Secret room
Sadie's pov
I woke up in a strange place, and my first thought was that I had been kidnapped. Where am I? I looked around, but nothing seemed familiar. I knew all the rooms in Justin's new house, but the way this room was set up made me think of a kidnapper's hideout. The information Justin had given me was no longer in my hands. It must have slipped away before I woke up. The first thing I tried was to open the door, but it wouldn't budge. Frustrated, I decided to hit it, not paying attention to my surroundings.
Then, I turned my head and saw the notes on the bed I had gotten up from. I rushed to pick it up, and the words on it brought me comfort. I knew I had to message Justin quickly to find out where I was before figuring out my next steps. I sent a message to Justin and sat on the bed, waiting for his reply.
"You are in my house. Please, don't knock on the door again. Daisy is here with me, and that knocking will get both of us into trouble."
After reading this message, I looked around the room once more. I remembered when Justin showed us his entire house, but I don't think he showed us this room. Is this one of the guest rooms? But each guest room had its own wardrobe. I had explored all the guest rooms and knew how they looked. At first, I thought Justin was playing a prank on me. Then, I stood at the window and looked down, and I recognized the view. Why was I here? All I could remember was being naked in Justin's room and drinking some alcoholic wine.
In a matter of seconds, I picked up my phone again and texted Justin, asking,
"Why am I here?" Then, I waited for his response.
"You almost got both of us into trouble. You undressed and laid down on my bed..." I paused my reading and almost burst into laughter, then I chuckled. That was what he meant by trouble. What trouble did I want to cause him? I turned my attention back to my phone's screen and saw a flood of messages from Justin.
"...and the worst part was that you put your phone on silent."
Silent? I didn't remember putting my phone on silent. It slipped my mind completely.
"Daisy could have seen you naked on my bed. We were both searching for you, and I'm grateful that she didn't check my room when she first came to look for you. I even sent her some messages. Check your phone.”
I quickly accessed the messages Justin sent to his daughter on my phone and read them. He was clever to have done that, and now it was up to me to continue the message he sent to Daisy.
I tried to go back and read Justin's unread messages to understand what was happening. After reading all the rushed messages he sent, I concluded that Daisy was in the house and she had refused to go back to her mom's place. And she was waiting for me.
While thinking about how to respond to Daisy, she sent a disheartened message.
"Hi Sadie, I don't like the fact that you've become secretive even with me. Someone asked you on a date at my dad's party, and you accepted without introducing him to me..."
Daisy's message showed her disappointment, and I needed to give her a reasonable response. I pa

used and thought about the best way to reply as I felt like I was in a prison.
I glanced at the time, and it was almost 7 pm. According to Justin, Daisy wouldn't leave the house until I returned. What if I texted her and she called me? How could I answer without her hearing my voice? The only way would be if she wasn't in her room, and her room was upstairs. I grabbed my phone and asked Justin,
"Please, where is Daisy right now?"
Within seconds, I received Justin's reply,
"Daisy is in the sitting room."
"Justin, will it be safe for me to make a call in this room without Daisy hearing my voice?" I texted him again.
"As long as Daisy is in the sitting room, I don't think she will notice," Justin replied immediately.
Instead of calling Daisy, I decided to text her. "Hi Daisy, I'm very sorry for not informing you. I never thought things would turn out this way. Please forgive me. I'll explain everything to you when we meet tomorrow morning, and let's meet at G-bar. Your dad might be at home in the morning, and he might want me to tell him where I went. I'm in a complicated situation, and it would be difficult to explain over the phone. Trust me, I'm safe."
After sending the message, it took more than five minutes before Daisy replied to my text.
"Okay, Sadie. What time are you going to G-bar?" Daisy asked.
"Around 9:30 am," I replied, and I waited to see if she would respond again. My wait wasn't in vain. After about three minutes, she texted me.
"Okay, see you tomorrow. Please try to be safe. Bye!"
That's how Daisy and I wrapped up our conversation, and her last message showed consideration and understanding.
I took a deep breath, stood up, and realized I was already wearing the gown I found on top of me when I woke up. Feeling hungry, the first thing I did was check the fridge. If there was nothing to eat, I needed to text Justin and ask him to bring me something. Inside the fridge, I found some expensive cookies and drinks. It was clear that this was my dinner. I grabbed some cookies and a can of drink and started eating. As I ate, I couldn't help but wonder about the purpose of this room. I hoped it wasn't a place where Justin and I would secretly have sex without anyone knowing. It seemed to be a secret room that no one else knew about. If it weren't for me being drunk and falling asleep on his bed, I wouldn't have discovered the room connected to Justin's.
After eating and continuously scanning the room, I decided to stand up as I was getting bored. I couldn't keep chatting with Daisy if I was on a date with someone else. She might presume I was lying. I decided to walk over to the shelf and playfully checked the titles of the books. Each one was related to how to overcome a failed marriage. Given the state of Justin's marriage, it wasn't surprising that he was reading these books. I concluded that this was his secret library, a place where he could reflect on his life and read books that wouldn't make him feel depressed.
As I continued to peruse the book titles and amuse myself, I noticed an envelope. On the envelope, it said, "DNA test result." At first, I had a slight curiosity to open it, but then I decided to leave it where I found it. I kept looking at the names of other books, and within a few minutes, I came across two more envelopes, both labeled "DNA test result."
Seeing these two additional envelopes, making a total of three, my curiosity peaked. The question that immediately came to mind was,
"Whose DNA test results are these?" I held the three envelopes and walked back to the bed, where I sat down. I checked the names of the laboratories and discovered that the tests were from different places. But as soon as I decided to open the first envelope, fear gripped me, and my heart started racing. I suddenly became afraid. I dropped the envelopes on the bed, stood up, and walked around the room to gather my thoughts.
After about ten minutes of standing and staring at the envelopes, I returned to the bed and picked up the first one. And when I opened it, what I saw made the results slip from my hands.
"This can't be!" I blurted out quietly, and I quickly closed my mouth. By now, I was standing, and I picked up the first test result that fell on the floor and read it again. It stated, "You are not the father of the person named below and the specimen (Daisy)."
I swiftly opened the second envelope, and it said, "Paternity Test Results: The possible father is excluded as the biological father. The test does not support a paternity relationship."
I dropped the second test result and grabbed the last one to confirm. I opened it, and it stated that Justin wasn't Daisy's biological father.
"Then who is the father?" My heart raced with uncertainty.
