Chapter 326

Massimo

We got to the house in record time. When I got into the house, I could hear Bella doing her breathing exercises. “Bella I’m here.” “Thank God” I helped her to her feet then Marco came and helped me to get her to the chopper. I strapped her in when she saw Marco coming with “I told you no security at the hospital Massimo.” “I’m taking Marco with to drive back with Luca.” “Oh” It wasn’t totally a lie but it wasn’t the truth either. But she didn’t have to know that. Within minutes we where at the hospital when we landed a porter came running out with a wheelchair. I helped Bella into the wheelchair and we were running again to the ward. They took us to the delivery ward where we found Dr Coolen waiting for us. “Rachel, I heard you having some contractions?” “Yes, doctor I thought it’s only Braxton-Hicks but it gotten worse.” “Okay let me see.” She put Bella on a bed with her legs open for all to see. “Let’s see if you dilatated at all.” I was holding Bella’s hand while the doctor was busy feeling if Bella was dilatated yet. I was a nervous reck and it wasn’t even me on the bed.

Rachel

I heard the helicopter approaching the house and the next minute Massimo stormed into the house. “Bella I’m here.” “Thank God” He helped me to the helicopter and we were off. Marco was coming with I wasn’t happy about it but apparently, he came with to keep Luca company. I let Massimo believe that I believed that shit. When we got to the ward and the doctor started to examine me, I was getting nervous. I could feel the nervous energy jumping off Massimo as well. I was nervous because there was still 5 weeks to go and I can’t have the twins now. I’m not ready and they are not ready to come out yet. But while the doctor examined me another contraction hit me. I grabbed onto Massimo’s hand and squeezed it. He just took his other hand and tried to comfort me by rubbing my belly. “I see you’re having another contraction.” “Yes” was all that came out. “Rachel you are not dilatated at all but I think it would be better to keep you over night then we can make sure that you are really not going into labor with the high blood pressure you had earlier on I’d rather be safe.” “Okay thank you doctor.” I said. “What happens if she goes into labor doctor the twins are not ready to come out yet.” “Preferable we don’t want her to go into labor it would be better for the twins to stay right where they are for know but if they come they come Mr. Marchetti then there is nothing, we can do about it.” “Will they be, okay?” “They will be premature but yes, they will be okay and nothing to worry about. I’ll be checking on you later again Rachel.” “Thank you doctor.” The doctor left me and Massimo alone in the room. “How are you feeling sweetheart?” “I really hope it’s only Braxton-Hicks Massimo I’m not ready yet and they are not ready yet.” I started crying. “Don’t cry sweetheart I’m sure it’s only Braxton-Hicks and the doctor is just making sure.” “I really hope so.” Massimo got comfortable in a chair next to me still holding my hand while he used the other hand to make calls. I heard him calling the pilot telling him we are going to stay overnight and he can take the plane back home and asked him if he can stay with us from tomorrow. When he put the phone down, I told him “That wasn’t necessary Massimo.” “Off course it is I have one meeting tomorrow and then I’m working from home but we are going to the Hamptons I think we should take the chopper, then he is there if something happens again.” “I’m sure it’s not necessary.” “Let’s rather be safe than sorry sweetheart.” “As you wish Massimo.” “I dosed off then was woken by a contraction but the contractions didn’t come every few minutes they came every few hours but when they did come the lasted for a while, I think that was why the doctor was worried. The nurses came every time I had a contraction just to make sure I’m not dilating. When the doctor came back much later, she did other examine and was convinced it was only Braxton-Hicks but she kept me in hospital for the night. Massimo slept on the lazy boy the have in the rooms I on the other hand didn’t sleep much. Between the twins being busy and the contraction that kept on happening I was very happy when the sun came up. “You didn’t sleep much.” Massimo asked me “Let’s go with nothing.” “Sweetheart.” “Don’t worry Massimo I’m used to it that’s why I sleep a lot during the day the twins are very busy at night.” “Why haven’t you told me.” “You working during the day you need your sleep I’m fine I sleep during the day.” “But I would still like to know.” “Sorry Massimo, but know you know.” “Also, true.” The doctor came in an hour later to examine me again. “It was Braxton-Hicks Rachel nothing to worry about.” “We want to go to the Hamptons, will that be, okay?” Massimo asked the doctor. “Yes, off course are you taking the helicopter?” “Yes.” “Then by all means as long as there is a way to get to the hospital quickly like I said I’m sure the twins are going to be here earlier than expected.” “As long it’s just a week doctor.” I told her. “Let’s hope so Rachel.” Massimo thank the doctor and we signed out. The porter came and pushed me out of the hospital in the wheelchair. Luca and Marco were waiting for us at the hospital’s entrance. They helped me into the SUV. As soon as Massimo got in, I laid my head on his shoulder and before we even drove away from the hospital I was sleeping on Massimo shoulder.
