Are you sure your mom is okay?

Sadie left the kitchen, still wearing the apron Justin had given her, and made her way to the sitting room to open the door for Daisy. As soon as Daisy heard the key turning in the lock, she stopped knocking, and Sadie was the one who grabbed the doorknob and opened the door.
“Welcome, Daisy,” Sadie greeted her with a light embrace. “Did you see your mom?” she asked.
“No, but we talked on the phone. By the time I arrived at my grandparents’ house, she had already left. But we had a conversation, and I felt somewhat satisfied with what she told me.” Daisy spoke impulsively, raising her voice as she noticed they were taking a while to stand in the sitting room.
“I thought you were cooking. Won’t it burn? Let’s go to the kitchen.” Unknowingly to Daisy, her dad was the one cooking. They left the sitting room and headed to the kitchen. As soon as they entered, Daisy was taken aback to see her dad wearing an apron and staring at something in the frying pan.
“What? Dad? Are you the one cooking?” She stood frozen, her surprise causing Justin to glance at Sadie.
“Ask him…”
“Ask her,” they both said simultaneously. Justin smiled and let Sadie continue.
“I told your dad that I would prepare breakfast, but he said no.”
“I can’t remember the last time my dad cooked in this kitchen, except for making his coffee,” Daisy thought, her facial expressions not convinced by their explanation.
“Is that all?” Justin gestured with his hands, signaling for Sadie to continue.
“That’s all…”
“What about your trip back? You mentioned you were going to travel. So I thought I shouldn’t bother you and offered to cook, but you disagreed,” he said as he interrupted Sadie.
“Are you really going away?” Daisy wore a surprised expression this time and moved closer to Sadie. “Did they call you for the interview?” Daisy asked. Sadie only smiled and nodded, observing Daisy’s reaction.
“But you didn’t tell me. Why?” Daisy asked.
“The message came this morning when you were out. I was definitely going to tell you as soon as you come back.”
“What about the picnic? I know my mom and dad ruined those plans,” she glared at her dad with anger.
“I’ll still go with you,” he said.
“I did it for you and Mom,” Daisy replied.
“I’m not the one who messed it up. I’m ready to go with you. It was your mom who left. What did she leave? Didn’t you ask her?”
“I should be asking you that. She told me to ask you,” Daisy said angrily.
“Please, Daisy, don’t be so angry. Your dad has told me wonderful things about you. He even said no one can replace you in his heart.”
“When did I say that?” Justin thought, looking at Sadie as she effortlessly convinced Daisy.
“Did he really say that?” Daisy asked again, wanting to be sure.
“Yes, Daisy, you probably don’t know how much your dad loves you,” Sadie reassured her.
Relief washed over Daisy’s face, and some of the hidden anger dissipated.
“Are you really traveling tomorrow?” she asked, looking at Sadie.
“That’s what she said,” Justin replied to Daisy’s question.
“If that’s the case, Sadie, let’s go to your room and talk,” Daisy suggested. When she saw her dad looking at them as if they were about to leave the kitchen, she added, “It’s a ladies' talk. I can't discuss it here." They both smiled and left the kitchen and went into Sadie’s room. Daisy was the one who closed the door, and before Daisy could say anything, Sadie asked,
“Are you sure your mom is okay? The way you said it when you first came in made it seem like everything was well.”
“Actually, everything is not well. But my mom said that leaving this house and my dad will help her clear her doubts about the marriage and whether it will continue or not.”
“Okay, in that case, let’s wait and see what happens. I hope everything works out,” Sadie replied.
“That’s exactly what I wish for my parents.”
“You never told me your dad used to be a baseball player and even a coach,” Sadie said, but Daisy didn’t respond immediately. She sighed, blinked her eyes, and said,
“I didn’t do it on purpose.”
“What do you mean, Daisy?” Sadie asked, encouraging her to speak.
“To be honest with you, I didn’t want to talk much about my dad because I noticed that it pains you when anything reminds you of your dad, and he is nowhere to be found." The room fell silent immediately. Sadie took a deep breath and said,
“Now, I won’t take offense. It’s not that I don’t know where my dad is, that’s not the only problem. I don’t know what he looks like. My mom didn’t even know him. I don’t want to talk much about it because it causes me a lot of pain.” Her voice slowly trailed off.
“That’s why I purposely don’t talk about my dad, and besides, he travels a lot. This was the only time you visited when my dad was around, probably because he had left his job as the head coach of the Rangers. Let’s forget about that. I have a new plan for you since you’ll be traveling soon.”
“What plan?” Sadie asked.
“I want us to go to the bar this evening. There’s a bar where responsible, attractive guys usually go in the evening.”
