chapter 109:

Ambrosia POV:

We were all tucked away inside the maze waiting for the shield to open. I didn't like the way Bartholomew was looking at Pythia but I was proud of her comebacks. Her goal was to make him mad enough that he only focuses on her so that she can get him back to the trap while the rest of us took out as many beasts as we could. Everyone had a link open so that we could hear what was happening. Jasper and Jenson somehow knew what was going to happen before it happened which made me think that they were gifted with something. Bartholomew raised his hands and Pythias' voice screamed out in all of our heads. "Now! Alley now!" I looked around to my team to see they were completely focused. "Brace yourselves and be ready. Hit any beast that comes our way, understand?" I said. They all nodded and I looked up around the wall to see the ones we chose to hide within them. Jackson was at my side and I knew his wolf would shift soon.

I could hear them running through the maze and Sage started stirring, "Chill out. You can't come out yet." I said looking forward. "I'll let you have your fun but then I will take over." Sage snapped. I mentally rolled my eyes, I didn't have time to argue with her right now.  "Show yourselves!" Pythia yelled out, it was an instant clash of people as the first round of attacks quickly went off. I could see fire being flung down and the front team went into motion. Those who were on the ground were pulling knives out and stabbing whatever part of the body they could get to first, it slowed them down just a little but now we were waiting. I locked eyes with the one that was running in the front and he snarled at me, I crouched down and ran forward pulling the siphon from my back putting it on full display and I grasped it with both hands.

I haven't had to use my siphon in a very long time and it was one of the most powerful weapons I had, it allowed me to strike at a distance, I made sure that the edges are razor sharp so that it would slice through with grace so that I could move on to the next without having to stop. I waited until the last of the first group launched their attacks before I started running forward. He was still a good distance ahead but he moved faster when he saw me start to run. "Give them hell queen." Sage growled out in my head, giving me the extra fuel I needed. When he was close enough I pulled back my siphon and with one quick movement I brought the blade down the side of his face leaving a huge gash that was now seeping with blood, I knew the others were behind me and the ones that were up high hiding will soon rein down whatever element the wanted to use.

Growls and snarls were now all around us and the beasts started breaking apart in to other areas of the maze, I turned a sharp corner and ran right into another beast. This one was the same size as the one I just went through. I twirled my siphon around in my hands making sure it was kept on display, I took a step back shifting my weight on my feet when something caught my attention, there was a small wall of fire that was now at the tip of my blade. Someone was aiding me with their element. I looked up and saw the beast was stalking towards me slowly but I wasn't in the mood to play a mind game with him. I took a step forward, hunching down to keep balance on both of my feet and when he got a little closer to me I jumped pulling my blade back and bringing it down. He jerked his head up to avoid missing my blade but I was better than that, I changed the direction and brought it down across his chest.

He flung his body back before he fell over and I used that to drag my blade across his throat. "Ambrosia look out!" Jackson roared, I jerked my head up in time to see another beast running straight at me. The look in its eyes told me it was a female and this was probably her mate. When our eyes met I smirked before jumping just out of her reach. I tucked my body in to roll before jumping back to my feet. She was quicker than I thought because before I could turn around I was thrown to the side. My siphon landed just out of my reach in front of me. I jumped to my feet just as she was running straight for me, I didn't need to be told what was happening because Sage forced her way out causing me to shift right when she got close enough. Her and Sage collided together and I could feel how enraged she was that I had just killed her mate.

We all know what happens when you lose your mate so her frenzy was much more dangerous. "Jackson, don't let them get my siphon!" I screamed out in the link. They couldn't get their hands on that. Sage used her claws to cut open her chest. One of which caught her in the face. She stumbled back and Sage used her head to push her further away from our weapon. Fire flew by my head and I saw Alley working her way towards us, she had merged with Rose and that could be an intimidating sight if I didn't know who she actually was. Alley was on a warpath setting anything and everything on fire. She gave Sage the opening she needed to latch on to the beast's throat and sink her teeth in firmly before ripping it out. Alley walked over and picked up my siphon and I forced us to shift back. "Thank you." I said. "We have gotten the upper hand and we need to keep it that way. Jackson is just around the corner, go to him." Alley and Rose said.

I don't think I will ever get used to hearing both their voices merged together like that. Alley was the softer side while Rose was more aggressive and I could see it in their eyes that Alley was barely holding Rose back from fully shifting and going on a complete rampage. I ran around the corner to see complete chaos in our section. There were about ten beasts and my Jackson was currently fighting two while the others handled the rest. I rushed forward swinging the siphon to my right hand before I raised it and brought it down across one of their backs. He turned quickly and focused on me which is what I wanted because now Jackson only had to worry about one. I took a few steps back pulling him farther away from Jackson. I didn't want him to change course and surprise attack him. I placed my left arm in front of me while holding out my blade with my right hand.

He looked from me to my blade probably trying to figure out the best way to get me separated from it. I went to step forward but retreated when I saw a fireball be hurled in our direction. It hit him on the back and he turned, which is not what I wanted. I acted quickly and ran forward jumping from the ground and on his side. I pulled my arm back and drove my blade as deep as I possibly could into his side and held on tightly when he started to fall to the side. When we landed on the ground I stood on his side, his breath was fast which told me he was weak so I took the time to pull my blade out of his side and across his throat. When I looked back up I saw Jackson had succeeded in taking him down and the others were not far off. "Ambrosia we need to go help the others." Jackson said looking at me, I looked over at him and saw he had cuts and bruises but nothing too serious.

