Shocking revelation
Sadie's pov
It was a positive answer. I was pregnant. I confirmed it on the day I mentioned. I had noticed the signs about a week ago, and that morning I tested my urine with the pregnancy strips. I had planned to tell Justin after dealing with my mom's confrontation.
"Now that you've messed up your life with an older man, you can leave my house. I don't want to be a laughing stock. If this is how you want to spend your life, to hell with your decision." My mum said this to my face.
It was a mix of emotions as I walked out of my mom's house with Justin. She was so disappointed in me that I couldn't help but break down in tears as I walked through that door. But in Justin's hands and words, I found solace.
We left my mom's house and went to relax at a seven star hotel. I was so saddened by the whole situation that Justin was compelled to ask me,
"What can I do to make you smile again? I can't bear to see your sad face. You're not just who you were; you're carrying our baby, my child. It's something no woman has done for me."
"I want to reconcile with my mum," I said, tears coming out of my eyes.
"You will, but not now." And he kissed my stomach, saying, "You're carrying our future. She'll definitely come to see you when you give her a grandchild. Forget about your mom's anger for now. You've dealt with her part and drawn the line that you'll be with me."
Throughout my time with Justin, he had never been as caring and concerned for me as he was at this moment. On the day we were planning to return to his city, Justin received a phone call. It was very early in the morning, and his phone started ringing. I was resting my head on his chest when he gently moved away to answer the call. I woke up during all this and overheard the conversation.
"Hello, Daisy."
"Good morning, Dad. You're still my dad," she sounded happy. "Dad, I have good news," she added.
"What kind of good news when you've been mad at me for so many days? You haven't called me for so long."
"I'm sorry, but I want us to meet at 4 PM today."
"Today?" Justin asked.
"Yes!"
"I don't think that will be possible. I traveled, and I'll be coming home later today. Going out to see you today will be stressful. Why not schedule the meeting for tomorrow?"
"Okay, that would be nice. I have a surprise for you."
"A surprise?"
"Yes, I want to introduce someone to you," Daisy said.
"Hmm..." he responded with a smile. Justin then said, "Let me not guess, let me wait and see the surprise."
After the call, Justin turned to me and said, "Daisy has a surprise for me? Does she want to tell me that she's engaged?" He shrugged.
"What kind of surprise could it be?" I asked.
"I don't know." He paused, as if deep in thought, and then continued, "I want you to come with me."
"Me?" I touched my chest in surprise.
"Yes, you. You've always wanted to meet your mum and Daisy. Now that you've met your mum, I'd love for you to meet Daisy."
"Do you think that's a good idea?" I uncovered myself from the blanket and sat on the edge of the bed with my feet on the floor. "Daisy doesn't want to see me, so why should I show up when she only requested your presence?"
"I won't go anywhere without you," he said.
"Then you have to tell her first," I said, standing up.
"Please, I want everyone to know that I'm very proud of you.”
************
The next day, Justin and I had already taken the noon flight yesterday, and we arrived home around 3:45 pm. Throughout the trip and this morning, I was thinking about how I would face Daisy. It was something I couldn't refuse. Justin had made up his mind that I was going with him, whether I liked it or not.
Around 11:30 am, Justin received another call from Daisy. She said,
"Dad, I hope we're still meeting today."
"Yes, sure. 4:00 pm, right?" he asked.
"Yes, I'll text you the address of the hotel," she said. After the call, Justin ended it. A few minutes later, he received a text message with the name of the hotel.
After the call, I couldn't help but be curious about what Daisy was planning to do. It had been a long time since we spoke on the phone or had a face-to-face conversation because of what happened at the party she organized.
Hours later I was in my room when Justin stood at the doorway and said,
"Darling, time is running out. Please get ready." He left the door, and I turned to check the time. It was getting close to the meeting time.
I went into the bathroom, took a shower, and started getting dressed. After doing my makeup and putting on my necklace, there was one thing I deliberately left out—the hand chain given to me by my mom. I saw how the chain didn't help me when my mum confronted me at her house.
I was about to leave my room when I felt an irresistible urge to wear the chain. At this point, I wasn't wearing it for the sake of my mum, but for the man who impregnated my mum and was nowhere to be found.
"Darling, I'm done," I heard Justin's voice. I rushed back and reluctantly put on the chain, then went to meet Justin. When he saw me, he said with a smile,
"How beautiful is the mother of my child?" He pecked my cheek, and we left the house and got into his car, driving away.
