Chapter 111:
Jenson POV:
Everything was chaotic in the blink of an eye, all their thoughts circulated around and it was like they were all split on who to go for first. Even though Bartholomew said none of them would touch Pythia the others wanted nothing more than to keep her to themselves. They were given the impression that she controlled the shield and they were impressed by that. When that shield came down and the maze and our people were revealed it was nothing but pure anger rolling off of them. They didn't like that we had all of this planned because now they had to fight more than they wanted to. Bartholomew was especially mad at the fact that Pythia wouldn't go with him so willingly, I was currently helping Tye fend off a beast that tackled him. It didn't take us long to take him down, the beast's fighting skills were sloppy which gave Rex what he needed to end his life.
Jaspers voice rang out as we were running, something was after Pythia but by the time we had gotten there it was too late and she was hit sending her backwards. Rex went into an all out frenzy while Bartholomews thoughts hit me like a truck. He was enraged that the beast didn't listen. He wanted Pythia for himself and it angered him that someone else dared try to end her life before he was able to get what he wanted. Rex was in the process of killing that beast when a sickening thought came across his mind. He figured out that Jasper was her brother but he also figured out that Tye and Rex were her mates. Thoughts flashed across his mind, he wanted to trap Pythia the way she trapped him and slowly kill both of them in front of her as a punishment. He wanted to ultimately break her down so that she would be willing to do as he wanted.
I guess Pythia didn't like the way he asked if that was her mate because the next thing I knew she was releasing fire to make him move so that the trap closed in on him even more. Bartholomew was shaking the trap like a madman trying to break out but we had made sure it would hold him for a while. Different thoughts started flooding around me. Where are those coming from? They seemed much more distorted than the ones that are here. The longer that we stayed here the less amount of thoughts I was feeling which told me that they were doing amazing inside of the maze. "Goliath, what do you feel?" I grunted out as I ran towards Jasper. I needed to keep my head down so that Bartholomew wouldn't figure out that I was a twin. "More beasts. A lot more." Goliath growled out. "How many more?!" I asked, and then a loud growl erupted from the tree line. I looked over to see Pythia and Tye were tag teaming one beast while the three alphas were fending off the last that they had.
I looked over to Jasper and we both knew shit was about to get more out of control. "Set the tree line on fire, we need to make them hesitate!" I yelled. I started running over to Jasper as more horrible thoughts hit me. They were all gunning for the alphas lunas and Pythia. They wanted to take out the alphas first to weaken the women and then jump the women. I stood next to Jasper and together we lit up the tree line hoping it would cause them to slow down and on the smaller ones it did. The larger ones ran through like it was no big deal. "We are being hit from the side! Pythia watch out!" Tye roared from the side, I had a brief second to look over to see Tye was tackled from the side. Pythia was using her fire to help him. I was pulling roots from the ground to grab onto whatever beast jumped the fire.
"Are you two okay?" Chloe asked running up to us. "For now. There are too many of them for us to handle." I replied. "Good thing you two aren't alone." Emma said as she came to a stop beside Jasper. I glanced to our side to see Jasmine, Charlotte and Diane lining up beside us but had spread out so that we could cover more ground and together we tried our best to catch whatever we could. I knew there would be some that get by us but that was what everyone else was for. I had hoped that there would be more of us than them by the time we got done. I felt a sharp pain across my chest and fell to my knees. My hands shot up to my chest but there wasn't anything there. What the hell is that?! "Jenson! Are you okay?" Jasper yelled out. "I- I don't know. My chest. Oh goddess it hurts." I grunted. it was getting harder to breathe. "It's mate." Goliath growled out.
Jasper took a step back but I held my hand up. "It's Alex. I need to find Alex. Stay here." I said breathlessly as I climbed to my feet. I looked around but I couldn't find him or his wolf. "Goliath where is he?! Guide me to him." I snapped through the link. I'll apologize for that later but right now I needed to get to Alex. I let him move my feet to the other side of where we were, Alexs wolf started coming in to view not far from Bartholomew. His thoughts started hitting me, he was looking right at me and at first he thought I was Jasper until it finally clicked with him that Jasper and I are twins. Angry thoughts flooded his head. He only thought there was one that wielded the four elements and now there are two of us. We were now considered a high threat to him and he wanted to take us out. I couldn't focus on him, my legs were pumping as fast as they could until I seen Alexs wolf came in to view. He was laying on the ground struggling to stand on his feet.
The beast by him started to circle him and when his thoughts hit me he was gloating, he had been watching Alex and he wanted to take him down personally to prove he is stronger. He wanted to see Alex suffer so he wanted to take his time. When his eyes met mine he was confused for a second until he figured it out. He had no idea that Alex had a mate or that anyone would come for him. "Jenson stay back." Alex screamed in my head. "Not a chance!" I yelled back. His wolf started getting to his feet, I knew us fighting in this battle would be a small problem. We are both too dominating to give up when the other says to. The beast looked between me and Alex and at first he couldn't decide who he wanted first until his eyes settled on Alex. His paws dug into the ground and I watched him crouch down. I wasn't close enough yet and he was about to attack him.
And as much as I willed my legs to move I knew I wasn't going to make it. Just as he jumped I raised my hands and unleashed all of my elements at once sending the beast backwards until he landed on his back. Bartholomews thoughts hit me, he was purely shocked at what had happened and now I had a bounty on my head. I was a big danger to him and he was curious if Jasper could do the same thing as I could. "Alley! Alley Alex needs help!" I yelled out just as I crashed to my knees in front of him. Alley came running around the corner and I noticed she was back in her human form. She slid to a stop beside us, "Let me see. Can you shift? I need to see how bad this is." Alley said, holding his head in her lap. "Come one Rossie can you shift?" I asked. I heard a growl from behind me and I knew that damned beast got back to his feet.
