Chapter 28:
Pythia POV:
As we loaded the truck I couldn't help but start to feel excited. I wonder where he is taking me? He said it was a surprise but it has to be somewhere like a beach or pool or something right? I mean why else would Ambrosia grab bathing suits for me. I needed to talk to Ambrosia when we got back, she was more than tense at the mall and I needed to know what that was all about. Humans getting too close to us can be dangerous if we aren't careful. We didn't make it that far down the road before I turned to him. "So where are we going?" I asked. A smile tugged at his lips. "Now if I told you it wouldn't be a secret." Tye replied. "Oh come on, at least give me a hint. How far away is it?" I asked. "We haven't even made it that far and you are already asking." Tye laughed. I narrowed my eyes on him. Why can't he at least give me a hint. "Tell me what happened at the mall." Tye said. "There isn't much to tell, we were trying to leave and they had questions, apparently a few of their friends got off of the hiking trail and saw the battle that was going on." I replied calmly. I didn't need him getting upset.
"Did any of them touch you?" Tye asked slowly. Well so much for that. "No, we were not touched, they are just humans that have curious minds, that's all." I replied. I saw his hands tighten around the steering wheel so I reached over and grabbed one. Those tiny little sparks that I have grown to love so much were very comforting. I could feel him relax a little better. "I just hated seeing what I did. Rex nearly lost his mind." Tye replied in a whisper. "I know but we are safe, no worries. Let's just focus on you giving me a hint on where we are going." I said smiling. "Nice try my beauty but no." Tye replied. "Although I will tell you that Ambrosia and Jackson will join us tomorrow." Tye said. They are? "How come?" I asked. "Well I figured you would want to continue the book with her with you. You two have gotten very close." Tye replied. "Yes, we have. She is the sister I never had the chance to have." I replied, smiling at the thought. Since the battle she has stuck very close to me and I am hoping to find out why. I know she feels the need to, maybe because she doesn't have a sister of her own.
"I need to figure out a way to thank her for staying with you but I do want to talk to you about something." Tye said, he sounded a little nervous so he knows it must be something I won't particularly like. I turned in my seat so I could face him a little better. "I want to talk to you about having a guard with you at all times.." He said slowly. He wants me to have a guard? "Why do you want me to have a guard?" I asked. "Because I don't trust those other elders and I can't be with you all the time, I just want you to be protected." He replied. "Who would it be?" I asked. "I've talked with Brandon, he is more than happy to be with you." Tye said. I haven't met him but I heard he is strong and guarded Alley. "Okay, if it makes you feel better I won't fight you on it." I stated. There was a silence in the truck and I am pretty sure he was making sure he heard me correctly. "Wait. What? You won't fight against me?" He asked hesitantly. I couldn't hold back the laugh that bubbled up. "I won't fight you for now. I will take all the protection I can get, after birth I will not want a guard." I replied. "We will talk about that when the time comes. I am just glad that you agreed." Tye said in a huff.
"After birth the answer will be no. The baby will need someone though so maybe he can guard her unless he finds his mate by then." I retorted. "I like the idea of that. Our child will be heavily guarded while we deal with the grand council." Tye said with sternness in his voice. "I won't argue with that either, my wolf. She will need protection" I replied. She will have an army of guards and to be tucked away. I didn't like to think of what was coming but in a few short months I will have to face it. I checked my phone to see what time it was to notice I had a text from Tyes mother. "Don't worry about anything, all will be well. Can't wait till dinner Sunday." I read the words out loud smiling as I did. "So dinner with your mom?" I was amused. "Shit, I am sorry, I forgot to tell you, she wants to know what your favorite dessert is too." Tye replied. I sent a quick text back thanking her and told her I didn't really have a favorite. If I know her I know she likes to cook whatever she feels like. I rested my head against the seat and closed my eyes, everything was going to be okay. We just needed to take it a day at a time is all.