The hotel Daisy sent us to was a luxurious one, and we arrived a few minutes late. Before we got there, Daisy was already sitting alone, with chairs in front of her and classic armchairs at her sides, and a glassy table in front of her. And I noticed that the particular area was made for VIPs.
When she saw us walking towards her and my heart already pounding, she stood up. However, her facial expression changed.
"Who asked you to come with him?" She looked into my eyes and spoke those words with great anger.
"Daisy, I asked her to come with me. She didn't want to, but I insisted."
"If she'll be here, then I'd rather go back home," Daisy said, crossing her arms.
"I'm sorry..." I said.
"Keep your bitter sorry to yourself," she attacked me again, and I stayed quiet. I was surprised by what Justin said next.
"I won't tolerate you talking to Sadie that way. I might as well go back home."
When Justin threatened to leave, I saw Daisy's facial expression change for the better.
"Hmm... okay, it's because this meeting is very important to me," Daisy said, and we sat down.
Perhaps it was prearranged, because as soon as we sat down, a bartender came over with two bottles of wine and many glasses. While the female bartender was opening the wines, I saw Juliana and a man walking towards our table. Seeing them, I anticipated the worst.
"What is she doing here?" Juliana pointed at me, and Daisy quickly stood up and whispered something into her ear. Juliana didn't say anything to me after that. But the man who came with her had a smiling face, and he sat down next to Juliana.
After everyone had their glass of wine, Daisy broke the silence.
"Dear Mr. Justin, you are the reason why I called this meeting, and for some reason, I'll get straight to the point." She paused for a moment, looking at Justin.
"I want to thank you so much, Mr. Justin. You were the father I knew from birth. The one who took care of me since I was a baby, paid all my bills, and showered me with so much love until the day I found out you weren't my biological dad. I'm happy to tell you that my mum never cheated on you when she married you. But she spent a night at her boyfriend's house two days before the wedding, and you knew she had a boyfriend before you came. This meeting was to thank you for everything you've done for me and to introduce you to my biological dad," she pointed at the man sitting next to Juliana, and there was silence once again. I saw Justin turn his face and look at the man, then he extended his right hand and said,
"My name is Justin."
"I'm Johnson," he replied. Then Justin cleared his throat and said,
"I also want to take this opportunity to tell you, Daisy, that it wasn't when you brought Sadie to the house that we fell in love. Sadie and I had already met through a dating app when I found out I wasn't your biological dad. I'm sorry for what my love for Sadie has done to your friendship with her. Meeting your father is a joyful occasion and should be celebrated." Justin wanted to call the attention of the bartenders when Juliana said,
"Please, before the bartender comes, let me use this opportunity to introduce Johnson to everyone. He is the love of my life." She looked at Justin and said it sarcastically. Based on how she said it, Justin, who didn't want to introduce Sadie, then said,
"In addition, this is very important. Mr. Johnson, I suppose you're the only one who doesn't know the lady sitting with me. She is my one and only, and I'd love for you to meet her. Her name is Sadie.”
Johnson immediately stood up and shook Sadie's hand. Their hands were still together when Johnson's eyes noticed the hand chain in Sadie's hand.
"Where did you get this chain?" He gently took her hand and examined it carefully.
"My mum gave it to me. It was a gift from my dad."
"Your dad? Where is your dad?" He asked, and Sadie couldn't answer.
"Nowhere to be found," Daisy said with a sneer.
Johnson walked closer to Sadie and inspected the hand chain closely. He saw his name engraved underneath it.
"Where is your mum?" His voice changed, and no one knew what was happening until tears came out of his eyes.
"You are my daughter," he embraced me.
"Are you my father? The one who hurt my mum?"
Johnson nodded, and tears trickled down his face.
It felt like I was in a dream. Did this mean that Daisy had been my sister all these years?
That's how Daisy and I resolved our differences, and we hugged each other, shedding tears of strong emotions. Then Aba took out her phone and dialed her grandmother's number, saying,
"Grandma, there's no need to do what we had planned for Sadie. She is now my sister."
"What do you mean? How?"
"Please, I'll talk to you later." She ended the call.
"What were you planning?" I asked. She smiled and said,
"Let bygones be bygones.”
“Please tell me, I want to know.” I insisted.