I jumped to my feet and got in my defensive stance. "When I get far enough surround yourself with fire and roots. Please don't leave him." I said not bothering to look behind me. Alley didn't even have the time to reply before I was running, fully ready to end the life of this mongrel. When I got close enough I let Goliath take control. He was angered that Alex was hurt and he was more angered at the thought of not being able to tear this beast from limb to limb. Goliath leaped into the air wrapping his teeth around the side of his neck and clamped his jaws shut, the beast stumbled backwards kicking his front feet out hoping to dig them into our chest but it was no use. Goliath knew his thoughts just as they crossed his mind and was able to block everything he tried to do. When we hit the ground we kept the beast under us until Goliath finally bit under his neck firmly and ripped it out. We looked down to make sure he was in fact dead before we turned back around and made our way back to Rossie and Alex, right now I needed to make sure that they were both okay.
**Jasper POV:**
I was trying to concentrate but it was difficult knowing that Alex was hurt and Jenson ran off to find him. I knew he could handle himself but something bad must have happened to Alex for Jenson to tumble down the way he did. I knew once you found your mate you could feel their pain if they were hit hard enough. I now had to cover both of our spots to make sure nothing got through this area, not that I mind but I needed to stay extra focused if I was going to manage it. "Is Jenson and Alex okay?" I asked through the link. I didn't care who answered as long as I got an answer. "Alex has gashes on his chest, I am working on healing him now. Jenson is fine." Alley snapped back. I knew she didn't mean to say it like that so I didn't take it personally.
I was bending fire and earth to somehow work together to take more down, it has seemed like forever since I had been standing here.
I caught a movement out of the corner of my eye in time to see a beast has lunged straight for Charlotte. She didn’t even see it coming and lucky I had enough time to throw up a root sticking it straight through his stomach. Charlotte stumbled backwards before she looked at me, “Thank you” she whispered. I just nodded my head at her before turning my attention back where it needed to be. We knew they had a large number but this seemed like a lot more than we planned for. “Bartholomew is starting to break the hinges on the trap.” Asher growled out. “Pythia Bartholomew is starting to break free.” I said through the link. “How? It’s not time yet!” Pythia yelled back breathlessly. “I don’t know but we need to tighten them somehow.” I replied.
“I’m on it. Alex and Jenson are fine now. Pythia, meet me there.” Alley rushed out. Between the two of them they could fix it before it was too late. We still needed more time to get the upper hand before he breaks free. It’s chaotic enough we don’t need him added to it. I knew Alley and Pythia were working on it based on Bartholomews thoughts. Now he has Pythia up close but he’s trying to figure out who Alley is. “Pythia, do not let him get under your skin. He is going to flirt with Alley to piss you off.” I said quickly as his plan formed in his head. A loud ground shaking growl shook around us and I knew it was Stephen.
I knew he wouldn’t like it but it needed to be said. “Be calm Denver.” Alley said gently. I wish I could hear what was being said. There was too much notice around me and I was so focused that I didn’t realize someone was sneaking up behind me until I was tackled to the ground. I looked up to see a large man in human form. He has shifted back because he thinks he is stronger this way. I stood to my feet and sized him up and smirked. “You won’t be smirking for long.” He snapped. “You’ve made a big mistake.” I muttered as we circled each other. I inched closer to him and when he was in reach I flung my fist out connecting it to his nose.
His hand shot up to his face as he stumbled backwards but he recovered quickly. I caught him off guard but hearing his thoughts gave me a large upper hand. He was looking for a weak spot but he wouldn’t find one. He tried to jump out at me but I swung my leg up connecting it to his side and I heard his ribs crack at the force. We launched ourselves at each other meeting in the middle and it was nothing short of our fists flying at each other. I could feel the cuts being made on my lip and upper cheek and I could see the instant bruises forming around his eye and nose. He swung his leg up but I caught it just in time to flip him in to the ground. I went to jump on his back but he spun kicking me straight in the gut sending me backwards. “Jasper!” Emma yelled out.
She went to take a step towards me but I was already back on my feet. “My oh my she is a beauty. Maybe I’ll save her for myself.” He rasped out. I shoved her behind me blocking his view. “You’ll never get the chance.” I growled out before tackling him to the ground. I had him pinned under me and I reined down punches with all the strength I had. I didn’t give him a chance to breathe before I grabbed the sides of his face and snapped his neck. I stood to my feet and stepped back so I could touch his body so that he had no chance of somehow coming back to life. “Are you alright?” Emma asked, looking me over. “I’m fine. Nothing I can’t heal from.” I replied before turning around to see how everyone else was doing.
It finally seemed like we were killing them off and we haven’t lost anyone yet and that was the way we needed to keep it. The women and I started pushing our elements further out, preventing any more of those things from getting in. So far no more have been able to get in and any that was pierced by the roots were quickly set on fire. “Keep pushing everyone!” Tye roared out. Bartholomew was seething in his trap. His plan didn’t work out the way he wanted it to and he started setting his sights on us and Tye. He figured out that we were the closest to her and he wanted her to suffer in the worst way possible. “Pythia when he breaks free you need to hide everyone.” I quickly said. “Why? What happened?” Pythia asked. “Bartholomew has his sights on Jenson, Tye and me. He figured out who we are. He will come after us first.” I replied. “Good plan. Let’s kill as many as we can now and when everyone is hidden y’all can finish them off.” Pythia said quickly. We had a new plan in place and I have a feeling this one is what will keep us all alive.
