Chapter 213
Rachel
Friday night we ordered Chinese food and binge watch ‘Couple to Trouple’, Massimo was just as interested in the show as I was. He said he’ll never do it himself but it was interesting how people try different things and how it works for some but not for others. I fell asleep on the coach and Massimo carried me to bed. It was the perfect Friday night. Saturday morning Massimo woke me with plans. He set up some appointments with a real estate agent for Saturday and Sunday. At least the appointments only started at 11 am so I had time to get ready on my own time. We were early for the first appointment in was a Brownstone three story house. I love it from the outside but I could see Massimo was not impress at all. The agent came and let us into the house. In my opinion it was beautiful, high ceilings, chandeliers, fireplace 4 bedroom 4.5 bathrooms, 2 studies but the back yard was small and in Massimo’s opinion no space for the men and security is also an issue. If you look at it that way, he was correct. She took us to an apartment building before we even went in, I told Massimo if we looking at another apartment we could stay where we are, no need to move I thought we wanted a yard. So, property hunting was a bust on Saturday. She did say she thinks we’ll like tomorrow’s houses. Here’s to hoping.
Sunday morning, we got up earlier I wanted to go jogging, Massimo said only if I felt better and I did. Luca and Marco went with us, Massimo set the pace a slow and steady jog. I appreciated him for what he did, he made sure I was listening to the doctor but I could also do what I liked. When we reached Central Park, he asked “You still good Bella?” “Still good Massimo.” We jogged through Central Park; I noticed Massimo’s route was different than Marco’s. Weird I only noticed it now. Maybe it’s because we weren’t running a marathon but casually jogging. When we ran past the Starbuck Massimo stopped and ordered our usual. My husband looking out for his wife, I couldn’t love him more. We walked the rest of the way home. “You ready for house hunting today, Bella?” “I’m not sure you had a problem with every house we saw yesterday.” “That wasn’t houses Bella, a house has a back and front yard, I want space, space for the kids to run around in, space to build the men their own place. If I move now, I want space.” Okay Massimo I got it you want space.” “Are you making fun of me?” “Well sort off, I guess if we want space, it will take us out of the city and away from Central Park?” “Unfortunately, yes Bella, we won’t find a house with a yard in the city. We’ll need to move out of the city.” “Well then we should look at schools to Massimo?” “Not really sweetheart, no matter what school we choose we will always have men to drive the kids around.” “I don’t want the children to always drive with the men Massimo, I would like to take them to school as well.” “Bella you never going anywhere without Marco, that will be the same for the kids.” “Oh, I haven’t thought of it like that.” “You have a problem with that?” “No not really, it’s just clear our children will have a different life than I had.” “Or I” he said. “Do we want that for the children?” “We don’t really have a choice Bella in the kind of work I’m in and with my bank balance you and the kids will always be targets.” “Fuck Massimo this is getting real fast.” “Bella the danger doesn’t just come from my drug business if that was what you thought.” “I think I sort of did.” “Sorry Bella.”
The real estate agent got us at home she wanted Luca to follow her we were going to a place called Tuxedo Park. She first asks if we would ride with her, but Massimo declined. She gave us the brochure to go through on our way, it was a 5 bedroom, 6 full bathrooms and 2 half bathrooms, the house had 3 fireplaces, the acreage was 10.8 acres and the house was 5,236 Sq Ft. The home was built in the 1900’s and nestled on 11 acres of picturesque meadows and old growth trees. As we approached the house it winds along a road encircling majestic Tuxedo Lake, the gates were attached to two large stone pillars. “This is what I’m talking about” Massimo said as we drove onto the property. I was to stun by the views to say anything. It was absolutely beautiful. I could see the children running around, I could even saw horses on this property. If space is what Massimo wanted, there is more space here then I think we’ll ever need.
We got out of the car and I could see Massimo was excited, unfortunately the real estate agent could see it to, she knew she had him hook, line and sinker. As we stood outside the house the real estate agent started talking. “This is one of Tuxedo Parks most iconic estate, Blue Stable is an extraordinary stone and timber home. The home underwent a comprehensive renovation, blending historic charm with modern functionality and efficiency and features extensive irrigation and drainage systems, a high-powered generator and outdoor lighting. The grounds have been meticulously maintained and feature professionally curated botanical plantings plus vegetable and flower gardens and a meticulously designed private garden walk.” “This is absolutely beautiful. What’s the price?” Massimo asked. I pulled him to one side, “Don’t you want to see the inside before you ask that question?” “Off course I want to see the inside but if the outside is so spectacular Bella, I’m buying it, if you like it of course?” “I do like it.” “Well then let’s find out the price.” We walked back to the real estate agent “So?” “It’s $4.995.000.” Basically 5 million dollars fuck that’s a lot of money I thought. I made the calculation in my head and it came to almost 97.2 million rand my fucken word. But I tried to keep calm. “Let’s go inside.” We walked into the house and I was sold the kitchen was equipped with state-of-the-art stainless-steel appliances. There were limestone floors a library, tack room, a cathedral ceilinged dining room which comfortable seats 20 guests. The house was really something out of a movie and it felt like a home, just like the house in The Hamptons. “You like it, Bella?” “I love it.” We walked outside and made plans where we could build an outside house that looks like the main house for the guys. Massimo dreamed big. The real estate agent gave us time to walk around and talked which we appreciated. When we got back to her Massimo said “I’ll give them $4 million cash.” Fuck it’s obvious I didn’t know how much money Massimo actually had. “I’ll take it to my client.” She said
