Surprise visit

Stephanie was lying down, looking up at the ceiling in her room, and the room was completely quiet. She thought to herself,
"What have I done to James that he's intentionally abandoned me? It is not days, not weeks, now it's going to be months that he is abandoning me. I've tried everything to reach out to him, but all I've gotten are one form of excuses or the other. This isn't the James I knew. He didn't come to me and say he's no longer interested..."
Then her phone rang. She sat up, put her feet on the floor, and answered the call.
"Hi Juliana..."
"Are you sleeping?" Juliana said as she noticed the low voice of Stephanie like one waking up from sleep.
"No, I was just lying down," she replied.
"I hope you're still coming to the housewarming party?"
"Well... um, I will."
"Are you not sure? You and my daughter are the reason I'm going. As for Justin, I have no feelings for him anymore. I've decided to leave him. You and Daisy bring me joy in going to the party."
"Okay," Stephanie 's voice dropped.
"Before I go, are you bringing your always absent boyfriend?" Juliana paused and continued, "If he doesn't come with you this time, maybe you should give up on the relationship," Juliana said.
"But I'm in love with him. But he always tells me he's very busy and that he'll come and see me."
"Have you talked to him today?" Juliana asked.
"Yes, he said he'll get back to me. I will promise him and he doesn't know of my plan for now."
"Why can't you go to his house? I'll be leaving in an hour with Daisy. I hope to see you at the party. And another reason for you to come is to meet my new boyfriend. I won't introduce him now, but I'm planning for the three of us to go to the bar and have some wine. It'll be a good chance for you to meet him."
"That sounds better. I'm already dressed up, so I'll follow your advice. I'll go to his house. I don't want to call him because he'll probably give me another excuse."
"Alright. See you later," and Juliana ended the call. Stephanie stood up, and the first thing she did was go to the mirror to look at herself again.
"I look really good," she said to herself and smiled at her reflection. She had red lipstick on her lips, a necklace around her neck, and was wearing a pink short skirt and top. She looked presentable and attractive. She wanted to impress James and make him attracted to her, so she made sure to show off her cleavage.
She got out of the car, checked her wristwatch, and realized she still had plenty of time before she needed to go to the party. She got back into her car, driving with only her right hand on the steering wheel, lost in thought.
"What if I go to James's house and find another woman there? Will he get angry because I didn't call him? I've been talking to him about the party, and all he said was that he'll give me feedback. Where will he give me the feedback? I wish I never loved him. My emotions are affecting me. I hate how he keeps ignoring me..." She couldn't stop complaining in her mind from her house until she arrived at James's house. She had wanted to let go of her feelings, but they were too strong.
She stopped in front of James's house and lost her enthusiasm for getting out of the car. She stayed there for a few minutes, resting her head on the steering wheel. She was confident that James was inside because she could hear music playing.
Unbeknownst to her, James had already seen her through the window. He knew she was there as soon as he heard the car sound.
"What is she doing here?" James asked himself. He was about to take a bath and still had his towel around his waist.
"Oh my goodness!" He exclaimed as he thought about what to say to her. "This is not the right time. I'm getting ready to go to the housewarming party that my darling Juliana invited me to," he thought. He turned his head left and right, closed his eyes, and tried to think of a way to ask Stephanie to go home.
"Hmm..." he hummed. "This is going to be very difficult," he said to himself, stamping the floor as he slowly walked to the front door of the living room. What James didn't know was that he took a few minutes to contemplate what to say to Stephanie , and during that time, Stephanie was already at the door, contemplating what to say to James.
As James opened the door, Stephanie was already standing close by. Their eyes immediately locked, and Stephanie was the first to speak, her voice filled with deep emotion.
"Honey, I came here to take you to the housewarming party."
"Housewarming party?" He asked, disbelievingly. His heart raced, and he thought, "It's the same event Juliana invited me to. What am I going to do?"
"You haven't seen me in so long. This is an opportunity for both of us to be together, just once. What have I done, James?"
"I'm sorry, I'm going somewhere. You didn't even tell me it was today. I thought it was tomorrow.”
"I told you, James. I told you," she said, her voice on the verge of tears. James went inside, and she followed him.
"I'm going somewhere, I'm sorry," he replied.
"Why are you doing this to me? Why do you want to embarrass me in front of my best friend?" Stephanie continued to follow him until he entered the bathroom in his bedroom. As soon as he entered the bathroom, he held his head in his hands and paced back and forth.
"I knew something like this would happen someday. How am I going to handle this?" As he contemplated how to escape the difficult situation he found himself in, his phone started ringing. James suddenly remembered that he had received a call from Juliana about twenty minutes ago, and she had promised to call back. The phone was on the bed, and as James heard it ringing, he unconsciously ran out of the bathroom, fearing Stephanie . But when he got out of the bathroom, he saw that Stephanie had picked up his phone from the bed.
James's heart raced once again. "Please don't answer the call," he thought, breathing heavily as if he had just run a hundred meters.
"Who is calling you?" Stephanie asked as she showed James the phone screen.
