House Party
*Sadie's pov*
*This seemed too good to be true. Eric's recent behavior has placed him in a position where I will always be afraid of him.*
*"Is this not the Eric I knew?" I asked myself as I considered leaving the car. Suddenly, his voice softened as he changed his tone.*
*"Sadie, I'm not here to harm you. I'm here to apologize for the terrible impression I made of myself. I'm truly sorry for the way I acted when I came to your house. It was the worst thing I've ever done to someone, especially you."*
*The more he tried to please me, the more I felt that Daisy had made a terrible mistake. This felt like forced begging. I didn't have a choice but to politely nod my head as if I had accepted. The more I pretended to support him, the more I saw relief on his face.*
*Who wouldn't want to pretend to have accepted what Eric said in such a condition? My heart was in my hands, and deep down, I planned to tell Daisy at the party and express my displeasure of how she didn't inform me that Eric will be the one to carry me to the party.*
*As Eric did his best to win me over, the car continued to move, and he said,*
*"Sadie! I want to ask for another favor."*
*"What favor?" I asked, feeling more confident as he pleaded.*
*"I don't want to be alone at the party. Can you be my partner? " He presented a red rose and held it before my eyes. For me, this was a blessing in disguise. I was already trying to keep myself busy so that Justin and I wouldn't be too close. If I decided to accept Eric's proposal, it meant that both of us would appear close, as if we were dating, and no one would notice Justin and me. But I needed to play a little hard to get and still show that I was comfortable, even though deep down, I felt like fainting.*
*"Are you asking me out on a date?"*
*"No, just to show that you've forgotten about me," he replied.*
*Then the car fell silent again, and because the car windows were tinted, I couldn't see where we were. Then Eric added,*
*"After today's party, when can we see each other again? From the moment I laid my eyes on you, I lost control of myself. Seeing your picture was the best thing my elder brother Justin did for me. Since then, I've lost track of time."*
*Since we were still in the car and I thought he had more authority, and also because I couldn't open the door, I smiled at him. These small facial expressions gave him great assurance.*
*"Please, I'm waiting," he said.*
*"I'll get back to you," I replied, and surprisingly, he took my right hand and kissed the back of it.*
*Finally, the driver stopped the car, and Eric said,*
*"We've arrived at the new house of my brother, Justin. Please wait, let me get out first and open your door."*
*When Eric said those words, the feeling of being abducted immediately left me. He got out of the car, and a few seconds later, what I thought would last forever finally came to an end. I stepped out of the car, and Eric offered to hold my hand.*
*"Thank you," I said with a smile and I didn't allow him to hold my hand, and it felt as if I had regained my power and was no longer powerless in the car. We walked closely together into the magnificent duplex. It was a beautiful building, and I couldn't help but stop to admire the external architectural design. It was a dream house, and I saw several people entering the building.*
*When we finally entered, my first task was to find Daisy. When I saw her, I immediately expressed my displeasure about her sending Eric to pick me up from the house. I grabbed Daisy's hand and took her outside the house, where a DJ was already playing a sweet and melodious song.*
*"What have you done to me? Why did you cooperate with Eric?" I asked, showing my anger.*
*"How?" she asked, clearly not understanding why I was upset.*
*"You allowed Eric to come and take me as if I was being abducted. I didn't expect that from you," I said.*
*"Oh no," she exclaimed, stomping her feet on the floor. "I didn't call Eric. I called the other person in charge of the event, but we forgot that Eric was among the people organizing the event.”*
*"I was so scared that I almost agreed to go on a date with him..." I paused as Daisy's phone started ringing, and it was her mum calling.*
*"Where are you, Daisy?" her mum asked.*
*"I'm outside with Sadie."*
*"Okay, I just wanted to let you know that I am no longer comfortable at the party..." her mum hadn't finished her sentence when Daisy interrupted.*
*"Why? I'll join you soon."*
*"Stephanie is no longer coming, and the man I told you about is still not coming. I'm starting to feel very uncomfortable, and I don't want to hold you back. You have friends to be with."*
*"Please wait, I'm coming," Daisy said, and she wanted me to follow her. But knowing that her mum had some hidden negative feelings towards me, I said,*
