Chapter 97:

Tye POV:

While Julie was looking over Pythias injuries I stepped out to talk to the others. "How are the two of you feeling now?" I asked, looking between Stephen and Alley. "Much better honestly, I guess now we have to take that into consideration." Alley replied. "We will worry about that later for now we need to discuss what the hell that thing was." Stephen grumbled. "I believe that thing was one of the beasts we have been warned about, now we have had our first glimpse at the actual size of those things." I replied. "You all took it down faster than I thought going off the size of that thing." Jasper stated. "I'm still pissed y'all didn't come back inside." Jenson grumbled. "Pythia already explained that. If we came back in and that thing jumped at the right time that would have been worse. We did what we had to do." I replied. ''What happened to you? One minute Rex was fighting the next it was like you were lifeless." Alex asked. "That thing had a hard ass head and broke an entire side of our ribs, we healed obviously but it was a struggle for a few seconds." I replied.

Taking down one was difficult, we are going to have to take down a few hundred of them now. "I think the maze idea will still work but we might need to lift the walls of it." Alley suggested. "Should we make the areas wider?" Stephen asked. "I feel like we should, if we don't then this could turn disastrous quickly, we don't need them on top of each other literally because then it would be too close for our people on the ground." I replied. "I'll get to work on that now, I will see you all at dinner." Alley said, turning around and walking out. "She's a bit rattled." Stephen said as soon as the door closed behind her. "Why? Because of what happened?" I asked. "Yeah, usually we always have a handle on our shields but this was different, in a way it paralyzed us and all we felt was pain and the amount of energy it took for us to keep that shield intact was really draining." Stephen replied with a huff. Now that I look at him he looked flat out exhausted and as if he had aged a few years.

"Hey man, why don't you and Alley go get some rest? Jasper and Jenson can handle the maze stuff." I offered. "I don't think Alley will allow that, you know how she is." Stephen chuckled. "I may not be able to get her to rest but I know of two women who can get her to take a damn break." I muttered before I turned back and walked back in to check on how Pythia was doing. When I walked in I saw Julie was wrapping up her wounds and she looked overly tired. "I'm all done with her, she will heal before the night ends since the cuts weren't that deep. She just needs to save her energy and take it easy for a while, that's all." Julie said, looking at me. "I'll be sure to take her home, thank you Julie." I said. She waved her hand and walked out and I finally got to get a good look at my little tough beauty. "How are you feeling?" I asked, kissing her forehead. "Just a little tired is all, we still have some work to do though." Pythia said standing off to the side of the bed. "Ah yes, we do have some work to do however, you need rest and so does Alley. She needs rest really badly and she won't listen, I need you and Ambrosia to make her go rest." I said, gauging her reaction.

For a moment it looked like she was thinking it over, "Alright let's go find Alley, Ambrosia is already here." Pythia said as she put her shirt back on. "You could take a nap if you wanted, you honestly need it. It'll help you heal faster if your body is completely relaxed." I said brushing her hair back, she did look overly tired. "Yeah, that sounds good, I can check on Brent and Angie too while I'm home. See how they are adjusting to everything." Pythia said. As we walked out Ambrosia and Jackson were waiting for us in the waiting room. "So we have a stubborn sister that is being stubborn?" Ambrosia said, looking at me. "Yeah, just a little and I know the two of you can get through to her better than we can." I replied. "Now that is true, Alley has never been the one to listen to us over things like this." Jackson said. "Well you need rest as well so let's go hunt her down shall we." Ambrosia said, hooking her arm through Pythias and gently pulling her towards the door. I looked at Jackson and shrugged my shoulders, we both knew either a cat fight was going to happen or it would go smoothly. Either way this needed to happen so that they could all rest but, we also needed to let the others know just exactly how big these things were and what we need to do to prepare better for them.....

Pythia POV:

I rested my head on Ambrosias shoulder, truthfully I was way more tired that I had originally let on. Delilah assured me that it won't take her long to heal us and we had a long conversation over everything but when Tye asked that Ambrosia and I step in to make Alley rest I put our conversation on hold. I knew Alley would be incredibly tired, I may not know the full effects of what the wolfsbane does but I know that it isn't good. Rose is incredibly strong so I know she will heal quickly but if Alley didn't rest it would take a lot longer. As we walked outside I was welcomed by the warm sun that hit my skin and I took a deep breath. I looked around with each step I took and watched as people scattered around us when I realized it looked like they were all on a mission. "Where is Alley?" I asked. "She should be over there by the maze." Tye replied. "What is she doing over there? Why are so many people running around?" I asked. "We want to make the maze a big bigger to hold everyone." Jasper replied.

That actually made sense, given the size of those things I think it is important that we make the necessary changes that are needed. We walked around to the back and I saw Alley talking to a group of people that held the earth element. I could see Alley looking at us out of the corner of her eye. We stayed back and didn't approach her while she was in the middle of talking. The last thing we wanted to do was make her feel as if we were disrespecting her but the closer I looked at her the more I saw just how tired she really was. She was good at hiding it like I was but I can see through all of that. When she was done talking she turned and started heading our way with a soft smile on her face. "I'm glad to see you up on your feet, Pythia how are you feeling?" Alley asked. "I feel just about as good as you look. You need to rest, Alley." I said tilting my head to the side. "No, I have things to do so I can rest later." Alley replied. "We aren't asking you to rest. We are telling you to rest." Ambrosia said. I saw the frustration come across her face but  honestly was not in the mood for her lip today.

