Get wet whenever he looks at me
“Oh, we’re back to using surnames now?” Sienna raised an eyebrow, trying to keep her tone light.
“I was having a breakdown. You can’t expect us to still be friends,” he replied, rolling his eyes.
“Dora.”
That single word was all it took. Sienna’s tough act shattered, and she collapsed into her best friend’s arms.
“I loved him, damn it,” she whispered through quiet sobs.
“I’ll get some tea,” Austin excused himself, giving the friends some space.
“He said he’s sorry,” Doramurmured, gently rubbing Sienna’s back.. something she’d picked up from Austin. “Forgive him, Sienna. Otherwise, you’ll never be able to move on.”
Sienna gave a small nod. “I do... I forgive him.”
Later, she sat up straighter, wiping her eyes as Austin handed her a cup of tea.
“You don’t think I poisoned it, do you?” he teased with a smirk.
“You don’t have the balls,” Sienna fired back, and both women burst into laughter. Austin just rolled his eyes at them, secretly glad to see her smile again.
As they were leaving, Dora suddenly turned to Sienna. “Be ready by 7:30 tonight.”
Sienna narrowed her eyes. “Why?”
“We’re going to a club. And I’m not taking no for an answer,” Dora grinned.
“Oh, Ms Addison’s too scared to go out now?” Austin added with a wicked smile.
Sienna scoffed. “Tell her not to come by 7:30. Make it 8. I need time to look stunning,” she said, flipping her hair dramatically.
As Austin and Dora headed to the car, Sienna watched them with a soft smile.
“I’m sorry, Dora,” Austin said again, he’d lost count of how many times he’d said those words.
“I know,” she replied quietly.
“I should never have believed you were cheating on me with Daniel… or forced you to end the pregnancy,” he continued, his voice low as the elevator doors closed around them.
“It still hurts that you even thought that of me,” Dora whispered. “I get why your mother tried to come between us, but how could you believe her?”
Austin stayed silent.
“How’s your mother now?” Dora Asked, changing the subject.
“She’s awake. Out of the coma, but she’s still not fully recovered. Can’t do much without Noah’s help. The therapist says she needs time, but she might recover if she really tries.”
He hesitated.
“She wants to see you. She wants to apologise.”
Dora Didn't respond for a long time. Austin’s heart raced, had he said too much too soon?
Finally, she spoke. “Austin, what your mother and Paulina did... I’ll never forget. But I’m not just a woman anymore. I’m a mother now. I have a son to think about. And even if I’m still hurt... I know you love me. And I love you.”
“Am I still yours?” he asked softly.
Without warning, Dora Grabbed his collar and pulled him close. “Yes. Whether you like it or not.”
That had become their rhythm, Austin asking for forgiveness, Dora Asking for time. She still lived with her parents. Austin never pressured her. A saved Dora Was better than a missing one, that was his mantra.
He was grateful to her parents, too, who didn’t shut him out. They let him see her, see their son. And this was the first time in two months she’d agreed to go out with him.
He didn't care what they were doing, just that she said yes.
As the elevator opened, he pulled her into a tight hug.
“I don’t want to lose you like Douglas. He said he’d chase you in the next life. But I want to be with you in all our lives,” he whispered.
“You won’t,” she murmured, wrapping her arms around him.
They walked out together, hand in hand.
“So, what’s special about today?” she asked, raising a brow.
“And you still haven’t told me where we’re going.”
“I got you a dress. Will you wear it?” he asked instead.
Dora gave him a suspicious look... but nodded.
At 7 p.m., Austin was already playing with Amayr, nervously checking the time. Then he heard the click of heels.
He looked up and froze. Dora Stood there in a black lace dress that hugged her curves perfectly. Her makeup was soft and natural, her hair falling freely over her shoulders. She looked like a dream.
James cleared his throat.
Austin snapped his head away, realising he’d been shamelessly staring in front of her father and their son.
“You want her wearing that?” James asked sternly.
“Oh, come on, James,” Dora’s mother said, smiling. “He’s her husband. If he’s happy, let her shine. She looks beautiful.”