*"Please let me take this opportunity to say hi to your dad. I haven't even met him yet," and we went our separate ways.*
***********
*Author's pov*
*Daisy went to meet her mum, who was getting ready to leave the event. The moment her mum saw Daisy, she stood up.*
*"Mum, please wait. I'm here with you," Daisy said.*
*"I know, but your friends need your attention. Are you going to leave your boyfriend? I thought you said he's on his way here," her mum replied.*
*"Yes!" Daisy answered.*
*"I don't want to separate you two. Stephanie is upset at home because her boyfriend let her down, and my..."*
*"Boyfriend," Daisy jokingly finished her mum's sentence, and they both smiled.*
*"Mum, why don't you call this man and see if he can come here again? Or change his mind. I want you to stay, Mum."*
*"Okay, let me give him a call." Juliana took her phone and dialed James's number. After a few seconds, he answered the call.*
*"Hi, sweetheart, I just wanted to let you know that I'm feeling very uncomfortable here. My friend Stephanie couldn't make it, and I'm alone and want to go home."*
*"Please wait. Can you wait for me? I don't want you to be uncomfortable anywhere," James asked.*
*"Can you make it?" Juliana asked and was surprised.*
*"Yes, if it will make you happy, I can come, just for you.”*
*"If that's the case, I'll wait for you."*
*"I'm on my way, the address is already in my phone."*
*"Yes, I had sent it," she said happily before ending the call.*
*"He's coming," Juliana said winked.*
*"Great! I want to meet this man who's making my mum so happy," Daisy teased her mum.*
*"He's just a friend for now," Juliana replied.*
*"But you called him 'sweetheart' a few minutes ago," Daisy chuckled.*
*"Yes… I wanted to arouse his emotions and…" Before Juliana could finish her sentence, Justin appeared in front of them wearing an almost complete white suit. He extended his right hand for a handshake, but Juliana just watched.*
*"Please shake his hand," Daisy whispered in her mum's ear, and they finally shook hands.*
*"Thanks for coming. I never expected it," Justin said.*
*"I'm not as cold-hearted as you," Juliana replied, and all Justin could do was smile at Juliana before leaving. Once he was far away, Juliana asked Daisy,*
*"Have you seen any woman with him? That's your job at this event."*
*"No, I haven't," Daisy replied.*
*"Then keep a close eye on him. I think he has another plan," Juliana said, lowering her voice.*
*"What plan, Mum?" Daisy asked.*
*"I have a feeling he will introduce a new lady to his guests, and someone from the guests might ask him about her," Juliana replied.*
*"How are you so sure, Mum?"*
*"I'm not entirely sure, but I'm prepared for it. Wait, let me call my man." Juliana took out her phone and dialed James's number.*
*"Hi Gabriel, where are you?" Juliana asked.*
*"I'm very close. I'll give you a call as soon as I arrive," Gabriel replied.*
*"Okay," Juliana ended the call and turned to face Daisy, knowing she wanted to say something.*
*"Mum, tell me the truth. Are you bringing this man as a backup plan, or do you actually like him?" Daisy asked.*
*"I kind of have feelings for him," Juliana admitted. Then she looked up and said to Daisy, "You're not keeping an eye on your dad. The party is going on, and here we are discussing. What about your friend, Sadie? Don't you think she's with your dad right now?"*
*"Mom…," Daisy stood up angrily. "I thought we settled that already. Sadie is with Eric. I hope they get along. It was the two of them who came together."*
*"Is Eric dating Sadie?" Juliana asked.*
*"That's what I hope for. Eric is obsessed with her, and he couldn't control himself at one point." Daisy and her mum could communicate well as they were far from the music of the housewarming, and where they were sitting was away from where the party was taking place.*
*Daisy was whispering something into her mum's ear when Juliana's phone suddenly rang.*
*"It's my man calling. Let's go outside to see him," Juliana said. Daisy and Juliana stepped out of the house, and the moment Juliana set her eyes on James, she smiled. Before they reached him, Daisy said in a low voice,*
*"I can see you're in love with this man."*
*"How? Just because I smiled?" Juliana replied.*
*They approached James, who walked towards them, and they met in the middle.*
*"Hi Gabriel, meet my daughter, Daisy," Juliana introduced, smiling. They all shook hands, and before Gabriel could compliment Daisy and Juliana's appearance, they heard the host of the event saying,*
*"Please, everyone, let's welcome Mr. Justin as he has a special message to share about someone very special to him."*
*The moment Juliana and Daisy heard those words, Juliana said immediately,*
*"Let's go inside and see what's about to happen.”*
