Who is my dad?
Author's pov
It didn't take Daisy the usual amount of time to reach her mom's house. On her way there, various thoughts crossed her mind, but none seemed sufficient to explain why her mom sounded upset on the phone.
Daisy quickly got out of her car when she arrived at her mom's compound and hurriedly walked inside, forgetting her handbag in the car. When she reached the main door, she tried to open it, but it was locked. She immediately knocked on the door twice.
"Mom! Mom!!" she called out.
She waited, but there was no response after a few minutes. Frustrated, she hit the door, and her mom's voice came from inside.
"Daisy, did you still come? I told you not to come and to wait until tomorrow."
Juliana opened the door.
"Mum, what happened?" Daisy asked quickly, but her mom hushed her. Juliana gently locked the door, and Daisy watched as her mom walked towards her bedroom, wearing a pink nightgown.
"Mom, why are you keeping me silent?" Daisy asked. When she realized her mom wasn't ready to talk and continued walking, Daisy followed her. They both entered the bedroom and sat down.
"Why are you so stubborn? I told you I'm fine..." her mom began.
"Fine? With the way your voice sounds? Mum, stop hiding things from me. I can tell right away when you're sad or heartbroken." Daisy paused, waiting for her mom to say something, but her mom remained silent, looking down at her legs.
"Is it Gabriel? The last time we spoke, and even when I left here a few days ago, you were perfectly fine."
"Don't tell me you're crying because Gabriel didn't stay here tonight because you went to see your ex boyfriend. I'll be so disappointed."
"Gabriel has kids with different women," her mom finally spoke up.
"Yes! My instincts weren't wrong. I saw him as a womanizer."
"Can you imagine? He has six kids, and what I noticed is that he gives each woman he meets a different name."
"He must be out of his mind. How are you going to handle this? Are you still coming with him to my party?" Daisy asked. It took Juliana a few minutes to reply.
"Daisy, I won't be selfish. Considering the love I have for you, I don't want to bring up this issue right now. I will compose myself, and both of us will come to the party. After the party, I'll address it.”
Daisy immediately embraced her mum, and tears came out of Juliana's eyes. Due to her mum's emotional state, Daisy decided to sleep in her room for the night.
The next day, the thought of Sadie being intimate with Justin jolted Daisy awake. She abruptly stood up and said,
"Mum, I need to go to my dad's house. All the clothes I'm going to wear are there."
"Okay, my darling," her mum replied, kissing Daisy's cheeks. She left her mum's house that morning.
Right after Daisy left, Juliana called Gabriel, and her voice was cold as she spoke,
"Hello, Gabriel, when are you coming to pick me up for my daughter's party?"
"Honey, is this how you want to apologize for what you did?" Gabriel asked. Those words provoked Juliana, and she couldn't help but say,
"Is that why you keep changing your name whenever you meet a new lady? Who is Sam? Who is James? Who is Fredrick? Please don't provoke me."
The mention of those names made Gabriel go silent for a moment, and then he said,
"Honey, I can explain all of this."
"I don't need your explanation. Come and take me to my daughter's party at 3:30 pm. And please, I don't want you to bring this up when you come here," she ended the call.

Daisy's pov
The party was scheduled for 4 pm, and when it was 2 pm, I went to my room to take a bath. Sadie wanted to wear the exact gown I had bought for the event, but I disagreed because of the growing resentment I felt towards her due to her involvement with my dad. However, Sadie still chose to wear something similar to my gown. If it had been before I discovered their secret affair, I would have happily accepted, as we always dressed alike and enjoyed it when going to occasions.
An hour before the event was set to begin, I came out and saw that my dad had arranged for a transportation company to take the three of us to the venue. I didn't want to get into the car my dad had paid for. Deep down, I knew that I might not be going home with them after the event, so it would be better if I used my own car.
The more I insisted on using my car, the more my dad insisted that I shouldn't drive myself.
