As the doors open of the lift Bernardi took a shot straight at me, luckily for me Luca was always standing half in front of me. The bullet hit Luca and Luca fell backwards against me. I draw my weapon and shot Bernardi in his chest. I was looking for the doorman but couldn’t see him, I kept on calling for him but nothing. I ripped open Luca’s jacket and shirt and thank God he had his bullet proof on. That’s when the doorman appeared “Sorry Mr. Marchetti he hit me with his gun.” “No problem go stand at the door and make sure the police weren’t called. Keep them out of the foyer.” That’s when I heard Damon calling to me “Massimo!” he screamed. “I’m right here Damon.” He looked around into the lift and saw me but also saw Luca on the floor he asked the doorman what happened. Then Damon jumped into action “Okay you make sure the police don’t come in.” He told the doorman, although I already did. I heard the other lift open then Marco and Enzo’s voices. “Fuck” Marco and Enzo said. “You guys need to get rid of the body Marco.” Damon instructed them. “On it Damon, where’s boss?” Marco asked. “I’m right here Marco, Luca has been shot but his still alive.” Damon organized the men to get rid of the body, then he came to me and helped me to get Luca upstairs. When the doors opened to the lift Rachel ran towards me, Damon took Luca. “Massimo thank God.” “I’m okay Bella, Luca was shot we need to get him to lie down. We carried Luca to the couch and got his bullet proof of. He’s going to be sore tomorrow. He eventually opens his eyes. “Thank fuck” “We need to call the doctor.” “No boss I’m okay.” Luca said over and over. Then Damon asked the damaging question in front of Rachel “What happened Massimo?” I quickly looked at Rachel then decided let’s just say what happened she will ask me later anyway and she will know I lied to her earlier. “Luca told me Bernardi was downstairs for me I didn’t think he will have the guts to shoot, I thought we will be okay, I mean the doorman and both Luca and I had our guns. But as you heard he knock the doorman out and when the doors open, he shot, I was just lucky Luca always stands in front of me. Then I pulled my weapon and shot him.” “Fuck Massimo that was close.” Rachel started crying and walk out of the room. “I’m going to leave you Massimo I think you have other things to deal with.” “Before you go, how did he get out?” “I have no idea maybe they have a secret tunnel we’ll speak to Q don’t worry we will find out how that happened.” “Thank you, Damon.” “I’m just glad you are all okay. Luca thank you for saving Massimo yet again.” “It’s my job Damon.” Luca said as he was getting up. “No Luca you stay.” “No boss I’m okay I’ll go and lie down in the room; you have to talk to Rachel.” “Okay Luca but please don’t hesitate if we need to call the doctor.” “Okay boss.” Then Luca and Damon left and I was in the lioness den for lying to her. I walked into the room and Rachel was lying on her side with a pillow over her face crying. “Bella” “Don’t you Bella me, you lied to me Massimo.” “I didn’t want to make you stress Rachel I didn’t think he will shoot I just thought he wants to talk.” “You promise you’ll never lie to me again. I told you it’s the lying and the not knowing that stress me out but still you do it Massimo. How am I going to trust you Massimo, I need to trust you.” She said between sobs. “I’m sorry Rachel.” “Sorry doesn’t fix everything Massimo you could have died, you promised me you will be there for me and the babies and what did you do you went downstairs on purpose with only Luca you knew Bernardi was unpredictable but still you went. What else have you lied about?” I got quiet, do I tell her about the death threat do I come clean now on everything? “If you quiet this long you lied about something else Massimo, what is it? You better tell me.” “Fine Rachel, I did hear from Costa last night he promised he will kill me for killing his men.” “Oh my God Massimo but you still went out to see Bernardi after you got a warning. How dense are you?” “I really didn’t think he would have the guts, Rachel.” “Stop underestimating people Massimo and stop lying to me.” My phone rang and Rachel rolled her eyes. “You better get that maybe it’s someone else who wants to threaten you and invite you to your death.” Then she turned around and walked out of the room. I’ve never seen her so pissed. My phone was still ringing I saw it was Damon, “Damon” “Sorry Massimo I know you have things to deal with but Costa just phoned Romana the meeting is tomorrow.” “Thank you, Damon.” Now what do I do, do I sort everything out with Bella or do I call Romana. I decided to call Romana, I might regret this but we need to get this ball on the roll. “Romana.” “Yes Massimo.” “I heard he called you; did you stick to the plan?” “Off course I did, I’m a man of my word.” “Good what time?” “Tomorrow at my warehouse at 12 he wants to do it during the day he thinks there will be less violence during the day.” “Well after they just tried to kill me, I don’t think there will be less violence. Thank you Romana I’ll get in contact with Edcardo and tell him the plan.” I quickly called Edcardo and told him everything that happened today with Bernardi and told him about the plan for tomorrow, when I said goodbye and hour has passed. Great now I’m going to be in more shit. I went looking for Bella, she wasn’t in the living room or her office. I walked pass one of the guest bedrooms and saw the door was closed. I tried to open it but it was locked. I knocked on the door. “Bella please let’s talk.” She screamed from inside the room. “I’m not ready I’ll be sleeping here tonight.” “Bella please.” “No Massimo please leave.” What do I do now do I leave her or beg her. I decided to give her her space hopefully she’ll speak to me tomorrow morning before I leave for the meeting. Or I will break down the door. “I’m sorry Bella, I love you.” I told her through the door. But she didn’t answer me at all. It was clear she was really, really pissed with me.
