Go and tell her everything

James's pov

My secret had been exposed. When will I start? Will Juliana take me back into her life? Did she find out about my past and that's why she spent the night at her ex-boyfriend's place?

It's been over ten minutes since I parked in front of my house, but I've lost all motivation to go inside. What's the point of going inside? My life is in shambles. The woman I love with all my heart for the first time has refused to let me into her house. Is this how those women feel when I reject their love? I feel a burning fire in my chest. It's hard to breathe properly. All I wanted was to talk to Juliana and beg her for not revealing these things right away when we started our relationship. If she had loved me then, she would have loved me for who I am.

I took out my phone, intending to call my mum, but then the thought of calling Kate crossed my mind.

"How did Juliana come into contact with Jane and Kate?" I said out loud without realizing it. Out of anger, I hit the steering wheel, causing my phone to fall from my hand and onto the car floor. I forgot that I had already dialed Kate's number, and the phone wasn't on speaker, so I couldn't hear if Kate had answered the call. Meanwhile, I was talking to myself.

"Is this some kind of payback? These women are the ones who pursued me. I never promised them love. They're the ones who cling to me and refuse to leave. Why is life treating me like this? The only one I truly love..." I took a deep breath and continued, "I would do anything for her. I'll forgive whatever she does to me. She's the one who has captured my heart..."

"Wow, that's sweet!" Kate suddenly said, startling me. It was then that I remembered I had dialed Kate's number before dropping the phone. I quickly picked it up and ended the call.

"Does that mean Kate heard everything I was saying?" I wondered aloud.

I immediately dialed her number again and this time, I held the phone to my ear.

"Kate, what have you done? Who did you tell about me?" I asked anxiously.

"Me? I didn't tell anyone about you. I'm just glad you remembered me. If it wasn't for the journalist who approached me, none of this would have happened," Kate replied.

"Journalist? Who is this journalist?" I asked.

"It's none of your business. She promised me that you would call, and I'm grateful she made it happen," Kate revealed.

"That I will call you?" I questioned.

"Yes!" Kate answered before I ended the call.

Who is this journalist that contacted her? I haven't interacted with any journalist recently, and I can't recall telling anyone that I would call Kate. Before I could think back on any possible encounters with journalists, Kate called me back.

"Hello, Fredrick. When are you coming home? Isn't that why you called me?" she asked, and it was at this demand that I came up with something.

"I'll only come to your house if you tell me the name of the journalist who told you I would call," I insisted.

"Hmm... it's confidential, and I don't think I can tell you," Kate replied.

"It also means I won't be able to come to your place. You need to tell me who informed you, and then I'll come." My request was met with silence, and I patiently waited for her to respond.

"Kate, are you still there?" I asked.

"I'm here, but revealing this person's identity will cause me a lot. She specifically asked me not to disclose it to anyone. She played her part and kept her promise. Why can't I keep mine?" She tried to talk me out of my request.

"I'll only come to your place if you tell me who that journalist is," I insisted before ending the call.

Then I dialed Jane's phone number, and just as the call was about to end, she picked up.

"Are you still alive?" Jane's first question caught me off guard. I didn't know how to respond. After all, I was the one who called her, so I should be prepared for any insults.

"I'm alive. Do you want me dead?" I replied.

"Who cares? Since you left me, I've become stronger. I thought I would die in the weeks after you left, but I picked myself up and took charge of my life."

"Jane, did you say I left you?" I asked. "You were the one who forced yourself on me,” I added.

"If that's the case, why didn't you leave? Why did you stay at my house and make love with me if you didn't care? You shouldn't have touched me if you didn't love me. Now I believe that journalist. I never thought she would make you call me, but she did."

"Please, who is the journalist?" Jane asked.

"This should be the last time you ask me anything and never add 'please' to your statement when talking to me. You, who are heartless. Did you make yourself handsome? From the day I met you at the club, you seemed nice, but when responsibility came knocking, you were nowhere to be found. Just so you know, myself and my son are doing fine. And guess what? I've already told my son that you're dead, so he won't bother me about you." She ended the call.

My heart sank with Jane's harsh words. She was truly furious with me. All of this happened when I was still fooling around, and the most surprising thing is that she was the one who approached me.

Calling Jane didn't provide any clue about the identity of the journalist, and I was still sitting in my car all this time. Getting out of the car wasn't an option. The only thing on my mind was going straight to Kate's house, where she would hopefully reveal who this secret journalist was. Suddenly, a text message came through on my phone:

"The journalist's name is Stephanie . So start coming. If you disappoint me, you'll forever be a loser, because I've done my part."

Oh my goodness! I never expected Stephanie  to be involved. I immediately started my car and drove straight to Stephanie 's office. I knocked on her door, but there was no response. I was certain she was in the office, so I didn't ask the receptionists downstairs. I went back down and approached the lady on the left.

"Excuse me, I'm looking for Miss Stephanie ," I said after exchanging pleasantries. She glanced at her computer and a few seconds later, she replied,

"She's on a two-day leave and will be back tomorrow. How can we assist you without her?”

"Oh, thank you. I came to see her in person." I left the building, and my next destination was to go and meet Stephanie  at her house. Meeting Stephanie  wouldn't solve any of the issues at hand, but my anger was guiding me at that moment.

When I arrived at Stephanie 's house, I hurriedly went to her front door and knocked loudly. Seconds later, she opened the door and could see the anger in my eyes.

"Why are you getting involved in something that's none of your business?" I waited for her to reply. All she did was lean against the door frame and smirk.

"This is just the beginning. I want you to feel the pain that you caused me. This is just a taste of it. You can't have it both ways."

"What is all this nonsense?" It was then I realized that coming to meet Stephanie  was the dumbest thing I had ever done. There was no way she could help me. Juliana was now aware of my past, and meeting Stephanie  wasn't the solution. She was acting according to her angry mind.

As I was leaving Stephanie 's house, she laughed ironically, thinking she had won. Just as I was about to get into my car, I said to her,

"You may try to dig into my past, but I'll be walking down the aisle with Juliana."

My words silenced her for a moment, and I drove away, heading towards the person I should have approached from the beginning—my mom's house.

After several minutes, I arrived at my mum's house. It was the only place where I felt at home, and she was the only person I could confide in with all my pain.

The moment she greeted me at the door, she could tell from my expression that something was wrong.

"The woman I love has found out about my past..."

"And she wants to leave, right?" She completed my sentence.

"Something like that. What should I do?"

My mum didn't reply immediately. She looked at the floor, then back at my face, and asked,

"What did she find out?"

"She found out that I have six kids, and it was her friend Stephanie  who revealed it."

"She feels betrayed by you, and the best thing she could do was try to break up your relationship with her friend. Any reasonable woman would do that. She values her friendship and wants to restore it."

"What should I do?" I asked, holding my mum's hands, hoping she could perform some kind of magic to make all my troubles disappear.

"To begin with, go and tell Juliana about your entire past."

"My whole past?" Fear crept into my heart, and I raised my voice.

"Yes! That will be the foundation for trying to reconcile with her. If you love her, you should start by being honest and telling her everything."

This seemed ridiculous to me. How could I open my mouth and reveal my entire secret life to Juliana?

"Go, go, go and tell her," my mum pushed me towards my car, looking deep into my eyes. She added, "If you want that relationship, you have to tell her everything before she finds out on her own.”
