It's three from now

Sadie's pov

When I saw Daisy taking her first step towards my bathroom door, I was at a loss for words. My heart raced as if I were standing on the edge of a very high cliff. I panicked, but halfway to the bathroom, my brain came up with something to prevent her from going inside.

I hurriedly positioned myself in front of her with a smile on my face and said,

"Please, please, my bathroom is a complete mess, and I don't want you to see how untidy it is. I'm really sorry, and I'm even ashamed of myself."

Daisy looked at me and let out a sigh, not attempting to push past me.

"But I need to..." she started to say.

"Then let's go to your room," I interrupted with a smile, and it worked as expected. What would I have told Daisy if she saw her dad with a wet body in my bathroom? It simply indicated that we had just made love together.

Daisy and I left my room and went to hers. I locked her door as she entered her bathroom to freshen up. Some minutes later, she came out, and this time, she wasn't the same teary-eyed girl as before. To my surprise, she had even taken a bath and looked refreshed. She smiled at me and said,

"What about our plans for the event?"

"Hmm..." I looked around, unaware that she would ask me that question.

"Have you called your mum," she asked.

"About to," I nodded, realizing that my phone wasn't with me. "Please, let me go and get my phone from my room,” I added.

"Okay, darling," she responded. There was a renewed energy in her. I quickly got up from her bed and left the room. When I reached my room, the first thing I did was to check if Justin had left the bathroom. As expected, he was gone. I took a deep breath, feeling relief wash over me. As I reached into my bag to grab my phone, my mind filled with thoughts.

Would this happen again? How can I face Daisy when she knows I have been intimate with her dad? Do I even have a valid reason for what happened?

Lost in my thoughts, I didn't notice when I bumped into Justin. He, too, seemed preoccupied with his own thoughts.

"Oh, sorry," he quickly held my hand to prevent me from falling, and we exchanged sharp, piercing looks before going our separate ways.

When I arrived back in Daisy's room and was about to sit down and at the same time dialing my mom's number, to my surprise, someone I hate so much was calling my phone. At first, I ignored the call and took a seat. I waited for the call to end before dialing my mom's number. Just as the call ended, as I was about to dial my mom's number, Leo's call came through for the second time.

"Why is he calling me? Does he want to say that I should save his career again?" I didn't realize I had said those words out loud.

"Leo? Answer the call," Daisy said, gesturing with a relaxed expression. I looked at her and asked, "Why?"

"Just answer the call," she insisted, forcing a slightly amused smile. Due to Daisy's persuasion, I picked up the call.

"Hello, Leo. I've told you never to call me again. What do you want this time?" I spoke with unhappiness in my voice.

"I'm sorry. I just wanted to let you know that Daisy invited me to celebrate her appointment, and I didn't want to come without you being aware," Leo said.

"What? Daisy told you?" I sounded so unhappy.

"He said you are the organizer..."

I ended the call immediately and looked at Daisy, who was already looking at me.

"Why are you doing this to me?" I asked, feeling frustrated.

"What did I do?" She asked, showing no signs of remorse.

"You know what Leo did to me, and every time I see or hear his voice, do you know how I feel? Why did you have to invite someone like him to the ceremony?" I paused, filled with anger, and continued, "Why?"

"Sadie, listen to me and understand my reason. Leo is someone I know, and I want everyone I have met before to be part of my happiness..."

"Including someone who hurt me?" I interrupted, placing my hand over my chest.

"This is not about you or Leo. It's about me. I'm not trying to match you two up in a relationship. You can choose to ignore him or not even shake his hand. I want all the people who have been a part of my life to be present at the ceremony. Life is short, and happiness is key."

"Daisy... you've shocked me."

"Sorry for that," she said, devoid of any emotion. Her next question was heart-wrenching.

"Are you giving up on organizing my event?" Daisy stood up, displaying a hint of annoyance.

"Daisy, it hasn't come to that."

"It has come to that. I'm not forcing you to organize my event. If you don't want to do it, let me know so that I can say what I want to say here.”

I wondered what I had done to Daisy. It was the first question that came to my mind. What does she want to say, that I am not grateful after all she has done for me?

"I know this is a difficult time for you, Daisy. Please, I understand your pain," I said, but her phone began to ring, diverting our attention and she picked up her phone.

"Hello, Mum," she greeted.

"Can you please come with me? I'm going to visit your grandparents with my boyfriend," her mum requested.

"Count me out. I'm not interested," Daisy replied with indifference.

"Please, sweetheart. You need to accept him as your soon-to-be stepfather."

"Mum?" Daisy raised her voice. "Are you settling down with him? I thought you said you were still observing the relationship?"

"Daisy, can you do me a favor?" her mum asked.

"What?”

"Please come to my house right now," her mum said.

"Hmm... but I'm busy with my... okay, I'm coming," Daisy replied, standing up and ending the call and I was a little bit surprised she couldn't mention my name.

"I need to see my mom now. She needs my attention," Daisy said.

"Okay!" I responded. When I noticed the change in Daisy's expression after the call, I suggested,

"Let me call my mum about your event. I know she'll be glad to attend." I grabbed my phone and dialed my mum's number.

"Hi Mum, how's your day?" I greeted.

"I'm doing well. When are you coming?" my mum asked.

"I have good news. My friend Daisy is organizing an event, and she's asked me to invite you and your boyfriend."

"What's it all about?" my mum inquired.

"She got appointed as one of the directors at her mum's company, and she's celebrating it," I explained.

"When is it?"

"It's in three days, on Friday. By the way, what about my dad? Have you found any information about him?"

"I wanted to surprise you with it. I've been actively working on it. According to the scan and secret investigation, I was told he's in the same city you're in now."

"What?" I exclaimed. "In this city? Please, I want to see him. Please come over for the party.”
