Let’s take this to the bedroom

Charlotte’s POV

I should have stayed inside. The second I saw him walking towards me, my gut twisted. Luther. Of all people to bump into out here. My first thought was to bolt, to run along the beach until I could not hear his footsteps. But I was stuck, standing awkwardly between the shore and Stanley’s SUV.

Funny, Stanley turned out to be better company than I expected. We had grown closer lately. He even slid his car keys under my door when I refused to come out for days. Said I needed some air, a bit of freedom, a break from everything. He did not ask questions. He just gave me space.

"You came all this way just for me?" Luther’s voice carried over the wind.

I tucked some hair behind my ear, refusing to look impressed. "I thought I made it clear. Stay away from me."

"And yet here you are, on my land." He stopped a few feet away, eyes steady on mine. "You must have missed the big sign by the entrance."

That caught me off guard. I spun around to face him. “Your land?”

He gave a small shrug like it was the most normal thing in the world. I stared at him, then burst out laughing. “Is that your excuse now? Claiming land to get close to me?”

I leaned my weight to one hip, one hand resting at my waist while I gripped my beer bottle tighter with the other. He said nothing, just took a slow step closer, eyes locking onto mine like he was trying to get inside my head.

“You should not be here,” he said, his tone sharper now. His gaze dropped to my bare stomach and legs. I noticed. He noticed that I noticed.

His scent drifted between us, rich and expensive. It hit me like a memory I did not ask for. I wanted to move away, but my body would not listen. His presence always had that effect on me, unwanted and impossible to ignore. The shirt he wore clung to his chest just enough to show the lines of muscle I remembered all too well.

“I am not going anywhere,” I said, lifting my chin. My heart thudded like I had just run a mile. I thought he had left town. Seeing him here, like this, messed with me more than I wanted to admit.

“You have not changed a bit,” he said, eyeing the bottle. I lifted it slightly, ready to drink—but before I could, he grabbed it right out of my hand.

“What is your problem?” I snapped, reaching up to take it back. He stepped aside and raised the bottle above his head, out of my reach. He was tall, too tall and I did not stand a chance without my heels.

“You are not even old enough for this,” he said, looking at me like he had any right to judge.

“You are not my dad. Give it back.”

He smirked. “No, but I could be your daddy.”

The heat that rushed through my body made it hard to breathe. My nipples tightened against the fabric of my top, betraying me.

“You react so easily to me,” he murmured, dropping the bottle and sliding one arm around my waist. He pulled me close. And I did not fight it. Not this time.

I should have pulled away. But his touch made it hard to think straight. I did not expect to see him, not here, not now.

“Luther,” I said, barely louder than a breath.

He did not answer. Instead, I felt his mouth against my neck, warm and slow, sending a rush of heat straight through me. My knees weakened, and I almost sank into the sand when he pulled me tighter. I could feel how hard he was against my stomach, and it made my head spin.

“Let me go,” I whispered, but his mouth stayed on my skin, making me arch my neck back.

“I have already let you go three times,” he murmured. “It is not happening again.”

His voice sent shivers through me. I could barely think before he dropped the bottle he was holding and swept me into his arms. Instinct took over, I wrapped my legs around his waist as he began carrying me toward the cabin. It was only a short walk, but with him pressing against me like that, it felt endless.

All I could think about was the ache building between my thighs, the desperate need for relief. His grip on me was firm, his hands squeezing my backside and pulling me even closer. I should have stopped him. I should have told him to put me down, run to Stanley’s car, and drive far away from this chaos. But I didn’t. I held onto his neck like my life depended on it.

“I came here to forget you,” he said roughly, reaching into his pocket for the cabin key. “And I found you instead.”

He opened the door without letting me go. Once we were inside, he kicked the door shut behind us and carried me straight to the couch. He lowered me gently onto the cushions and hovered above me, holding his weight on his arms so he would not crush me.

“Same,” I whispered.

His breath was hot on my neck as he spoke again. “Do you enjoy driving me crazy? Showing up when I am trying to focus?”

His mouth was close, too close. My eyes dropped to his lips, parted and warm, still tasting of beer. He looked into my eyes like he was searching for something, something only I could give. And then, slowly, he leaned down and kissed me.

It started soft. His hand came up to cup my face as he deepened the kiss. My eyes closed, my lips opened, and when he bit down gently, I gasped, and he took full advantage. His tongue slid into my mouth, teasing and claiming, until I melted beneath him. He groaned against me, pushing his hips forward as our bodies pressed tighter together. I moaned into his mouth, and the heat between my legs became unbearable. I only pulled back when my lungs begged for air.

“You taste incredible,” he breathed against my lips, his fingers brushing along my waist and sending chills over my skin.

When I opened my eyes, his gaze was already on me, soft but dark, studying every part of my face. I felt my cheeks flush and shut my eyes again, trying to steady my heartbeat.

“Luther,” I whispered, letting my hands run over the muscles along his back. He hissed at the touch, and the sound shot straight through me. I could feel how badly I wanted him now, how impossible it was to hold it in anymore. He lifted me again, this time more carefully, and murmured in a voice that made my stomach twist in anticipation, “Let’s take this to the bedroom.”
