Get out of my house right now
“What are you doing here? Get out right now!” Dora screamed, her voice shaking with anger.
Austin didn’t respond to her threat. Instead, his eyes focused on her swollen eyes and red nose. He could tell she had been crying for hours. He knew what he was about to do wasn’t fair, but after what Ronan had told him, he was terrified of losing Dora. He was willing to do whatever it took to keep her close, even if it meant forcing his way into her life.
He wasn’t surprised to find Dora alone. Ronan had already informed him that her parents were living with her sister.
“Didn’t you hear me? Get out of my house right now!” Dora shouted again, her voice breaking.
Austin stayed calm. He handed her an envelope and then casually sat down on the sofa.
“What the hell is this?” Dora snapped, glaring at the envelope.
“Court orders,” Austin replied, his tone calm but firm. “I don’t want to end up in jail for disobeying the judge’s decision. Since you refuse to live with me, I thought I’d move in here for the next six months.” He looked around the room, as if inspecting his new temporary home.
“I don’t care about the court order! Get out of my house right now!” Dora said through gritted teeth, her hands clenched into fists.
Austin stood up, and for a moment, Dora thought he might actually leave. But instead, he asked, “Where’s the bedroom? I’m exhausted and need to rest.”
Dora stared at him in disbelief. “Are you insane? After everything you’ve put me through, you think I’m going to live with you? In my own house?”
Austin shrugged. “Fine. If you don’t want me here, you can pack your things and move to my place. You’ve been there twice already. You know the way.”
Dora’s face turned red with anger. “I’m calling the police,” she said, reaching for her phone.
Austin didn’t flinch. “My lawyer has already given the police a copy of the court order. If you want to embarrass yourself by calling them, go ahead.”
Dora clenched her jaw, her eyes burning with hatred. She wanted to scream, to throw something at him, but she knew it wouldn’t help.
“Now, if you’re done, can you show me the bedroom? I’m really tired,” Austin said, his voice calm but firm.
Dora didn’t respond. Instead, she stormed into her room, slamming the door shut and locking it from the inside. She couldn’t bear to be near him, but she also couldn’t force him to leave. Feeling trapped, she grabbed her phone and called Sienna.
“He did what?” Sienna shrieked on the other end of the line.
“I don’t know what to do,” Dora cried. “He’s here, and he won’t leave.”
“I’m coming over right now,” Sienna said, hanging up.
As soon as the call ended, Dora heard a knock on her bedroom door. “Dora, please open the door,” Austin said softly.
“Why won’t you leave me alone? What else do you want from me?” Dora cried, her voice breaking.
“Let’s talk this out, okay? Please, just open the door,” Austin pleaded.
“I don’t want to see your face. I don’t want to talk to you. If you have any decency left, just leave!” Dora shouted, her voice muffled by the door.
A few minutes later, Sienna called Dora to let her know she had arrived. Dora hesitated but finally stepped out of her room, expecting to find Austin waiting for her. Instead, the house was empty. Austin was gone.
“Where is that jerk? I’m going to kick his ass tonight!” Sienna yelled as she barged through the door, followed closely by Douglas.
“He left,” Dora said, her voice hoarse from crying.
“When? How?” Sienna asked, looking around the room.
“I don’t know. I just noticed he’s gone,” Dora replied, her eyes scanning the room for his suitcase.
“What happened, Dora?” Douglas asked, his voice filled with concern.
Dora explained everything, how the judge had ordered them to live together for six months, how Austin had shown up at her door, and how he had refused to leave.
“I don’t want to live with him,” Dora sobbed, leaning her head on Sienna’s shoulder.
Douglas frowned, deep in thought. “If you refuse the court order, it’ll only make his case stronger,” he muttered.
“I’m sorry I dragged you both into this,” Dora said, wiping her tears.
“Dora, I think you should stay with Sienna tonight. You don’t look well,” Douglas said gently.
“It’s okay. I just need some time alone. Don’t worry about me,” Dora replied, her voice barely above a whisper.
“But how can you stay alone like this?” Sienna protested.
“Sienna, please. I just need to be alone,” Dora insisted, emphasizing the word ‘alone’.
Sienna opened her mouth to argue, but Douglas placed a hand on her shoulder and shook his head. He could see that Dora was exhausted, both emotionally and physically. She needed time to process everything before she could figure out how to deal with Austin.
After Sienna and Douglas left, Dora felt guilty for sending them away so quickly, especially after calling them for help. But she knew she needed to be alone to sort through her emotions. She went back to her room, lay down on the bed, and closed her eyes. She didn’t remember falling asleep, but her rest was interrupted when she felt someone gently patting her cheek.
Her eyes flew open, and she saw Austin sitting on the edge of her bed. A scream escaped her lips as she realized she had locked the door. How had he gotten in again?