She took a deep breath and opened her mouth but I held my hand up. "Don't give us any attitude, I'm not really in the mood for it. You need rest just like I do." I said quickly. "I'm fine honestly. I just need to help with the maze and then I can go rest." Alley offered. "Alley, we love you but I swear I will drag you home kicking and screaming if I have to." Ambrosia said with a huff. "Plus Jasper and Jenson can take your place while you rest." I added. Alley looked like she was having a mental battle with herself. "Look, you need to sleep and you know it. Everything will be fine, you have to start putting yourself first at times for your own health." I said easily. "Alright, maybe the two of you are right. I just don't like telling people what to do and then not being there to help them, you know?" Alley replied looking upset. I walked over to her and wrapped my arms around her, "One thing you will never have to question is who you are. We all know that you are always there no matter what. No one would ever think otherwise but what you and Stephen just went through was hard." I whispered in her ear.

I felt another set of hands wrap around us and I knew that it was Ambrosia. "It's okay to take time for yourself and right now Stephen needs you too. Why don't you both go shower, eat and sleep or whatever the two of you want to do." Ambrosia said. I felt Alleys body shake under mine and I hated seeing her like this, she has always remained so strong but now is that time for her to take care of herself. When we stepped back i wiped away her tears that fell. "We will walk you back to the house and then I am going home to get rest too. Ambrosia and the others have everything under control." I said gently. "I'll take her home." Stephen said, looking down at her with mixed emotions. I knew seeing her like this would upset him since he can feel her emotions too. I watched as he picked her up and she buried her head in his neck as they walked off. A part of me felt immense sadness, but even our strongest have their weakest days and we just need to help them through it. "Alright, now it's time for you to take your ass home and rest as well. Jasper and Jenson can stay here with me and I can watch over everything. I don't want to catch you outside of that house until tomorrow." Ambrosia hugged me.

I laughed a little at how differently she talked to Alley and I. "I promise, I'll see you at dinner though right?" I asked. "I wouldn't miss it for anything. Now go. Tye take her home." Ambrosia said, looking between us. Tye walked up to me and grabbed my hand before he gently pulled me forward. "Do you want to ride on Rex?" Tye asked. "I would love that. I have a few words for him too." I said. I stood back while Tye shifted and before me was an edgy looking wolf. "You already know what I am about to say." I said walking up to face him. Rex lowered his ears and his head. "You didn't have to bite my shoulder you brat! I lied to Julie so she wouldn't kick your butt. If there is a next time just use your head please." I said as I ran my fingers through his fur. "I am sorry, I just wanted you away as quickly as possible." Rex said, licking my face. "I forgive you, just don't do that again. Next time I'll tell on you to Julie." I laughed. "I won't do it again, I don't want to face that woman. She tends to be mean." Rex grumbled. "She gives us all tough love Rex, but thank you, I would have been caught in the middle of you two. I am proud of the way you fought though." I said kissing his snout.

Rex made a weird grumble that radiated his body which made me laugh. Rex squatted down and I took my time climbing on him. I am incredibly sore and the last thing I wanted to do was rip anything back open and have to face Julie again. She already gave me one ass chewing and I wasn't aiming for a second one. I had to sit up so I wasn't putting any pressure on my front side but I always loved riding on him, he was like an oversized horse but more gentle. We walked closer to the house and everyone around had stopped to look over at us. I'm sure I looked like hell not that I minded honestly I was planning on showering and getting cleaned up anyways. The more I looked the more I could see their emotions, they had a sense of pride when they looked at us which made me feel good knowing they fully trusted us through all of this. I know people are worried about the outcome and truthfully I am too even though I fully believe we stand a really good chance. With it becoming closer and closer each day everyone was becoming more and more on edge about it.

All of these little side attacks we are starting to have is to make us lose focus and to make us panic to the point we fight each other or just abandon everything we have planned, but we have one thing they don't have and that is faith. Rex stopped just before we got to the house and let me down so that he could shift back. Hand and hand Tye and I walked in and almost immediately Beth stormed our way. "I have been worried sick! Lillith came by and brought these over for you, she said to take a shower and rub this over your wounds and do it again when you wake back up and then again when you go back to bed." Beth said.  "Beth, my dear I am fine, the cuts aren't that deep and it shouldn't take long for Delilah to heal us up." I said with a soft smile. "You all are going to give me a heart attack through this you know? I can't believe that beast was just waiting like that! The audacity." Beth grumbled. I have never seen her so worked up like this before. "Okay just take a breather, she is fine. We will all be fine through this. For now she needs to shower and use what Lillith brought over for her." Tye said gently. Beth handed him the container and took a deep breath. "Okay, go rest. I have a couple of omegas coming over later to help me with everything for dinner and I offered to let them stay and eat if that is okay." Beth said shyly.

I tilted my head and smiled at her, "Of course that is okay, anyone is welcomed here." I said looking at her. I turned on my heels after a few seconds and started making my way upstairs. "I just want to check on Angie and Brent real quick." I said as I passed our room and walked towards the end of the hall. I knocked softly on the door and opened it to see that they were both sound asleep. I closed the door and turned back around. "They are sleeping, I don't want to bother them." I said looking at Tye who had our bedroom door opened. "I need to meet back up with the others, shower and bed. I'll be back later to check on you." Tye said, kissing my cheek. He turned quickly and made his way back downstairs while I closed the door and walked into the bathroom. I turned the water on and undid the bandages and grimaced looking at them, I stepped into the shower and carefully washed around the areas and the rest of my body. When I was done I brushed through my hair and dried off and walked to the bed where I rubbed the herbs across the marks. I wrapped myself back up and rested my head on the pillow where sleep was waiting to take me.