Sadie burst out laughing, surprising Daisy, who waited until she calmed down.
“Why are you laughing?” Daisy asked.
“How did you know there are responsible guys there?”
“That’s what my boyfriend said. It’s true. I want a good guy for you. Let’s go there this evening.”
“When are we coming back?”
“Coming back?” Daisy widened her eyes. “When you find the right guy, it means I’ll leave you there and see you the next morning." She started laughing. “Your emotions need to be settled by one of those hot guys, and it will help you a lot,” she added.
“Ladies, breakfast is ready!” Justin knocked on Sadie’s door cheerfully, interrupting their conversation.
“Okay, Dad, we’re coming,” Daisy replied. She turned to Sadie and continued, “I want you to have a boyfriend before you leave so that you can communicate with each other. It will help you forget about Leo. Trust me, having someone new in your life will always disrupt any thoughts of Leo. I don’t want you to go back and start thinking about Leo again, as it will only make you sad. Am I not telling the truth? What are you thinking?”
“Nothing, Daisy. I’m just thinking about how everything will go well,” Sadie replied to her.
“Good. Before we go to the dining table, let me go to my room and get some clothes that will show off your curves. No man can look at you and not want to hold you closer.”
“You’re at it again,” Sadie playfully touched her Daisy as she was about to leave the room.
“Imagine if I had an older brother, I would have set both of you up on a date,” Daisy said jokingly.
“Really?” Sadie chuckled.
“Yes,” and Daisy left the room. It was when Daisy left that Sadie remembered she had collected some of Daisy’s revealing clothes.
“Okay, if he comes back, I’ll tell her,” she said to herself, then she laid with her back on the bed and closed her eyes.
After a couple of minutes with her eyes closed, Sadie felt as if someone’s hand was moving close to her eyes, checking if she was asleep. When she felt a breeze across her face, she immediately opened her eyes.
“What?” she shouted, startled, and quickly sat up. It was Justin, passing his fingers in front of her eyes.
“You startled me, Justin,” she said, her breathing still fast.
“I’m sorry, I thought you were sleeping. I came into the room and saw your eyes closed. I’ve been waiting for you and Daisy at the dining table. Aren’t you both eating anymore?”
Sadie didn’t answer right away. She fell back onto the bed, stretching her arms and legs and arching her back, making her breasts more visible without a bra.
“I’m waiting for your daughter. Once she comes, we’ll come together,” she replied.
Justin swiftly moved closer to Sadie’s right ear, as if he wanted to embrace her, and placed his right hand on the bed, whispering into her ear.
“Where are you ladies going this evening? I overheard when I was standing at the door a few minutes ago.”
He sounded funny, and it seemed like Sadie was tickled by his words. She giggled on the bed, looking very alluring and tempting.
“Please tell me before Daisy comes in here,” he said playfully, touching her lovely nose. Sadie giggled uncontrollably on the bed again. At the same time, Justin heard footsteps on the stairs, and he quickly left the room.
A few seconds later, Daisy entered the room holding a bunch of clothes and immediately looked around.
“Who were you laughing with?” Daisy asked, shifting her gaze to Sadie. When Sadie didn’t know how to respond at first, Daisy added,
“Are you hiding something from me?”
“No, I was on the phone,” Sadie replied.
“Do you have a new boyfriend?” Daisy asked, placing the clothes on the bed.
“No, just a friend, and I don’t think you know the person,” Sadie replied.
“Hmm…” Daisy hummed, unsatisfied. Then Sadie said,
“It’s not what you’re thinking. By the way, what’s the name of the bar we’re going to later today?”
“Now you’re interested? When I first suggested it, you weren’t keen,” Daisy raised her eyebrows.
“Please tell me, I know you have good plans for me,” Sadie insisted.
“It’s called the Royal Evidence Bar. Are you satisfied now?”
“Yes,” Sadie replied.
Suddenly, there was a clapping of hands at the door, and both Daisy and Sadie turned their attention to it.
“Ladies, how long will I have to invite you to the dining room? The meal will get cold. Or is it because I’m the one who prepared it that you’re not showing interest?” Justin exclaimed.
“No, no,” Sadie quickly responded.
“Sadie, let’s go and eat, and we can continue our conversation afterwards,” Daisy said.
As they were about to leave, Sadie was almost at the door with Daisy when she quickly remembered something and went back.
“Let me grab my phone.”
This caused Daisy and Justin to move ahead of her towards the dining room. As Sadie was coming out of her room, she decided to quickly open the message she received from the dating app and know the date sent to her.
“Dear Stella, we apologize…”
