Chapter 67:
Pythia POV:
The moment we arrived everything was chaotic. Fires were engulfing homes, people were running around trying to contain them. Children were being led to safety, what the hell happened? "Pythia! The grand elders just left. No time to explain, please help us!" Dan shouted. "Braxton, Troy. Use your speed to get water, Tye shift and let Rex kick up dirt." I commanded. They didn't waste a single second before we all ran in different directions, I still haven't learned how to bend all of the elements but the least I can do is get people to safety. The fires were secluded and I hoped and prayed that it won't take long to put out. I ran towards the group of people that were dragging others, they were struggling to get them away from the smoke. As soon as I reached them I grabbed the one they were barely hanging on to, when they realized I was there to help relief washed over their faces.
When we got them far enough away I ran back, people were grabbing those who couldn't handle running anymore, others were throwing dirt on the fire, I looked over to see Braxton and Troy running back and forth with water while Rex was kicking up massive amounts of dirt. "Has anyone seen my son?!" A woman screamed as she looked around frantically. She darted back where she came from and I was hot on her heels. "Michael! Michael where are you?!" Her screams were breaking my heart. "What does he look like?" I asked. "He uh has brown hair and is a little taller than me." She stammered. "Where was he last?" I asked. "He was inside but he came out after I did!" She yelled as she ran towards a house. I followed her through the door and helped her search for her son as she screamed his name. "He isn't here!" I yelled at her. "Does he have a friend or something that he went to look for?" I asked. "He has two friends that are down the road." She rushed.
I followed her back out of the house and down the road, both houses were on fire and I saw Rex kicking as much dirt as he could up at once. "You take that house and I will take this one." I yelled. We split off in different directions. This was a two story house and I hoped that the kid got out and was safe away from here. As soon as I kicked the door, smoke hit my face. I buried my face in my arm and looked around for something I could put over my face. I quickly grabbed a sheet or maybe it was a shirt and tore it and tied it around my face, keeping my head low I started running through the house starting with the basement. "Michael!" I screamed, no reply. I ran back up stairs and checked the rooms on the first floor before I heard coughing coming from upstairs. The heat was nearly unbearable but I would not leave this house without Michael and his friend. The roof was starting to cave in and fire was making its way down the walls. "Michael! Where are you?!" I screamed out, "Back here!" Michael choked out. My legs moved faster than my brain did.
I swung the door open to see Michael half conscious laying across an unconscious girl. "We don't have much time, we need to go now!" I yelled as I walked over to him. "I am not leaving her!" Michael yelled back. "Get up! Cover your face with something! Get something for her too." I said. I rolled her on her back and placed my ear beside her mouth, I could hear her shallow breaths which was a good sign but I needed to get her out quickly. The roof started cracking and I started to panic. Michael was crawling around the floor and snail speed and just out of my reach. I wrapped my arms under hers and started pulling her towards Michael, If I can get my hands on them both I can teleport us all outside at least and I can have Rex help me get them farther away. "Is there anyone else in this house?" I asked quickly. "Her brother is in the next room." Michael croaked out. What the hell? I shot to my feet and ran to the room next to hers. I opened the door, I saw an older boy halfway off the bed, he had burn marks down his side. I ran over to him and saw he was barely breathing. Where the hell are their parents?? I placed my hand on the side that wasn't burnt and took us outside.
Michaels mom was standing around waiting. "Oh goddess! Eli!" She shouted. "Get him out of here, I am going back to get Michael and the girl." I shouted before teleporting back inside. Michael was leaning over the girl wrapping a shirt around her face. As soon as I took my first step pieces of the roof started to crash down. Shit! I jumped forward covering their bodies with mine as the rest of the roof caved in, my back and my legs started to heat up horribly fast. My breathing was becoming short as the weight pressed down on me. My mind was spinning and I started coughing. Calm down Pythia, be calm, you can't do anything if you panic. I kept repeating the words in my head. Fuck I am burning, I looked backwards to see fire was engulfing me. I firmly grabbed on to Michael and the girl and teleported us back outside. "Pythia!" I heard my name being screamed but I was busy swatting at my legs. Water was dumped on top of me sending shivers down my spine.
I felt my body start to sway and I could see black specs blurring my vision, I felt an arm wrap around my back and I let out a horrific scream. "AAHH! Don't touch me!" I roared. Fuck this hurts. I looked up to see Troy stumble backwards. Rex ran over and stood over me growling at Troy. "No, Rex it's okay just give me a moment." I whispered as I grabbed onto his front leg. "Troy, get the kids on Rex. We need to get out of here." I said softly. I tried standing but landed right back on my ass, I looked down to see ugly burns sprawled out across my legs. Shit. Rex stepped to the side and laid down while Troy loaded the girl on his back. Eli was now awake but dazed, he could at least walk. "I'm sorry if this hurts my wolf." I whispered as I grabbed fist full of his fur as I pulled myself up to lay across his back. Rex didn't even flinch and I really hoped I didn't hurt him. Rex stood carefully before we all took off to meet up with the rest of the remaining coven.
