Chapter 62:
Pythia POV:
Today was going to be a busy day. I had to go and speak to the elders while Alcide went and spoke to his dad. He has requested that I be there along with one of the twins and Tye in case things get out of hand and he loses his temper. Honestly I can't say that I blame him honestly. After finding out the truth and then in turn having his dad show up angry trying to fight everyone only made it worse. As I was getting ready I could hear the twins arguing over who would stay home with Apollo today, I rolled my eyes at the words they decided to use. I walked down stairs to see them facing each other in the living room. "I should get time with him today." Jasper snapped. "Why? You get him more than I do." Jenson replied. "Alright you two this is what we are going to do from now on. I am thinking of a number between one through ten, whoever guesses the number or is closest to it will get to stay with Apollo. Jason come here." I said huffing. I turned my back towards the twins to face Jason. I held up my hands for him to see and finally held up one finger. He nodded his head in understanding.
I turned back towards the boys and told them to guess. "Do we get a hint?" Jasper asked. "No, now guess we don't have all day." I replied. "Fine. Eight." Jasper stated. "Um, two.'' Jenson replied. "My number was one, Jenson gets to stay home with Apollo today." I stated. "YES!" Jenson said excitedly. "Lucky" Jasper whispered. "Alright let's go, we have the execution in a few hours." I said walking towards the door. As we walked across the field a lot of people smiled at us, I needed to remind myself to get to know everyone so that I know who is who. There were guards stationed at the front doors that lead down to the cells. When we got closer they stepped aside after they opened the doors. The cells didn't smell as bad as I thought they would, maybe they have them cleaned regularly, with each step I took I felt completely calm. I stopped briefly in front of the cell that held Alcides' father and his wife. He looked just as angry as he did yesterday, so I turned on my heels and walked forward.
We decided to keep the elders separated to be extra cautious. "Good morning.'' I said, gaining Storm's attention. She looked defeated and broke down. "What do you want?" Storm snapped. "I've come to see if the two of you would enlighten me on what made you both kill an innocent and try to hurt others." I replied easily. "We shouldn't have to keep the peace. We should be the dominant race like we once were." Storm replied. "But what did that have to do with the girl you both killed? She did no wrong and never harmed anyone. Your reasoning for doing what you did is pathetic and you will pay for what you have done with your life." I replied. I watched as her eyes widened with shock. Did she not think that this would happen? I walked down a little ways to see Damien was already waiting on me. "Do you think I am afraid to die?" Damien asked coldly. "Actually I do. I can see what you are trying to hide behind your eyes. If you must keep a brave face then so be it." I replied. One thing about me was it was always easy for me to see what other people try so hard to hide.
He shook his head as if he was running off a thought he didn't like too much. "She had to die. She knew too much and Storm is right, we should always be more dominant than the others." Damien stated. "We are stronger together and that is what the two of you fail to see. When the battle took place it took us all coming together to win to save our people. We have discovered a new line of races that will better everyone. It is a shame that you both chose to do what you did." I replied. "You think we are the only ones?" Damien asked. "I know you are not. Whoever stands against this will die, I have said that from the very beginning. This is greater than what everyone thinks. Do we all not deserve peace?" I asked. "There is no such thing as peace." Damien said weakly. I signed, I knew I wouldn't get anything out of them but I also knew what was coming. Another damn war and there was nothing I could do to stop it. Talking to them is useless in my opinion. "Queen, you are needed." A guard said, catching my attention. I didn't bother to look at anyone as I was leaving because I knew I would be back later in the day to aid in the chat that would take place with Alcide and his dad.
As I walked through the door Lillith and Stony were waiting on me. "We have everything being built but we would like to spray the ground that surrounds it with water so the fire doesn't get out of control." Stony said. "Then do it. How long until it is finished?" I asked. "Not much longer, everyone has helped so maybe ten fifteen minutes tops." Lillith replied. I nodded my head. "Good, I will have them brought up, make sure all of our coven is here." I replied. They both disappeared and I turned to Jasper and Jason. "Where is Tye?" I asked. "He is with Alcide, they are walking this way." Jason replied. I needed to find Olivia and make sure that she was okay. "Tell them I will return, I need to find Olivia. Alcide is not to speak to his dad until after the execution." I said. Jason went to speak but I held my hand up stopping him. "You are to stay here. Olivia needs comfort and a woman's support. You can't begin to understand how she is feeling right now." I said. Jason nodded his head understanding what I was trying to say. I focused all my energy on Olivia and when I opened my eyes I was staring at a lake that was hidden in the woods.
