Chapter 33:
Pythia POV:
"I know, I just wasn't expecting it to happen so soon you know?" I replied. "I know, but at least they will tell us more so that way we can prepare a little better." Tye replied. He has a point, at least I would know what to expect out of this so I guess that is a plus. "Maybe they will say some good news and just get it over with." I replied. That is a very nice thought to have although I know it won't happen. "Tye can I have a word with you?" Jackson asked. I looked over to Ambrosia who shrugged her shoulders. "Yeah sure." Tye replied. "Come on Pythia, the waves have calmed down a lot, let's go for a swim." Ambrosia said, taking my hand. I wonder what Jackson needs to talk to Tye about. Hopefully it isn't anything serious. "Let them have a little boy time." Ambrosia whispered. I smiled and walked forward without any hesitation, I could hear the ocean calling my name.
Tye POV:
I watched the girls walk towards the water giggling and it brought a smile to my face. "I talked with Ambrosia about what happened at the mall so I sent our best trackers to watch the woods." Jackson said with tension in his voice. "What did they find?" I asked, I'm more than curious now. "The humans have been making a secret trail that leads closer to our territories." Jackson replied. That isn't good but it isn't bad. "We have never had an issue with humans so why are we worried about this?" I asked. "Because I have been doing my own research about Ambrosias brother, his past is not a good one even though he says he has changed." Jackson stated. I knew there was something off with him. If Pythia gets a bad vibe it is for good reason. "What is his past then?" I asked. Jackson took a deep breath and pinched the bridge of his nose. "He came from overseas, he is the king to them. He told Ambrosia that he heard she found her mate and was pregnant and wanted to help but from what I have heard he is trying to wage war on humans." Jackson said bitterly.
Oh hell this is not good. I could feel Rex start to stir and that told me he didn't like what he just heard. "Why is he trying to do that? What is the point?" I asked, now that I think about it I don't know that much about vampires. "He wants power over them, enslaves them. Ambrosia confronted him about it and he swears he called everything off and is making amends with them but I have a gut feeling he tried and failed over there and came here to try." Jackson said. Well that is just great. We have pain in the ass elders and now a crazy ass vampire king that is going to try to bring war on our doorstep. "So how do we handle this?" I asked. "I have talked to Stephen and he is making contact with the human leaders. He wants us to walk more freely around the humans so that they can get used to us and trust us should something happen." Jackson stated. I ran my fingers through my hair. "So we will protect the humans should something happen?" I asked.
Jackson turned to look at me with determination in his eyes, "That is correct, they are nosy but they are peaceful. They should not and will not suffer at the hands of the supernatural. They wouldn't stand a single chance." I signed, this is not going to be good. "We will talk to everyone when we get back. No sense in making a decision without the pack's opinions, plus we have the gathering tomorrow and he will be closely watched." I replied. "Yes, he will be but I needed to tell you so that you know what is going on." Jackson said, slapping my shoulder. I heard one of the girls squeal and my head snapped towards the water. "Look what I found! It's a starfish!" Pythia screamed out. She looked stunning, her hair was wet but flowed freely in the wind. She may think she looks big but I think she looks perfect. She was laughing freely, I have never seen her more relaxed than she is now and that brought a smile to my face. I knew bringing her here would be good for her. I did not expect the visit from her dad. He seemed like a decent person but time will tell on that. I didn't need to focus too much on him right at that moment.
I walked towards the laughing women with a huge smile on my face. When my eyes met her I felt at peace. Nothing in the world will ruin this day for us. She needed to relax and I needed to see her smile and laugh. Tomorrow we will have the gathering and then we will face the elders. Nothing was going to stop me from protecting her and our child, I don't care who I would have to kill to ensure that but one way or another we were coming out of this unscathed and alive.
