Dad with a mysterious woman

Author's pov

At the hearing of those words that Justin brought a lady and had sex with her, Sadie immediately took an excuse to look for a place to take a deep breath and get herself back.

“Please, can I use the restroom? I'm having a running stomach. I will get back to you very soon.” Sadie stood up and left her chair to use the restroom.

“Okay, please go and come back quickly, I'm waiting for you. We have the whole day to ourselves,” Daisy replied.

Daisy's eyes were still Sadie as she was walking away, and then Daisy's phone started ringing.

“Hello Mum,” and as she waited to continue, Juliana interrupted.

“Please repeat what you said to me some hours ago. I was still feeling sleepy when you called.”

“I said, my dad slept with a lady last night.”

“Hmm…do you see the lady?” Juliana asked.

“That was the most annoying part. I'm still angry at myself. I wouldn't say I lost concentration. I was so careful to see when the lady left, but it seemed that all my efforts were in vain. The lady must have left before I woke up. It was in the middle of the night…”

“Please don't tell me how it happened, I'm not really interested because I have moved on….”

“But you are having some issues with your man,” Daisy cut in.

“But that doesn't mean I will come back to your dad. I'm very happy you saw what your dad did. It means this has been going on in your absence. Where was Sadie when this was going on?” Juliana asked.

“Coincidentally, she was on a date with a guy she met at my dad's party. There wasn't any way you could see that lady?”

“No, I even entered my dad's room the next morning after waiting for a long time in the sitting room if she would come out, and I forgot that there were two other exit doors. Oh I remembered, locked those doors and the keys were with me. What I am thinking is that the lady left the house very early in the morning. I could remember, I was the first to leave my dad in the sitting room. This means the lady came very late and left very early.”

“Daisy, are you not sure if there is someone you know? Someone very close to you? Someone you call a friend.”

“Mum! Mum!! Where are you heading to? How many times will I tell you to stop thinking it was Sadie? I am very happy I was there in the house, if not you would say it Sadie. Please take Sadie out of this, please.”

“No, I was just suggesting,” her mum tried to defend herself.

“Such a suggestion could cause great pain. I was an eyewitness. It's not Sadie. Let's remove her from the picture.”

“When are you coming back, I will be leaving the house later today.”

“I don't think I will be coming soon. I want to secretly monitor my dad and see the lady he had been sleeping with that made him leave you. That lady broke my parents home. I will give her the insult of her life.”

“Please, I didn't say you should go and fight on my behalf. Please, remove me from whatever plans you have. I have already moved on.”

“Okay then. I will see you hmm… tomorrow or next.”

“Okay Daisy, I miss you.”

“I miss you mum, bye,” and she ended the call.

It was at the time she took the phone from her ear she realized that Sadie had taken much time in the restroom.

“I hope she is alright?” She thought and she called one of the bartenders to bring a bottle of wine. A few minutes later, as the bartender was dropping the bottle of wine on the table, Sadie was walking towards Daisy.

“What happened? You took so much time.”

“Yeah!” And before she could continue, Daisy jokingly said,

“Why would you have a running stomach after going on a date with someone I don't know.” They both chuckled and Daisy added.

“I'm happy you weren't here, you would have gotten offended by what my mum was suggesting.”

“Hmm….” Sadie squeezed her face.

“No, no, you know I must defend you. Moreover, you were not at home. My mum keeps saying this thing that annoys me. But the only thing that you did that got me angry was that, all these days that I wasn't around, my dad would also have brought that lady, but you have never said something like that. I don't think yesterday was the first time the woman came to my dad's house. All I could say is that, that lady is responsible for my dad's breaking up with my mum.” She paused in pain and all Sadie could do was to say,

“I'm sorry for what you are passing through.” She held her hand and gradually, Daisy shook her head and blinked her eyes to withhold any tears.

“That reminds me, how did your date go?” Daisy asked as she opened the bottle of wine in her front.

“I hope this wine has low alcohol inside?” She winked and was waiting for Daisy to reply to her.