I saw Olivia sitting on a large rock, her head buried in her hands. I walked cautiously and carefully to her. I didn't want to startle her so I gently called out her name. She raised her head and it was then and there that I saw she was crying. I didn't speak a word as I sat down next to her, instead I wrapped my arms around her and held tightly to her as she cried all her sorrows away. When she calmed she raised her head so that her eyes met mine. "I am sorry you have to see me this way." Olivia whispered. "Never be sorry. You have every right to feel the way that you do. I am so sorry for what they did to you. You will have your justice that I can promise you." I replied gently. "I owe you everything, Pythia." Olivia stated. "You owe me nothing, now let's get you cleaned up." I said, patting her back. I took us back to the house and sat her on the edge of the bed. She was hurting beyond belief. I wiped her face clean before I applied concealer to hide her puffy eyes. I handed her some eye drops so that it would take the redness away. I sat behind her on the bed and quickly braided her hair back. When I looked at her it was as if nothing was wrong.
I smiled gently at her before taking her hand and taking us to the field. "Thank you." Olivia whispered. I kissed her cheek and smiled at her. "There you are. I was beginning to worry." Tye said as he and Alcide walked up to us. "Everything is ready, the elders are tied and gasoline has been poured." Lillith said. I nodded my head before walking to the front. All eyes had fallen on me, I set my face much like a stone. The elders looked down on me with hatred in their eyes. "Elder Damien, Elder Strom. For the murder of our coven member I sentence you to death. For planning to harm children I sentence you to death. For conspiring to harm others I sentence you to death. Do either of you have any last words?" I asked. They didn't speak a word. I held out my hands and gave them one last look. "Insignia!" I roared. The wood that surrounded them went up in flames. It didn't take long for it to reach them, they started to scream out in pain as the flames made their way up their bodies. I didn't feel bad for them, I had no amount of sorrow for them. They are suffering the way they made our members suffer.
When their screams quieted I knew it was because they were met with death. "Let this be a lesson for those who wish death on any member. You will die the same as they are killed." I said looking around. The fire was fully gone out and the only thing left were the charred bodies of the elders. I walked over to Alcide and Olivia before smiling softly. "We have a visitor to go and see." I said. Fear shot across Olivias face. I took her hand and squeezed it lightly. I pulled them in the direction of the cells and I could feel her nerves. "Can you ask Alley to strengthen Olivia?" I ask Tye though the link. He nodded his head before his eyes glazed over a small smile played on his lips before I heard Olivia gasp beside me. I needed to thank Alley for that after all of this is said and done. As we walked down the stairs I could start to feel the anger roll off of Alcide. We stopped in front of the cell and I felt Olivia grab ahold of my hand. I knew this would be hard for her. I gently pushed her behind us and squeezed her hand. "Do you have anything to say for yourself?" Alcide asked harshly.
His father looked up and narrowed his eyes. "To you or to her?" Dexter asked. "To us both. You lied about everything. You kept me from her. Why?" Alcide asked. "Because she is a dark witch. Why would I want you to grow up as a savage." Dexter replied. "That is a lie and you know it." Olivia said through gritted teeth. "You knew exactly what I was. Then you met her." Olivia said as she locked her eyes on his wife. "She can't have kids. I needed someone who could." Dexter said. Oh fuck. "You used me! You made me fall in love with you and it was all so you could knock me up and raise our child with her?!" Olivia screamed. Oh goddess no. I felt utterly sick. "How dare you." Alcide growled. "Who are you?" The woman asked, and I realized she was looking right at me. "I am Pythia. Queen of the dark witches. Olivia is my aunt which makes Alcide my cousin. That is the only time you will speak or I will personally rip your tongue out." I replied, narrowing my eyes. "How dare you speak to my mate like that!" Dexter spat. "Fuck you. You are the biggest piece of shit I have come across in a while. How dare you use a woman like that? Do you know what happened? She is not able to have any more children because of how you treated her. How she was treated after she gave birth. Her suffering is your fault!" Alcide roared.
Before I knew what was happening Alcide swung the cell door open and had his dad by his throat pinned against the wall. The rage was rolling off of him but I kept anyone from entering. Alcide rained punches down on his dad, the years he had looked for his mother and the pain he felt when he couldn't find her to know the full truth. Only when his father fell unconscious did I allow the boys to enter the cell to pull Alcide away. His wife was crying uncontrollably and I could care less. I looked at his dad and truthfully I couldn't tell that there was a man under the mess that was made.
