Rachel
I was lying in bed awake; I couldn’t sleep. Today was the day we’re going to the doctor for test to find out if I could have children or if the miscarriages and the constant kicking damaged my uterus. I was so nerves, I wanted kids badly and when I think about it, I would love to have Massimo’s kids. I thought back to last night when we were eating outside on the patio with our glass of wine and I could imagine a few kids running around us. If I look at what Massimo does for me, I can only think that he would be a loving and caring father. But this nagging feeling I have what happens if I can’t have children, what will happen to me and Massimo he made it clear he wanted a few kids. I felt a tear escaping my eye.
“What’s wrong sweetheart?” I heard Massimo say, I didn’t even know he was awake. “Nothing Massimo” I lied to him. “Sweetheart you know how I feel about lying and we didn’t even say good morning to each other yet.” Massimo leaned over and gave me a quick kiss on the lips. “Morning Sweetheart.” “Morning Massimo.” “Now why are you crying and don’t lie to me.” Massimo said with a stern voice. “I was thinking about today’s appointment and got sad thinking I might not be able to give you children.” Massimo took me in his arms and stroke my hair while my head was on his chest. “Bella we’re not going to worry about it now, we’ll wait to see the Doctor and get tests done then we will handle it from there. We are not going to think of problems just solutions.” I smiled up at him and kissed him. “Thank you, Massimo.” “Now let’s get up and get ready for the day. It’s going to be a full one.” Massimo smiled at me. “What do you mean?” “Did you forget we’re going shopping after the doctor’s appointment?” “I totally forgot” We finished in the bathroom then we got dress, Massimo in a jean and a white t-shirt, I was drooling when I saw him. “Close your mouth Bella or I’ll put something else in that mouth.” He teased. “What if I want that in my mouth?” I teased him back. “I wish, but we’ll be late for your appointment. I’ll take you up on that later definitely later.” I dressed in a short yellow dress, with my hair in long loose curls and did my make-up. When Massimo saw me, he was looking at me with hungry eyes. “Hey mister you can’t look at me like that you said we’re going to be late.” I teased him. He took my hand “Let’s get out of this room before I make us late.
We walked out of the apartment and went down to the garage where Luca and Marco were waiting for us at the SUV “Morning Luca, Morning Marco” I greeted them. They both greeted me. “Where to boss?” Luca asked. “We’re first going to the doctor’s office Luca I send you the details.” Massimo was holding my hand the whole way. I was squeezing his hand so tight after a while he said, “Sweetheart relax you’ve got a tight grip there.” “Sorry Massimo. I’m just nerves.” We stopped at the doctor’s office and Massimo and I got out, the receptionist immediately knew who we are. “Mr Marchette just take a seat Dr will be with you in 5 Min.” After exactly 5 min the Doctor came out. “Mr Marchette, Miss Williams Good day I’m Dr Coolen, please come in.” We greeted the doctor and went to her office.
“Now Miss Williams, Mr Marchetti gave me a short explanation for the visit, is there anything else I need to know.” “Except for the miscarriage and the fact that I left the hospital very quickly after I was admitted, nothing really. I’m taking an oral contraceptive.” “Was it prescribe for you after the miscarriage?” “No, I just started to use it, being afraid to get pregnant again.” “So, we don’t have to worry about you getting pregnant just if there are any problems with your uterus?” “Basically, yes Dr” “Can you tell me if you experience any bleeding without it being your menstrual cycle?” “Yes, sometimes Dr” Massimo was sitting next to me listening to everything but not saying a word he just hold my leg. I felt more comfortable with him with me than I thought. “Good let’s go to the examining room and I can do a sonar of your uterus. Mr Marchetti you can wait here.” Massimo was already standing. “Dr will it be okay if he comes with me, please?" “As you wish Miss Williams” “Please call me Rachel” “Okay Rachel take off your clothes put on the gown and lay on the table. I’ll give you time to do that.” When the doctor left us, Massimo asked if I was okay, I was shivering with fear. He came to me and hugged me, “Everything is going to be okay sweetheart relax.” He calmed my nerves and I got undress and laid on the bed. When the doctor came back, I was on the table and Massimo was holding my hand.
“Good let’s take a look shell we?” the doctor but very cold gel on my belly and apologise that it was so cold, then she looked at my ovaries. “Your ovaries look good and healthy”, then she moved to my uterus. “Okay here is a bit of a problem but nothing that can’t be fixed. It looks like there is some leftover tissue in your uterus from the miscarriage. It’s easy to fix. We will make an appointment for you, I’ll remove the scar tissue and send it for analysis, but if that comes back normal, I don’t see any problems in you getting pregnant. I would suggest you going off the oral contraception, then we can measure the number of eggs you produce as well. This will be a risk if you don’t use condoms. “I started to cry. Massimo stood up and press his lips to my forehead. “Why are you crying Bella?” I didn’t answer him I looked at the doctor “Are you sure there is no more damage doctor?” “As sure as I can be without blood test and the analysis from the scrape of your uterus.” Massimo spoke then “When can we do the procedure doctor?” “I have an opening on Friday or is that too soon for you Rachel?” “The sooner the better doctor” “Good I’ll ask my receptionist to put you in the books, you won’t be sleeping over but you will stay a few hours after the procedure before you can go home and I would prefer if you stop your oral contraception’s immediately. Then we can do the blood test as well. I’ll give you time to get dress.” The doctor left me and Massimo alone again. “Bella why did you cry?” “I’m relieved Massimo and after Friday and everything comes back negative for anything I think I’m going to cry more, I really thought I’ll never be able to have kids.” Massimo gave me a big hug, “I told you everything is going to be good sweetheart. While you dress I’m going to speak to the doctor quickly.
I couldn’t hear much of what they we’re saying I only heard Massimo thanking her for doing the procedure so quickly and I think I heard her say, that’s why you paying me double my fee Mr Marchetti.
I came out of the examining room and thanked the doctor she told me she’ll see me at 8am Friday morning and I shouldn’t eat or drink anything after 10pm. Then we left.
“My girl ready to go shop?” Massimo asked me “Because I am and I think we have somethings to celebrate.” “Don’t count your chickens before they hatch Massimo.” “I’ve got a good feeling about this so I’m going to celebrate by buying you a whole new wardrobe.” “You can’t Massimo.” I protested. “Remember when I told you, you have to get use to me buying you things and you said you’ll try? Well, I’m cashing in on that, ‘you’ll try’.”
“Okay Massimo let’s go shop” I laughed at him
