What has gone over Sadie?

Author's pov

“When did that lady come to my room? When?” Justin kept asking himself as he watched Sadie entering the bar and he could hear the sound of heavy music popping out of the bar.

“What has gone over Sadie? Am I dreaming? No, I'm not.” He got into his car and rested his head against the headrest.

“...all I know was that a lady came,” he paused and he tried to remember what transpired.

“Let me go home, probably my sitting room will help me remember what happened.” He thought, and started his car and drove home. Still, as he was driving home, he took his phone and called Sadie, but each time, Sadie continuously rejected his calls.

When he got home, he came out of his car and entered his house and stopped at the sitting room. Then he stared at the door.

“Yes! A lady came.” He closed his eyes and opened it. “Yes!” He nodded his head, “I opened the door and she entered. She said her name was Sonia. I remembered that. She came in,” and Justin demonstrated how she entered and she sat down  there,” he pointed at one of the chairs in the sitting room.” Justin was standing in the middle of the sitting room as he tried to remember everything that happened.

“She said we have met before. Where? She couldn't pinpoint any particular place and her face was very strange.” He paused and blinked his eyes and took a deep breath.

“I have started remembering all that happened. I shouldn't be telling this to myself. I wish Sadie was here to listen to me.”

Then he sat down and continued to demonstrate with his hands.

“What even made me offer her a glass of wine when she demanded, was when she showed me my complimentary card. This simply means we have met somewhere. I took a glass cup of wine and I gave her a glass of the same wine too. When did I flirt with her?”

Justin suddenly stood up and said, “but how come I woke up half naked in my room? When did Sadie even come to my room? Did the strange lady follow me to my room? I need answers to this question.”

He took his phone and dialed Daisy's number and said,

“Hi Daisy, where are you?”

“I am driving?” she said.

“When did you leave the house?” Justin asked.

“Dad… is anything wrong?”

“Yes. A strange woman entered my house and I don't know what happened next after I sipped from the glass of wine in my hand.”

“A stranger? I don't know what you are talking about. I know I left home and by then you were in your room and Sadie was sleeping, I think so.”

“You mean you didn't see any strange lady called…Sonia?”

“No, I have never heard that name before.”

“I hope nothing happened to you dad?”

“No, nothing happened to me,” he said.

“Okay then, see you later.”

“Bye…!” He sluggishly ended the call.

**************

Daisy and her mum were sitting down in her sitting room when Sonia knocked on the door and Daisy stood up and opened the door.

“How did it go?” Juliana asked after Sonia had sat down. The lady opened her bag and brought out her phone to show Juliana and Daisy the pictures she took. Juliana was the first to collect the phone and she continuously looked at the pictures until Daisy bent herself and joined her.

“I hope you didn't sleep with my dad?” Daisy asked.

“No. But I was surprised to see a lady in the house and I thought no one was there except Mr Justin,” Sonia said.

“You mean Sadie,” Daisy replied.

“I don't know her name, but when she came, I was almost done with what I went there for.”

“What's her reaction?”

“Hmm… she was surprised to see me, but she didn't see anything and left us in the room.”

“Are you sure she didn't say anything?” Juliana asked.

“No, the moment I told her that I was the girlfriend of Mr Justin, she left.”

“Job well done.” Juliana opened her bag and brought out some money and added, “see the balance of what we had agreed.”

With a smile, Sonia collected the money and stood up.

“I should be on my way, I will be resuming work an hour later.”

“Have you forwarded the pictures?” Juliana asked.

“Yes, I have sent all the pictures to your phone,” Sonia said and left the sitting room.

Daisy and Juliana watched her as she left and when she had walked out of the house, Daisy stood up and closed the front door. As he came back and was about to sit down, she asked her mum,

“Are you so interested in wanting a lady to pretend to sleep with my dad?”

“I am sending these pictures to my parents. They want us to reconcile, but with these pictures, they will know I am telling the truth.”

“Okay,” she shrugged and sat down. The sitting room quiet for a moment and she remembered something and said,

“If these pictures were actually for your parents, why did you want Sadie to be at home when these things were going on?”

“Thank you for remembering me. How was Sadie when you saw her?”

“She was very fine.”

“Was she upset?” Juliana asked.

“No, upset as in what? Why will she be upset?” Daisy asked.

“Are you sure?”

“Mum? Is there something you are hiding? Since your break up with Gabriel, you have been acting strange.”

“Who told you I have broken up with Gabriel.”

“Mum, since you have stopped picking up her call, what next?”