“Sure, it has. I know a lot of alcohol is not good for you.” After Daisy had successfully opened the wine and served it into the two glasses, she sipped from her glass cup and asked the question again.

“Who is this new guy that I don't know, but I want to know and meet.”

Sadie also took her glass of wine and drank some and during this time, she was contemplating on how she will put her story to be believable to Daisy's ears.

“To be sincere, it's not a dateI went to. It's about forgiving someone who needed my help in order to stabilize his marriage.”

“When did you become a marriage counselor?” Daisy said and there was not a single laughter on her face as she was very interested in listening to what Sadie was about to say.

“I guess you still know Paul.”

“Yes…” Daisy nodded.

“I didn't want to expose what he did, but as it warrants me, I don't have a choice. But please, you must keep what I am about to tell you as a secret.”

“Hmmm… okay. Go on.”

“The last time I traveled to my city, Paul came to me and told me a brutal lie about his family. He said his wife was about to divorce him and he was asking for my hand in a relationship. You know Paul, he was a close friend of mine in college. There was also a time he asked me out, but I refused. So this time, he kept on coming to my place and was calling me. He even took me out several times. But little did I know that all he needed was to have sex with me. I didn't want to be someone who wanted to come between himself and his wife, so I decided to go on his behalf to plead with his wife to forget about the divorce plan and consider the psychological health of their daughter. Daisy,” Sadie paused and was looking at Daisy so that she would pay greater attention.

“In helping to stabilize the marriage on behalf of Paul, this was when I knew that Paul's wife was not planning for any divorce. And it was all Paul's plan to have sex with me as he was pleading for a relationship. It happened that during the video call with his wife, he came home from work and met us. He immediately ended the conversation. Now, he is begging me to lie to his wife that I was the one who wanted her husband. It's so bizarre. I refused and that was why he came all the way from his city and came to the party.”

“So what happened?” Daisy put her right hand under her chin and was looking at Sadie with all conviction and Sadie said,

“At first, I didn't agree. I refused him for several days and I didn't want to involve you. It was kind of a private affair and I didn't want him to feel ashamed of what he had done.”

“So you succumb?” Daisy asked and she drank from her wine again.

“Y…yes. I did it because I wanted peace in his marriage.” She paused and bent her face down.

“And what was the result?” Daisy asked as she saw that Sadie suddenly became sad.

“Insults upon insults from Paul's wife. I did it all because I still wanted Paul to have his family back. I received all the blame and insults.”

“I can never do such a thing. You should have allowed Paul to receive the consequences of his actions. Why will you be the one to receive an insult you never deserve?” Daisy asked.

“Let's forget about that for now. My biggest joy was to save that family.”

“What about my family? Who will save it? My dad has started bringing home his lady friend. And my mom has been fed up with him. So you know that my man didn't have sex with my mum for more than four months?”

“Really?” Sadie widened her eyes.

“Yes. That was the reason why my mom left as she was not told of what she did. I will never blame my mom for what she did. She did the right thing and any woman in her right senses would do the same thing. Why will he neglect what he is supposed to do and be sleeping with another woman?”

As Daisy was verging her anger, Sadie was looking at her and her mind immediately went back to the DNA test she had seen.

“Why am I in a condition not to help or tell Daisy the possible reason for Justin's action,” she thought.

When Daisy stopped talking, Sadie was still carried away by her thoughts and Sadie could not respond to what Daisy asked.

“What are you thinking?” Daisy tapped Sadie's hand.

“I am with you?” Sadie said.

“But you weren't replying to me when I asked what can I do to get rid of the lady my dad is secretly dating. Although it will no longer be a secret day, I'm packing my belongings to my dad's new house today.”

“How am I going to handle her presence now that I am obsessed with her father's hand on me,” Sadie said to herself and drank from her wine subconsciously.

“Sadie, I need your help.” Daisy said.

“What kind of help?”

“I know I can't bring my dad and mom back together, but all I want to know is the lady that made my dad not sleep with my mum for months. It was a trauma to my mom.” Daisy paused for a while and drank all of her wine in her glass cup and added,

“How can we do that? We need to work as a term.”