The last beast we had trapped finally fell to the ground and we quickly gathered. "I need two of you to stay behind while the others branch off to aid everyone else. We need to end this." I said before turning around. I didn't care who stayed behind or who went off to help. All I knew was that we needed to get to the others and take down as many as we could so that all Pythia had to do was focus on taking Bartholomew down.

**Alley POV**

Our team was the last space in the back. fights had broken out everywhere which we expected to happen. "Hold tight everyone! We are the last line of defense!" I yelled out. "Here they come!" Stephen said just before he shifted, Denver stood tall and proud and was ready for anything. He widened his legs portraying himself to look a lot bigger than he was. "It's now or never Rose." I said quickly as I heard more growls getting closer. Rose didn't reply, she started pushing her way out but I couldn't give her full control, I still needed to be able to control some things. We decided that it was best to merge together like we did in the last fight. I could feel my bones snap and bend in different directions. I could feel my face morph together with hers as our snout pushed out.

It was much easier this time and when we were fully transformed we stood next to Stephen and Denver. We were going to hurt as many as we could first, none of them were going to get by us without being hurt. Three finally came into our view and Denver crouched defensively and we got into our stance. Rose pushed out a deathly growl that vibrated through us both, it slowed them down but they recovered quickly and became more mad. Denver and I collided with the first four that we saw first, I extended our claws and sunk them into their sides as they ran by, hitting their rib cages took away the air force and made them sloppy with their moves, slower even. Rose and I pushed forward with Denver staying in his position. Each step I took I was met with a beast that we slashed through until we came across a beta. He was larger than all of the others.

His eyes were trained on me and for a moment he seemed surprised, shocked even. His eyes hardened and he growled which ultimately pissed Rose and I off. We matched his growl only ours had more force in it. Rose pushed us forward, launching us at him. We met in the middle, as soon as we connected it was like a clap of loud thunder. We snarled and snapped at each other and for a brief moment he managed to slice our leg. I brought our claw down across his face, cutting his eye to damage it so that he could only see out of one. That would give me an advantage over him, it didn't seem to phase him at all at first but then he started shaking his head from side to side. "Jackson, don't let them get my siphon!" Ambrosia screamed out. Shit, I needed to go and help her. "Rose, stop playing and let's get this done." I snapped. Rose huffed but didn't argue with me. I used my fire to set the beta on fire before Denver jumped on him.

We rounded the corner with fire on our fingertips. As soon as they came into view I threw all I had at her just as Sage had rammed her head into her chest. I picked up Ambrosias siphon as she shifted and handed it to her. "Thank you." Ambrosia said. I nodded my head and walked farther around the maze. We used all the elements we could in that moment. I used roots to entrap those who were gaining an upper hand. We needed to protect as many people as we possibly could. I was so focused on controlling the elements that I didn't see another beast charging at us from behind. We were flown forward hitting the ground face first, I felt claws dig into my back. Just as the pressure set in it was removed and we rolled to our back to see Ambrosia had jumped on it's back and had used her siphon and stuck it in his upper back.

I jumped to my feet and felt the warmth of our blood sliding down. I tapped into the spirit to stop the bleeding while I also pushed it out to everyone else just in case they were hurt. I rushed to help ambrosia using roots to keep his feet on the ground while she did what we needed to do. "Tye, we are finally getting the upper hand here!" I said breathlessly through the link. The wound on my back was starting to hurt but I didn't have time to worry about it. The numbers were getting smaller and smaller as I looked around. Fire was flying everywhere, roots were being sprung up from the ground, waves of water were flooding different areas. "We need a little help over here!" Josh yelled out. I changed directions and ran towards the area that they were in. I could see Emma and Charlotte working aggressively with their areas and they were completely focused.

I ran down the narrow walkways until I saw they were a little outnumbered. I raised my arms spreading fire across the ground being careful so I wouldn't burn any of our people. It slowly crept across the ground until it started working its way up every beast's leg. The squirmed under the heat and it fueled Rose and I more to push it harder until the others could get a handle on the numbers they were up against. I was just about to turn back around when I heard a deathly growl erupt. For a brief second everyone paused and looked around before continuing to fight. "What the hell was that?" I asked. "Alley we need you out here!" Lee shouted before I heard him grunt. "Someone talk to me! What is going on!" I shouted. "There is another wave of these damn things!" Jasper yelled back. "We are being hit from the side! Pythia watch out!" Tye roared.

I turned on my heels and ran. "Everyone listen! Use your elements to the fullest! We have another wave of beasts hitting from the side. They need us!" I yelled through the link. I ran around the corner and right into Ambrosia. "Your siphon is about to get a lot of action." I huffed as I grabbed on to her and teleported us to the back of the maze. Bartholomew was still in his cage but Pythia and Tye were being cornered while the twins were still in human form using their elements. Braxton and Troy were moving quickly but it wasn't enough. Lee, Jax and Ryan were being broken apart and ganged up on. We didn't have time to waste, we needed to get our asses in motion before someone gets hurt. "Go to Pythia and Tye now!" I yelled at Ambrosia. "Jackson, Stephen and the other alphas need help." I said through the link. It wasn't long before their wolves came barreling around the corner and headed straight towards the three alphas.

I ran towards the back where they were coming in and started putting up the fire shield, if anymore crossed through it their insides would start to melt since they had ill intentions and I had really hoped that this would help.