"Please, Daisy, let's take this service car. You don't need to stress yourself today," Sadie said.
I knew that in a few hours, I would become their enemy after publicly exposing them. Finally, I gave in to my dad's request and joined them in the big executive car he had arranged.
When we arrived at the event, many people were already there, and I greeted them warmly. I also saw Sadie going to hug her mom, and it was the first time I saw Sadie's mom's boyfriend. I looked around to see if I could spot Sadie's ex-boyfriend, but he was nowhere to be found. Then, about ten minutes later, I saw Leo, and it brought me great joy. All I wanted was for all the people who knew Sadie to be present. I was so happy that I went to give Leo a hug.
The party started with music, and as I danced while holding my boyfriend's hand, I glanced at Sadie, wondering if she would be dancing with my dad. To my surprise, I saw her dancing with Eric, and they were laughing and whispering to each other. As I turned my gaze to the left, I saw my mum holding hands with Gabriel, and her facial expression showed she was delighted, but the way she moved her hands with Gabriel showed she was angry with him, although it wasn't obvious.
The way the party planner Sadie had arranged everything made me impatient. All I desired was for the host to call me up on stage so I could pour out my heart. Another surprise came when Sadie brought out a big cake, but it wouldn't distract me from the purpose of the occasion.
Finally, after everyone had eaten and enjoyed their wine, the host said,
"This is the moment we've all been waiting for. The time when the celebrant would give her speech to delight everyone."
As I climbed up onto the stage, wearing my long red gown and holding it with one hand, I felt the joy in my heart.
I stood before the small audience and placed the sheet of paper in front of my eyes. Then, I cleared my throat before speaking.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your presence here today. As mentioned in the invitation cards, I called you all together because I am about to embark on my chosen career. Before I begin, I would like to thank my dad for all he has done for me. However, there is another issue of great sensitivity that has compelled me to gather you all here today. It is a story of betrayal from the people I deeply love and cherish. But before I delve into that, I want to express my appreciation for those who have cared for me.
Firstly, I want to thank my dad, Mr. Justin, who has been my first love and has loved me wholeheartedly. The love I have for him will never waver. He has understood my emotions, and I consider him a great father. Secondly, my mom, the strongest woman I have ever known. I love her because she embodies the qualities of a good woman. Lastly, I want to express my gratitude to my best friend, Sadie. She has taught me the value of friendship, and we have been friends for over a decade.
But what happens when someone you trust betrays you? What happens when they stab you in the back and expect you to turn a blind eye?
It would have been important to approach this matter with empathy and respect, but since these people did not consider me before their actions, I will speak honestly about how I feel right now.
My relationship with my best friend Sadie was built on trust and unconditional support, but something unimaginable has happened. I have discovered that my best friend is having an affair with my dad."
The crowd gasped and fell into a stunned silence, and I continued.
"This is the most devastating moment of my life, and there is ample evidence if any of them try to deny it."
As I spoke those words, I felt a sense of liberation, knowing that I had expressed what was in my heart and done the right thing. Murmurs spread through the crowd, and I added,
"My mum did the right thing by leaving my dad. It was incredibly painful that I invited my best friend to help her heal from her broken heart, only to have my father betray me by sleeping with her behind my back. What she did is completely unfair, regardless of the circumstances."
As I continued speaking, I noticed Sadie walking towards me, seething with anger. All the pain I had been enduring was now directed at her, and I knew at that moment that our friendship had been shattered, with no hope of repairing it.
Once Sadie reached the stage, everyone fell silent as she took the microphone. Her eyes were red, and with a trembling voice, she said,
"If only you could see what happened behind your back, what happened to your biological father? Mr. Justin is not your biological father. You could have found out if you were as clever as you claim to be."
With that, she stepped down from the stage. I immediately looked at my dad and mum, and my dad lowered his face to the ground. Without even realizing it, I took the microphone and asked,
"Mum, who is my dad?”
