Sadie waited for about thirty seconds before she took her first step and her eyes were on Daisy's eyes. Daisy's eyes were closed and her phone was in her right hand as she slept on the couch. Some minutes ago after Sadie had entered her room, Daisy continuously called her dad's phone number until she decided to send her dad a text message. And at the same time, she decided not to lock the door as she was eagerly waiting for her dad.
“Hi dad, where are you that you are not picking up your calls? I am at home. Are you not coming home today?”
After sending the message, it didn't take much time when she received a message from her dad, and this was before Sadie sent her own message.
“Hi Daisy. I'm at the bar with friends. I will soon be coming home. I'm sorry I didn't pick your calls. I didn't take note that my phone was in silent mode.”
The message gave Daisy the courage to wait for her dad and because she was tired, she decided to rest her back on the couch, and before she knew it, she had lay down on the couch and slept off while her phone was at her fingertips.
It was about twenty minutes later that Justin sent a new text message to his daughter after Justin and Sadie agreed to meet at the hotel.
“My sweetheart! I am very sorry. I don't think I will be able to make it home again. I'm sleeping over and I will come home tomorrow morning.”
Daisy woke up to see this message and she immediately stood up and read the message again after waking up properly.
“You should have sent this message the first time,” she thought and went and locked the door. She was about to climb the stairs to her room when she decided to check on Sadie again before going to her room. All she thought was that Sadie must have fallen asleep. On getting to her door, she discovered that the door was not locked.
“Sadie!” She called with a low voice. She pushed the door and saw that her bed was empty.
“Where has she gone to? Hmm.. she must be in her restroom,” she thought and
checked the restroom and everywhere in the room and saw that she was nowhere to be found.
“Did she go back to the bar? When?” She exclaimed. The feeling of sleep left her eyes and she quickly took her phone and called her number. To her greatest surprise, her phone was switched off.
“When did she leave the house that I didn't notice? I guess when I was sleeping on the couch. No, no, I must look for a boyfriend for Sadie. It will not be more than tomorrow.” She said as she climbed the stairs and went to her room.
The next morning she woke up all alone in the big house and the first thing she did was to dial Sadie's phone number. Still, her number was switched off. Out of curiosity, she thought that Sadie might have returned from the bar in the middle of the night. So she decided to go to her room. Just the same way she left the room, that was how it was.
“What happened to Sadie?” She became worried and she wasn't worried about her dad because it was her dad who said he would be coming the next day. She dialed Sadie's phone again and it was still switched off.
The next thing that entered her mind was to prepare breakfast. She went back to her room and took off her nightgown and put on a brown gown and went straight to the kitchen.
As she was cooking, she was checking the time and after about forty minutes, she finished cooking and she remembered something she usually did when they were at her father's former house. Which was preparing her dad's morning coffee and taking it to his room.
“But dad is not at home and moreover, he might lock his door.” She said to herself and later turned on the gas burner. She took everything she prepared to the dining table and was waiting for both her dad and Sadie to come and he wasn't expecting them to come at the same time.
Consciously, she took her phone again and dialed Sadie's phone number and it was still switched off.
“Has Sadie gone back to her place?” She thought and climbed the stairs to check if her dad locked his room. Surprisingly, the door wasn't locked.
The opening of Justin's door happened yesterday when Justin rushed after Sadie when she left the house in anger and in the process, he didn't remember to lock his door.
“The door is open!” Daisy felt excited and wanted to bring back past memories. With a smile on her face, she went back to the kitchen to prepare the hot coffee. The kettle of water was on the fire when her phone started ringing. Her first thought was, it was Sadie, who was calling her. As she looked at her phone screen, she saw that it was her mum who was calling.
“Hi mum…” she said and her mum quickly interrupted.
“Daisy, how was your night?”
“It was fine.”
“Is anyone with you there?” Juliana asked.
“No.”
“I mean Sadie and Justin.”
“I am alone in the kitchen.”
“So where are Justin and Sadie?” Juliana asked at once.
“Mum, you suspect someone too much. It's obvious you still have feelings for my dad. Despite your shocking attitude when Gabriel came to visit you.”
“Daisy, that was the main reason I called. Let's forget about Justin or Sadie. I mean you are not happy with me, but…”
“Mum stop, you are in love with that guy, called Gabriel. I saw the way you were looking at him when I tried to take you inside and to my disbelief. You ran after him with your car. Let's say that aspect of your life has been settled. But remember what you told me, you are older than him.”
“Enough! Enough!! I didn't bring up this matter so that you can talk ill about my relationship. Although, my relationship with Gabriel is in a monitoring stage. A few months from now, I will give my final verdict.”
Out of nowhere, Daisy burst out laughing.
“Mum, you are in love with him. I'm not a kid. I know what love is.”
“You know what love is, but you always allow your boyfriend to travel out of the city whenever he likes.”
“Mum, mum, mum, please stop. I have a plan for that.”
“Fine, I will stop. So when are you coming to my house?” Juliana asked.
“Hmmm… not very soon.”
“When?”
“I will come but not now, moreover, let me stay with Sadie for the time being before she goes back. In fact, I might convince her to look for a job in the city.”
“Good-bye, whenever we are discussing, please don't mention your friend's name. I don't know why I have this hatred for her.”
“Bye mum, I will come to you later. You are too sensitive. Don't you think this was the reason you broke up with dad?”
“Bye!” Juliana ended the call and all Daisy could do was to giggle as she recurred how her mum ended the call.
By this time, the water was already boiling. She turned off the gas burner and prepared her dad's favorite coffee and took it to her dad's room. The moment he entered the room, she fell in love with the way the furniture was arranged. She gently placed the coffee on the stool near the bed and she moved her eyes along every section of the room. From the bed, to the wardrobe and the round glassy table at the extreme and the two beautiful chairs. Then she walked closer to the pictures on the wall. She saw several of her pictures and the last picture was the three of them; she, her dad and Sadie.
Out of curiosity, she opened her dad's wardrobe and was admiring the different set of clothes and shoes and she used all of this to buy time. The wardrobe was still opened when she remembered that she had been only calling Sadie, and she had not called her dad. She stepped backwards and sat on the bed and dialed her dad's phone number.
“Hello dad, how was your day?” she asked.
“It was very nice.”
“Where are you right now?”
“I am on my way home.”
“Okay! I have been trying to reach Sadie and her number is not going through. She is not at home and I am beginning to be afraid.”
“There is no need to be afraid. She must have visited someone you don't know. I hope she will be back before 9am.”
“Guess what? I just prepared your favorite coffee. I couldn't resist myself of not telling you.”
“Wow…that's my darling. I will be at home before the next one hour.”
“Cool,” Daisy started laughing and ended the call. And as she was moving her head and enjoying the sweet conversation between daughter and father, her eyes came in contact with something unusual. She quickly stood up and walked towards the opened wardrobe. The more she was walking closer to it, the more she recognized what she was seeing.
“Is this not Sadie's bra?” She raised it up with her two fingers and widened her eyes in shock.
