Chapter 38:
Pythia POV:
Just as we started to enter the woods I could hear something to the side of us and clearly Rex heard it too, he stopped and looked around and for a second nothing happened. I heard a stick snap and Rex let out a deathly growl. "It's just me!" Phil yelled out. "What are you doing lurking around the woods?" I snapped as I tried to calm my racing heart. "I was looking for you. Your letter from the grand elders has arrived. I did not open it, it is for you to read when you get home tonight." Phil replied, handing me a perfectly folded letter with my name written across it. "I will make sure I do that but we must be on our way." I said looking down at him. He bowed his head and retreated the way he came. I knew this letter would come and I have faith that my dad was telling the truth, just as we arrived at Tyes parents house he laid back down on all fours. "Pythia! My goodness let me help you down." Tyes mother said as she extended her arms out to me. I slid down easily and embraced her in a hug. Tye had shifted back and stood next to me. I didn't mention the letter because I didn't want it to damper anyones mood tonight. This was going to be a happy night by the goddess.
As we sat down around the table the smell of everything hit me at once. She had everything laid out and honestly I was shocked at how much food there was, there was no way I was going to be able to eat all of this. She had made an entire turkey with bacon wrapped green beans, mash potatoes, baked carrots, sweet potato fries, rolls and cranberry sauce. I could eat an entire can of that stuff, it is so delicious. "Now don't be shy, get what you want." Tyes mother said, smiling at me. I picked a little of everything because I wanted it all but I knew I wouldn't be able to get a large portion. "For dessert I made pecan pie, banana pudding and cherry cookies." She said smiling. Goddess be with me, she has made so much food. "Well did you two find out what the baby is?" Tyes dad asked. Tye looked at me and smiled. "It's a boy!" Tye announced happily. "Oh that is so great! I am so happy for you guys, what about a name?" His mother asked. "Apollo Wayne is what we decided on." Tye replied. "I think that is a good strong name." Tyes dad said, smiling at us. I couldn't wait to meet him, he has so much love surrounding him.
It was something I never had but I have now, he will never know what it is like to grow up the way I did. "Okay I don't want you to be upset but I did start a baby registry for you, I kept it unisex because we didn't know anything. I can delete it all if you would like." Tyes mom said a little shyly. "Oh goddess I don't mind at all! I honestly started panicking because Julie said in about two months I could go into labor and we haven't gotten anything." I replied feeling a little embarrassed. "How about I manage it for you then? We will make sure that you have everything that you need, I don't want you to worry at all." Momma replied. "That would be amazing, I will have to go before the grand elders this week, nothing serious. They are going to go over everything that will happen and the charges and such." I replied. "Do we need to go with you? I can pack us a bag and everything." Momma replied. "No momma that is okay, Ambrosia and Jackson are coming with us." I replied. "As well as Alley and the others." Tye stated. "What did the letter say?" Tye asked. "Letter? What letter?" His dad questioned. "My uncle dropped a letter from the elders off to me, I haven't read it yet, I didn't want to ruin such a wonderful dinner." I replied. "Oh nonsense what does it day?" Momma asked.
I pulled the letter out and quickly opened it. There wasn't much on it at all.
"Pythia,
"You are hereby summoned to the grand elders in three days time, you and your mate shall arrive in two days time, elder Phil will escort you both to meet with elder Adam will meet with you to show you where you shall be staying."
Well that really didn't state too much. "Not to worry dear, if you ever need us know we will be there." Tyes dad stated. "I know, I can't thank you both enough." I replied smiling. On the inside I didn't know how to feel, I did know that shit was about to get really real and fast but I know I am surrounded by the best of the best.