“So you mean Sadie didn't show any sign of sorrow when you got home?”

“No. Oh wait! Wait!” She stood up. “Was that why you paid this lady to pretend that she had slept with my dad? Why did you hate Sadie like this? She is not dating my dad. Mum…?” She paused again and was looking straight into her mum's eyes.

“I thought Sadie and Justin were dating. I wanted to break up their relationship.”

“Mum, how many times will I assure you that my dad and Sadie are not dating? I don't even want to imagine it. It's unrealistic.” Daisy looked at the time and said,

“I need to go. I promise Sadie that I will see her later today.”

“Why can't you go and meet her tomorrow. It's getting late.”

“I need to go. In fact, I don't even like the way you think of Sadie. I am somehow angry at you.” She took her bag and left her mother's house.

On her way in her car to meet Sadie, she decided to call Sadie on the phone that she was coming.

“Hi Sadie,” Daisy said and paused as she could hear the sound of music in the background. “Where are you?” Daisy asked.

“I'm at the club. I waited and waited, but I didn't see you again. I became bored at home.”

“I am very sorry. It was my mum. I have told you several times to trust you, but she will not agree.”

“What has your mum done to me again?” Sadie asked.

“I can't hear you clearly. Text me the address of the bar.”

“Is there any need? I am having a nice time with someone..” she laughed.

“I am coming there, please.”

“Okay, I will send you the address now.”

“Cool baby,” Daisy shouted.

Daisy immediately increased the speed of her car when she got the message and knew the bar.

“Why would my mum do something like that to my best friend?” She thought. Then as soon as she finally stopped in front of the bar she took her phone again and dialed Sadie's phone number.

“I'm outside.” She shouted because of the sound of the music in the background.

“Okay!” Sadie answered.

Daisy came out of the car and walked towards the bar and Sadie came out with a glass of wine in her hand. Sadie was standing with Daisy when a guy ran after Sadie.

“Where are you going?” He said and stopped near Daisy and Sadie.

“Who is that?” Daisy asked with a smile.

“Hmm… my random boyfriend.” She whispered into Daisy's ear and they giggled.

“Come, let's go into my car.” Daisy said and they went and entered her car.

“Are you taking me home?” Sadie asked.

“No. I will feel guilty if I don't tell you what happened in my dad's house this morning. It's a secret of me and my mum,” and she kept smiling. When Sadie heard that it was a secret, she entered the car and closed the door.

“What happened?” Sadie asked.

“Hmm… wait, are you going back to the bar or you want to go home?” And before she finished talking, she could perceive alcohol from Sadie's breath.

“You are drunk.”

“I'm not, tell me what happened.”

“No, you are drunk. I want to take you home.”

“No, I want to go back to the bar,” Sadie tried to open the door of the car.

“No, I can't allow you to go back. I know you have been desperate to have a boyfriend, but you can't find someone when you are drunk. Please, let's go home.”

“No.” She forced herself out of the car and Daisy quickly came out of the car and held her hands.

“Let me, I'm going inside, I'm with someone.”

“No, I can't. You didn't even wait to hear what I am about to tell you.”

“What do you want to tell me? My heart has been broken, let me go inside and fill it up.”

“Listen Sadie, this is not the best time to look for a man. I knew what Leo did to you. Let's go home and meet my dad. A lady drugged him today and he almost fell for her,” and she continued to smile.

When Daisy mentioned the word “drugged,” it was as if all the alcohol Sadie had drank left her eyes.

“Please  don't tell him, it's my mum's plan. Let's go home and meet him.”

“It means Justin was telling the truth,” Sadie thought and she burst out in tears.

Daisy was surprised and kept looking at Sadie.

“Is it because I am stopping you from going inside the bar, that is why you are crying?” Daisy asked.

“I want…to be… alone?” She struggled with words.

“I can't allow you to go to the bar like this. You are not with your right senses now.” Daisy held her and gently took her back to her car and closed the door. Still, there were tears coming out of Sadie's eyes.

“Why are you crying? Is it possible I prevented you from having sex tonight? You are my best friend, I can't hide anything from you and I can't allow you to be in danger. Let's go home.”

The more Daisy was driving home, the more Sadie was crying and she bent her face to the floor of the car and tears were dropping on her feet.

“How can I justify my friendship when Daisy wants the best for me? I feel tormented not telling Daisy that Justin wasn't her biological father. What can I do? I am dying in secret,” she thought and raised her face as she kept looking at Daisy.

“What do you want to tell me?” Daisy stole a glimpse of her face.
