Chapter 96:

Pythia POV:

We all moved as quickly as we could and those who had seen us felt the deadly aura Stephen and Alley was starting to push out. I wasn't sure what was happening because they didn't say anything else and I could tell that they were fighting to keep the shields intact. "Natalie, Stony and Lillith to me now." I snapped through the link. It was mere seconds before the three of them showed up next to me. "What is going on?" Natalie asked. "I'm not sure but you know how we have been practicing the invisible spell?" I asked. "Yes, why?" Lillith asked. "We are going to test it out today but I need the three of you to keep it up. I will be the only one seen." I replied. "But we haven't perfected it, we might need a few others." Stony said. "That is what Jasper and Jenson are here for. They can help too but if you feel we need a few more then do so now." I replied. "Alley? Stephen? Can y'all tell us anything else?" I asked. Neither of them replied and it really started to worry me. "Delilah, is there any way you can talk to Rose or Denver?" I asked

"Let me see what I can do." Delilah replied quickly. "I have Delilah trying to talk to one of their wolves to see what is going on and why they aren't talking." I said to Tye. "I have never seen them like this before. They've had a control on everything and seeing them like this is really starting to worry me." Tye replied as we kept walking forward. Jack and Sammie stood on each side of them and I could see that they were twisting all the elements to be in front of us as an extra shield. "I was able to speak to Rose briefly but I could not get through to Denver." Delilah said. "What did Rose say? Does she know anything?" I asked. "She hasn't figured out what exactly is happening but something is being used to weaken the shield to let people in. No one has crossed yet but it is taking an incredible amount of energy for these two to keep fighting to keep it up." Delilah replied. Oh shit. This is not good at all, "Something is weakening the shield and they are using a lot of energy to keep it up." I announced.

"We need to keep them hidden and protected, they will have a cloak around us and only Pythia and I will be seen. The rest of you need to stay quiet and listen to the witches." Tye added as soon as we started to get closer to the border. "Alright I need you guys to cloak yourselves and hold it for as long as you can." I said quietly. Tye and I took a step forward while the others stayed behind us, I wasn't sure how long they would be able to hide everyone and truthfully we just needed enough time to see exactly what was going on. I heard the others start to whisper before they all disappeared. "Great job everyone!" I said proudly through the link. "Let's be quick." Tye said before shifting, I climbed on to his back and he bolted towards the edge of the shield, the scent hit my nose. It smelled worse than rotting flesh, kind of like something was burning? What was that? My eyes scanned the area until I saw smoke coming from a few different areas. "Rex, go over that way." I said. His feet padded the ground heavily as he ran forward, he came to a sudden stop and I had to grab on to him so I didn't fling forward off of him.

My nose scrunched up at the smell. Why did that smell so familiar to me? I jumped down off of Rex and walked forward, I could hear Rex whimper behind me so I turned to look at him. "What is it?" I asked. "That's poison. You need to stay back." Rex said, taking a few steps backwards. Poison? I looked at him confused, I turned back towards the smoke and it clicked me. Wolfsbane. That's why it's hurting them so bad! Oh goddess, none of us can get to it. "I need to get my dad out here, he's the only one without a wolf." I said rummaging through my pockets trying to find my phone, I finally got it and quickly looked for my dads number and listened to it ring before he finally answered. "Pythia, how ar-" My dad started to say, "Dad I need you to get to the north border now, there is wolfsbane out here and you are the only one to get it." I said quickly. Before I could add anything my dad popped up beside me. "Where is it?" My dad asked. "They put it in a smoke bomb form and we need to get it moved now, it's hurting Stephen and Alley." I said pointing to where the smoke was coming from.

My dad looked over before he ran over to it. When he reached down I realized that it was outside of the shield and I did not want him to go out by himself. "Rex, we need to take him out there." I said quickly. My big wolf didn't even hesitate because it was like he could read my mind. Together the three of us teleported outside of the shield. We kept our distance from the smoke but placed ourselves around him so that nothing could sneak up on him while he did what he needed to do. Something within me started to feel off, like I could feel eyes on me. I scanned around the woods and couldn't see anything. "Delilah.. something isn't right." I said nervously. "Just relax and let me handle this." Delilah growled out. I could feel a release of energy leave my body and I caught Rex glancing at me, I looked down and saw that I was still in my human form so I didn't shift. "Tone down on the aura over there my beauty, it's difficult to stand so closely." Rex said. "Oh tell him to hush, it will be a mere sting to him." Delilah growled out. We moved to the next one where my dad quickly plucked up all the plants that were in the ground and worked his magic to diminish the smoke and destroy the plant entirely before we moved to the last one.

I kept my eyes tightly on the tree line looking for anything to move any sign that someone or something was out there but still I couldn't see anything. When my dad was done with the last one I heard something snap in the woods and a growl rumbled through Rex. "Dad get back in the shield." I snapped. "No way. I am not leaving the two of you out here." My dad said back. "Just go! It might not be anything but you need to go back in and check on the others." I said looking over my shoulder. I could see his inner fight and I didn't have the time to argue with him over this. Finally he signed before he teleported back inside, I walked over to Rex and placed myself under his chin and pushed my back to his chest, for some oddly reason this seemed to soothe us both. "We don't need to turn our back towards the woods, back up slowly." I whispered. Rex didn't make any sudden movements and together we started backing up keeping our eyes locked on the woods.