Dora blushed and lowered her gaze.
“Shall we?” Austin asked, awkward but eager.
“Make sure she’s back by 11,” James said firmly.
“She’s not a teenager anymore, and she’s going out with her husband!” her mother interjected.
James shot Austin a look. “She might love you, but it’s going to take more to earn my trust.”
Austin met his gaze calmly. “I’m ready to wait, sir.”
And with that, they walked out, the night waiting for them.
Their next stop was Sienna’s place. She stepped out, dressed to slay in a green shimmer bodycon dress that stopped mid-thigh. Her bold red lipstick popped under the streetlight.
Dora smiled. Dressing up was Sienna’s way of pretending everything was normal.
Austin let out a low whistle. “Let’s ditch Dora and make it a night for two,” he said, winking at Sienna.
“Idiot,” she shot back, bored. Dora burst out laughing.
“Witch,” Austin muttered, but the corner of his lips twitched.
To their surprise, Austin drove them to the same club.
“You’re kidding, right?” Sienna frowned. “No stags allowed tonight.”
“Who said we’re stag?” Austin replied just as Daniel came into view.
“Him?” Sienna groaned. “I’d rather sit in the car than be his date.”
“Please, Sienna,” Dora begged with wide, innocent eyes.
“Ugh, fine,” she said and stepped out of the car.
Daniel scowled when he saw Sienna. “Her? God barely saved me last time. Who’s saving me tonight?”
“Glad you remember,” Sienna shot back, tugging Dora along. “Maybe next time you’ll think twice before getting too close to an unconscious woman.”
Daniel hurried after her. “Excuse me? You think you looked sexy lying in a hospital gown with a bruised face?”
“Then why were you standing so close when I woke up?” she demanded, arms crossed and hips tilted.
“There was a fly on your face. I was shooing it away,” he said weakly.
Austin narrowed his eyes. “Really?”
Daniel sighed. “Believe what you want.” He walked inside.
Later, amid the pulsing music and colourful lights, Dora leaned toward Austin and asked, “So, what exactly are we celebrating?”
Austin raised his voice to be heard. “One year ago, I met you right here. And I’ve thanked fate every day since.”
Dorablinked, touched. She hadn’t realized he remembered that night.
“So this is an anniversary?” Daniel shouted nearby, but the couple ignored him completely.
“May I have this dance?” Austin asked, extending his hand.
Dora placed her hand in his, and everything else disappeared. He guided her to the dance floor, hands resting firmly on her hips. She fit perfectly in his embrace. Their bodies moved in sync, the rhythm pulling them closer. At one point, he twirled her, then caught her against his chest, fingers locked with hers.
She giggled when she felt something hard press against her backside.
“How do you like your gift?” Austin whispered.
Dora looked down, and saw a delicate diamond ring on her finger.
With a wicked grin, she pushed herself against him. “How about a return gift, daddy?” she whispered, licking his ear before blowing softly.
Austin groaned, gripping her tighter. “You’re being very, very naughty.”
“Spank me then,” she teased, placing his hand on her hip.
But their steamy moment was interrupted by a scream. The DJ cut the music.
“How dare you touch her!” a familiar voice roared.
“Let’s go,” Austin said calmly, tugging Dora toward the chaos.
They found Daniel pummeling a man on the floor.
“She said no! No means no!” Daniel yelled, punching again.
“Do something!” Dora begged Austin.
“I already did,” he replied.
“What?” she blinked.
“Remember the favour he asked at the hospital?” Austin said as he led her out.
“Yes, but..”
“He asked for Sienna’s number. Begged me for a double date tonight.”
Dora gasped. “You’re kidding.”
“Nope. Ever since she sassed him at the hospital, he’s been curious. More than curious now.”
Dora glanced back, and there was Daniel, dragging a protesting-but-smiling Sienna toward his car.
“Come on,” Austin murmured, brushing a strand of hair from her face. “Let’s go repeat what happened a year ago.”
He leaned in, eyes full of heat. “Who knows? Maybe this time, we’ll make a princess.”
And just like that, the night that started with old memories ended with the promise of a beautiful new beginning.