The closer we got to everyone the more gasps I heard. "Pythia! Oh goddess you are hurt!" Dan gasped out as he ran towards us. "Don't worry about me, get her. She needs help." I replied. Rex laid back down and a few people gathered to pull the girl down and they took off with her. "Braxton come help me so he can shift." I said. The look on Braxtons face told me all that I needed to know. He stretched his arms out and I placed mine on his. He gently pulled me off of Rex and I used his wall of a body to stand the best I could while Tye shifted back. Worry was splattered all over his face. "Oh my beauty, we need to get you to the pack doctor." Tye said. "We need to get the people back with us." I replied softly. "Dan! Round everyone up and get them to our lands in ten minutes, I have pack doctors on standby but I need to get Pythia home now." Tye growled out. Dan's face paled and I felt bad. "Tye, I don't have the energy to teleport us back home." I stated weakly. "That is what your brother is here for." Jenson said. "We will stay and make sure everyone is ready to go." Troy replied.
I nodded my head just as Tye replaced Braxton. I hissed in pain at the movement. Jenson placed his hand on Tyes shoulder and before I knew it we were back home in the hospital waiting room. "Oh goddess!" I heard someone yell. "Pythia!" More black dots started to fill my vision, I could hear people talking but I couldn't understand what they were saying, before I could even process what was happening darkness consumed me.....
Tye POV:
The moment my beauty fell limp in my arms I could have gone on a complete murdering spree, Rex was howling and raging in my head and it was taking everything I had not to let him out. Julie grabbed Pythia from me and they laid her on her belly and wheeled her straight to the back. "Tye! What the fuck happened?!" Ambrosia roared as she burst through the doors. "We were at the center coven but when we arrived everything was on fire. She went into a house and saved three kids but the roof caved on her." I replied back. "Where is Braxton and Troy? They were supposed to stay by her!" Ambrosia seethed. "They were following her orders." I replied, trying to save them from what could have been a nasty beating. "Tye! How is she?" Alley asked, rushing in the doors. "I don't know, they just took her." I replied weakly. When that roof caved in I felt her pain, her panic, and her fear. It felt like someone took a knife and jabbed it straight through me.
I stared at the doors helplessly praying to the goddess that Pythia will recover soon. "I will go and see what I can do." Alley whispered as she patted my shoulder. I couldn't find it in me to reply back to her. "Do you need anything Tye?" Ambrosia asked, pulling me from my thoughts. I shook my head, all I needed was Julie to walk out and tell me Pythia was going to be fine. "Ambrosia, others are arriving." Braxton said. "Put them in the castle for now, oh and you need to thank Tye. You would not have lived to see another day had he not told me why you were not by Pythias' side." Ambrosia replied easily. As time goes on Ambrosia becomes more protective of Pythia, she can be down right scary at times and I would not want to be on her bad side. "Thanks man." Braxton said. "No problem, I wouldn't want her to rip your head off." I replied. More people who were hurt have been brought in and everything around me seemed to go in slow motion.
Rex started whining in my head as time dragged on. Julie finally surfaced through the doors and I held my breath. "Tye, what the hell happened?" Julie asked. "She went into a house that was on fire, the roof caved in on her." I replied. "Why did she go in the house?" Julie asked. "There were kids inside, she got them out. How is she?" I asked. "Your sister is healing her from the major burns but, she was burned badly on her back and on her legs. She will be sore for a few days but she will be fine." Julie replied. I blew out the breath I was holding. Alley is healing her. She will be fine. "We are going to let her rest, Alley may not be able to heal her fully but she will be much better, I will take you to her." Julie said. I walked behind her with all of my thoughts focused on my green eyed beauty. When I walked through her door I could see red marks along her legs.
She was still sleeping, Alley had her hands placed on Pythias chest, I could feel the calmness in the air and I knew it was because Alley was using spirit. When Alley was done she turned to face me, "I healed up her wounds but not all the way, you will still be able to see where she was burned but she won't be in any pain. If she is, call me, I will do what I can." Alley said gently. "Thank you Alley." I whispered. "I must go tend to the others, I will be back to check on her but she does need to rest." Alley stated as she walked to me. I nodded my head, eyes focused on Pythia. "Get some rest big brother." Alley said as she hugged me. When she walked out and closed the door I sat in the chair next to Pythia, I extended my arm so I could hold on to her hand, I rested my head against the seat and closed my eyes until darkness came to me.
