What's taking you so long?

“Do I hear Juliana saying she’s coming to my house this morning? That means she enjoyed what happened last night,” James said with a smile as he clenched his fist and moved around his room like someone who just won a lottery.
“Her body was like that of a virgin, and I gave her pleasure until she wanted more. It seems she had been denying herself for months. Now that we’re engaged, she’ll feel comfortable coming to me for sex. Hmm… sex is also about the connection of the mind. The more you love someone, the more you enjoy being intimate with them. I felt like a virgin too because the pleasure was extraordinary. It is worth celebrating. I can’t wait for her to be here.
James quickly grabbed his towel and headed towards the bathroom.
“Let me take a quick shower before she arrives, and then we can continue where we left off last night,” he thought to himself. He entered the bathroom, turned on the shower, and felt the cold water, which reminded him of a recent incident when he lied to Juliana.
“The fear of Stephanie almost made me lose the most beautiful woman in my life. Luckily, my mom intervened. I remember the call from my mom when she asked what I had told Juliana. My mom knew the kind of son she had, and she played along with Juliana’s story,” he recalled. He paused his thoughts to wash his face, then turned on the shower again and continued his reflections.
“At last, I did what I was afraid to do by breaking up with Stephanie. Not that I was afraid, but I don’t want it to affect my relationship with Juliana.”
James stepped out of the bathroom, the water droplets still on his body as he hastily dried himself with his towel. Before he could close the bathroom door, he heard the sound of Juliana’s car approaching his front door. James quickly put on his trousers and, shirtless, walked towards the sitting room to open the door. However, as he walked, a strange thought Crossed his mind.
“Should I do it?” he asked himself. Shaking his head, he continued walking, indicating his disagreement with the thought. But as he reached the door, the same thought resurfaced. This time, with his right hand about to turn the doorknob, he whispered to himself,
“This might make your relationship stronger.”
Still battling with his thoughts, he finally opened the door, and there was Juliana, already walking towards him. Seeing her beautiful eyes and the softness of her lips, James succumbed to his thoughts and said after embracing her,
“I have a confession to make.”
“What’s the confession?” Juliana asked with a smile, raising her left hand to show him the ring.
“No, not this, but it’s related to this,” James said with an overjoyed look.
“What is it that I need to know?” she asked, placing her fingers on James’s chest and caressing it, and this she had never done before now.
“To prove my love for you, I had to break up with my ex-girlfriend,” he said.
“Seriously?” She pulled away and looked at James in amazement. “Are you being honest?” She added.
“I don’t want to cheat on you. I want to be faithful to you and give you my heart,” he said, placing his lips on Juliana’s lips. They started kissing, and Juliana, lost in the moment, forgot why she had come to James's place. They continued kissing as James picked her up and carried her to his room. He gently placed her on the bed, and without wasting time, they both started undressing. The clothes came off quickly, as if they hadn’t seen each other in a long time. Moments later, Juliana moaned in pleasure.
“Agh…aaaa…” she cried out before saying, “I love it. Where were you when I was alone?” she exclaimed.
After James climaxed and lay on the other side of the bed, breathing heavily, Juliana remembered why she had come. She allowed James to catch his breath, and when she saw that he had calmed down, she glanced at her wristwatch and spoke.
“Your attractive abs and the kiss made me forget why I came here in the first place.”
“And what was that?” James tried to climb on top of her again, but she gently pushed him away and sat on the bed.
“I wanted to visit my friend. Her boyfriend just broke her heart. I’ve warned her many times to get to know someone before getting into a relationship with them, but she never listens. How could she start a relationship with a random guy she met at the club? There was no friendship or anything like that. I don’t even know the person. She had promised to introduce me to her boyfriend at a bar, but she always canceled at the last minute, saying he disappointed her. That’s how I knew he wasn’t serious about her. I came here so we could go together and cheer her up.” She paused and wondered with her eyes before asking,
“What have you done to me? I find joy in doing things with you. This was something I could have done on my own,” she chuckled, then playfully jumped on James’s body and started laughing.
“Hmmm…” James hummed, his heart racing.
“What? Won’t you come with me?” She paused, looking at him, and continued, “Am I asking too much? Yesterday I invited you to a housewarming party and today, I’m asking you to accompany me to visit a mourning friend.
“No, no.” He moved closer, holding her shoulders, but as he tried to gain his ground, there was still confusion in his eyes.
“You’re the sweetest woman I’ve ever been with. I won’t let you down. Please, let me take my bath.”
“I thought you already took a bath before I arrived?” she asked.
“How did you know?” James was surprised as he stood up.
“There was still water on your body when you greeted me at the door.”
“That’s my love, let me quickly shower again,” he bent down and kissed her right cheek before going into the bathroom. As soon as he entered, he walked to the left side, rested his hands on the sink, and placed his head on them.
“How am I going to handle this? It feels like the end of the line. Where can I escape to now? Should I tell her I can’t come with her anymore? This is something I can’t avoid. From the moment I laid eyes on Juliana and chose to date her, I knew this would happen one day. How am I going to face Stephanie in front of Juliana?”
James didn’t realize he had spent quite some time in the bathroom without turning on the shower. Suddenly, he heard Juliana’s voice.
“Honey, what’s taking so long? I thought you were going to take a bath.”
James quickly moved to the shower and, before answering Juliana, turned on the water. However, he forgot that his towel was still wrapped around his waist.
“I was washing my body,” he replied, but then noticed his towel and moved away to remove it. Confusion had set in, and he was so caught up in his thoughts about where Juliana was taking him.
He quickly finished his bath and came out. As he was getting dressed, he noticed Juliana about to answer her phone, which was ringing.
“Hi, dear. I’m on my way,” she said, waiting to hear what Stephanie had to say. When she didn’t hear a response, she added, “Please calm down, I’ll be there.” Juliana ended the call.
James was about to button his last button when Juliana stood up on her own, having observed James.
“You’re ready. Let’s go.”
They both left the house and approached the car. James was lost in his thoughts about how everything would unfold, forgetting his usual routine of taking the car keys and going to the driver's side.
“Are you letting me drive today? Why?” Juliana smiled, unaware of James’s inner turmoil. James was smart enough not to let his struggles show on his face.
“Oh, sorry,” he said, taking the car keys and driving away.
“Should I tell her before we get there?” he pondered. “If I do, it means I knew she was friends with Stephanie before dating her. Would this not ruin my relationship with Juliana?” He took a deep breath and then all of a sudden, there came this thought.
“Just pretend!” This thought crept up from behind.
“Pretend? Would that help?” James questioned himself as he realized he was heading towards Stephanie’s house. He deliberately took a wrong turn, and Juliana noticed.
“No, this isn’t the right road,” Juliana said.
“Okay, then guide me. Which way should I go?” James asked as he had started to pretend.
“Go back to the previous lane and continue. I’ll direct you,” she said and put one of her hands on James’s lap.
After about twenty-one minutes, Juliana and James arrived in front of Stephanie’s house—the very house where James had broken up with her earlier that day.
“Aren’t you coming?” Juliana asked as she got out of the car, while James remained seat
ed comfortably. She waited for James’s response.