I heard another twig snap and this time I let out my own growl. Whatever was out there was hunting us and I didn't like this at all. I saw something within the trees and I pressed myself further into Rex. Finally it became more clear and the sight before me was enough to nearly scare the pee right out of me. This thing is massive, nearly three times bigger than any alpha I've ever seen and it was almost as wide as a bus. The hair looked frail and patchy, his snout looked like a bears and his eyes looked absolutely crazed. Oh fuck.. My eyes moved down to see his feet were huge and his claws were long and sharp, when I brought my eyes back up I could see what looked like foam around his mouth and he had his lips pulled back showing his teeth. My heart was hammering in my chest and I could feel Delilah start to push out but I didn't know if that was honestly a good idea right at this moment. "Pythia! Get back in here now!" Jasper roared through the link. "No one moves! Not a single person you understand!" I screamed back I didn't know what was about to happen and I didn't know what came over me but something snapped inside me and I was filled with a rage I had never known I had.

That thing took a step forward and neither of us moved, I could feel something burn inside me and when I looked down slightly I could see that fire had made its way up my arm, I crouched slightly in a defensive position, I wasn't going to let this thing get close to my wolf even though he could protect himself. I guess that thing didn't like what I was doing and decided to growl out, the force behind it was strong as hell but I didn't waiver and neither did Rex, if anything made us more mad than we already were. With each step he took the further up the fire went and for once I didn't feel any pain behind it, I lined the front of us with fire and the closer it got to it the higher the flames shot up, "Stay away from us mongrel." I snapped, making him look at me with such hate in his eyes. He crouched down and before I could do anything Rex bit my shoulder and slung me to the side just as that thing collided with him. "NNOOO!" I screamed as I scrambled to my feet. The two of them were locked up worse than I had ever seen any wolves fight before.

''Focus Pythia! Use your fire to hit his back!" Delilah shouted at me. I listened to her but they were moving too much, they didn't stay in one spot at all. "Just focus! Trust me or I am taking over!" Delilah screamed more forcefully. I locked my eyes on him the best I could and raised my hands only to watch as it collided with that beast, it never once touched Rex. At first it didn't seem like nothing was happening until finally that beast flung himself off of Rex and started rolling around the ground. My wolf laid on the ground motionless and fear shot through me causing my mind to lose focus. The fire diminished and I started to run towards Rex when that beast got back to his feet. "Show time." Delilah growled out before I felt her force her way out and shifted just in time to collide with the beast in front of us. Delilah was a sheer force and didn't give him the chance to get the upper hand. Our claws swiped at anything they could touch and she tried to make sure that she was out of the hitting line but sidestepped too late and I felt the heat and pain now coming from our chest.

Delilah growled before she pounced again, latching on to his shoulder. I felt her teeth sink further and further until her jaw was all the way closed and she tore his shoulder completely off his body. He stumbled backwards and growled, I felt Delilah open her jaw and I assumed his shoulder fell to the ground. They met in the middle again and I felt his teeth latch on to our back leg and in return Delilah latched on to his side tearing another piece of him off for him to release the hold he had on us. Delilah stumbled backwards but remained on her feet

I was internally groaning at the pain that I knew would be there when we shifted again. The beast staggered to his senses and didn’t have time to do anything before Delilah jumped on him and aimed straight for his throat. I felt more claw marks across our belly but that didn’t stop Delilah from doing what she aimed to do. Her teeth latched around his throat and she didn’t hesitate to rip the flesh from his throat. He made a weird noise as if he was choking before his body laid lifeless on the ground. “We need to get to Rex, give me control back” I said quickly. We shifted and I immediately felt pain. I looked down to see gashes across my chest and my belly but I couldn’t dwell on myself right now. I ran back over to Rex who was now shifted back into Tye. “Hey my wolf, talk to me.” I said, patting his check. After a few hits he let out a groan, before he could open his eyes I teleported us back inside the shield where everyone was waiting for us.

“Are you out of your freaking mind!” Jenson shouted. “Why didn’t you get back in here?!” Jasper added. “I couldn’t take the chance of that thing jumping at us in that moment and be brought in here.” I replied. “Pythia, you need to get to Julie now.” Alley said squatting beside us. “No, I'm fine, I need to look over Tye first.” I said, staring down at him. I didn’t hardly saw any marks, just some scratches and bruises. “I’m fine my beauty but you need to go get looked at.” Tye said, sitting up. I took a deep breath and relaxed a little more. “Alright, fine. Let’s go then.” I said standing up. Now that I have a moment I could feel exactly how bad this was going to hurt but it fueled my rage towards them. I couldn’t believe he had the audacity to stay behind like that. “Pythia, burn his body and soul.” Delilah quickly said. I didn’t even have to turn back to know what I was doing. I felt more connected with all the elements and it was now as if all I had to do was think about it for it to happen. As we walked forward I could hear the fire burning behind us but right now all I wanted was to have Julie fix me up and we push forward with our plan to kill every last one of those beasts.