“It’s okay, it’s just me,” Austin said softly, trying to calm her down.
“What are you doing here again? I thought you left,” Dora said, crawling back on the bed, her voice weak and tired.
“There was nothing to eat, so I went out to get some food. I knocked on the door, but when you didn’t answer, I came in. You shouldn’t sleep without eating,” Austin explained, holding a tray of food.
Dora was too exhausted to argue. Her mind felt numb, and waking up from such a deep sleep had left her disoriented.
“Austin, please. I’m really tired. Just leave. I’m begging you,” she pleaded, folding her hands in desperation.
“I’ll leave once you finish your dinner,” Austin said firmly.
“You’ll leave after that?”
“Yes.”
Dora didn’t say anything more. She silently ate the food while Austin watched her. Whether it was because of the exhausting day or because she hadn’t eaten since morning, she felt her eyelids grow heavy. Soon, she drifted back into a deep sleep.
Austin sat beside her for a long time, gently caressing her flushed cheek. “I’m sorry I added a sleeping pill to your food, but you needed rest. Your emotions are already at their peak after everything that happened today. I’m sorry for putting you through all this. Hate me if you want, but I’ll do anything if it’s for your good and if it means getting you back in my life,” he whispered.

The next morning, a gentle breeze brushed against Dora’s skin, waking her up. The warm sunlight streaming through the window made her smile. For the first time in a long while, she felt refreshed, as if it were the best morning she’d had in months.
The room was filled with a delicious aroma, and for a moment, she thought her mother was cooking. She jumped out of bed, excited to hug her mother and tell her how much she’d missed her and her dad. But her excitement turned to confusion when she saw a man’s back in the kitchen. Then, her confusion turned to rage when she realized it was Austin.
“What are you still doing here? And how dare you touch my things?” she shouted, marching into the kitchen.
“Good morning. You look fresh today. Breakfast will be ready in a minute,” Austin said, ignoring her anger.
Dora grabbed the plates from his hands. “You said you would leave. Get out right now!”
“Dora, let’s eat something and then talk about it,” Austin said calmly.
“I don’t want to eat or talk. Just get out before I do something I’ll regret,” she snapped.
Austin sighed but took the plates back from her and walked toward the dining table.
Seeing him so indifferent, Dora’s anger boiled over. She stomped over and threw the plates on the floor, screaming, “Get out of my house! Get out of my life!” In her rage, she didn’t notice that a shard of the broken plate had cut her leg, and she was bleeding.
Austin saw the blood and tried to stop her, but the more patient he was, the angrier she became. Finally, out of patience, he grabbed her shoulders and roared, “Enough! I said enough!” His voice made her flinch, and tears of anger streamed down her face.
“Now, listen to me carefully,” he said, gripping her firmly but not hard enough to hurt her. “I’m not leaving you. I’m staying with you. It’s up to you to decide whether you want to live here or at my place. Stop thinking you can get rid of me.”
“You can’t force me to stay with you,” Dora whined, her voice breaking. “Where were you all this time? Where were you when I begged you to stay with me? Where were you when I was grieving for our dead child? Where were you when I suffered through sleepless nights? Now you’re telling me you want to stay with me? I don’t have anything left for you to take away from me!” She laughed bitterly, her voice sounding almost mad.
Austin’s chest tightened when she mentioned their child.
“See, I don’t have you anymore. I don’t have my child. I don’t even have a job now. You humiliated me in front of everyone at work. I don’t even have the confidence to face anyone. I’m a broken woman. You can’t make me suffer more. Or is that what you want? Do you want me to become a whore so you can finally be satisfied and leave me?”
“What?” Austin was shocked by her words. Dora, with her messy hair and tear-stained face, looked like a madwoman as she continued to ramble.
“Yes, that’s it. That’s what you want. If that’s what it takes for you to leave me, then tonight I’ll fulfill your wish,” she said, wriggling in his arms. “I need a revealing outfit… some sexy makeup… oh, where can I find customers? Maybe a roadside… or a club… or a bar…”
Austin felt as if someone had stabbed him in the heart. “Dora,” he called, cupping her face, but she kept rambling.
Unable to take it anymore, Austin pulled her into a tight hug. A single tear escaped his eye. “I’m sorry,” he whispered, but Dora didn’t hear him. She kept mumbling incoherently, lost in her own world.
Overwhelmed by her emotions and weakened by days of not eating properly, Dora finally fainted in his arms. Austin held her tightly, his heart heavy with regret.
He carried her back to the bedroom and laid her gently on the bed. He tended to the cut on her leg, his hands trembling as he cleaned the wound. He couldn’t stop looking at her face, noticing how she frowned even in her unconsciousness, as if her pain followed her into sleep.
