Chapter 64:
WE ARE TIME JUMPING!
Pythia POV:
It's been a week since the ceremony and since we found out Alley and Ambrosia were pregnant again. Tye and I have been very careful not to have children right now since I have been summoned to start the trial. We were just getting settled with everything, we had our home built and our new pack surrounding it. Alcides pack mingles with ours everyday, all of us in the family have gotten closer than I expected. It is a nice change. Even though we still have to keep our relationships a secret. As I was getting dressed I was oddly calm. The grand elders really want me dead that much I do know. Now that the others have been made an official council and Tye has a pack the grand elders will have to get their approval for punishments since I fall under their council as well. Over the last few months I have kept those in my coven under tight surveillance, I needed to know who was for and against us but with the amount of dark witches I have it was hard to keep up.
We have built so many different covens across the states so that our lost sisters and brothers had a safe place to live. Over the last year we have been keeping track of those who want peace and who do not want peace because today is the day we announce a possible war and it will be up to the elders on what they want to do. They haven't helped settle the new dark witches we have come across and with as many covens as we are having I have been assigning my own elders to watch over them since I can not be there physically all the time to oversee what they are doing. We even started a schooling system for the young witches both dark and white to better educate themselves. I have had so much going on that I have had to recruit help. I had to call on the other elders that watch over the other areas and have them do the same. It seems like more and more dark witches are coming out of hiding and I must say it is nice to see.
I had many things running through my head but one thing that calmed me was knowing I would have to stand before the grand elders with Alleys council behind me. I didn't want to ask for help, and for a while I held out but I just think it's better for us to work together on this. Jasper was staying home with Apollo this time around while Jenson accompanied us to the main council area. "Are we ready?" I asked. "As read as I'll ever be." Jenson grumbled. "Aw little brother, you look nice being all dressed up." I said, smiling at him. He waved me off and mumbled something I couldn't hear nor understand. "Tye will meet us over there." Jason said as he walked in the door. "Alright well, let's get this show on the road shall we?" I stated. I picked up Apollo and smothered his face with kisses while he giggled. "You be good for uncle Jasper okay?" I cooed.
Apollos eye shined brighter than they normally do, not that I minded. I handed him over to Jasper before I turned to walk out of the door, as we walked across the field everyone took a moment to stop and bow. The new charges that were because of what happened with the elders. They said I should have paid closer attention to them and because I did not a member died. They still don't like the idea of keeping the peace but I was not interested in hearing whatever excuse they had for not wanting to keep it. As we walked in I realized how much they have done for this room, it is more open and very welcoming. Tye was already at the center as we walked in. The elders dressed In all black while the ladies and men dressed in all white. How symbolic. I stood next to Tye and looked at everyone carefully. "Pythia you understand the charges?" The front elder asked. "I am aware." I replied bitterly. "That is not what was asked of you." The elder snapped.
Mentally I rolled my eyes. "As I said, I am aware of them, understanding the stupidity behind it is beyond me." I replied easily. "So much disrespect.'' Another elder stated. "Do you wish to fight these charges?" My dad asked. "Yes, I would." I replied calmly. "Who do you have to represent you?" My dad asked. "She has me." Natalie spoke up from behind me. "Ah Natalie, it is lovely to see you again." Olivia said with a small smile. "Who are you?" Elder Kathrine asked. "I am one of the oldest, I've known Pythia since she was just a wee one. I know this coven very well." Natalie replied. Her Scottish accent seemed a little thicker today. "Alright, let's get this trial moving along. How do you plead?" Kathrine asked. "Not guilty of course." I replied. I heard one of them scoff which earned a growl from Tye. The front elder narrowed his eyes, clearly he didn't like that at all. "If you would please refrain from growling." He snapped. "He will if you refrain from scoffing." Alley retorted. I knew having them here would be a good idea.
We witches often forget that wolves have an incredible sense of hearing. "Why are y'all even here?" A male elder snipped. "To make sure you all are fair and don't cross any lines." Stephen growled out. The power that rolled off of the two of them was a little intimidating. "Look, Pythia is not the reason a coven member was murdered. Had y'all done the right thing and encouraged the peace among the races she would still be alive." Natalie quickly said. "Oh so it is our fault she was killed?" Kathrine asked. "If the shoe fits" Natalie fired back. "That is just unreasonable, we did nothing wrong." A male elder stated. "Actually we have." Olivia spoke up. "I beg your pardon." The front elder asked. "This should be good." Jenson said through the link. "Most of you are so stuck in your ways that you won't even hear her out. What do you all have against her?" Olivia asked calmly. "She killed her own mother!" A male shouted. "For good reason!" Tye shouted back. "Had I let her live we would all be dead and you all know it. You knew what she was doing and you knew what had to be done." I added. "You should have consulted with us first!" The male elder yelled back. "I brought attention to it and you all chose to ignore it. Not my fault." I replied.
"We dominated the other races and she wants to bow to them." A female elder stated. "Incorrect, there is a queen of the vampires and I am the great white witch. We are all equals so why not treat each other as such?" Alley replied. "This has never been done. We should regain our power." A female elder stated. "This is why we need to start a new chapter. Don't you want our coven to stop living in fear?" I asked. "We wouldn't have to live in fear if we were in control.'' the elder asked. "That is also incorrect. If you don't treat people accordingly some might rise against you." I replied. "You haven't had enough time to lead properly." Kathrine suggested. Even though her words were harsh I knew there was no meaning behind them. She has been our eyes and ears for a while and they have no thoughts of keeping me alive. They want me out of the way to lead as they wish and have gone as far as to gather witches from overseas. "Let's face it. You all have been looking for a reason to kill Pythia over the last year but you haven't found a good enough reason." Natalie said easily.
"If you are all set in your ways why don't we split? See whose group lasts longer." I stated. "Are you suggesting a division of the dark witches?" Olivia asked. "I am. You see, I have eyes and ears everywhere. You have already gathered a group of dark witches and are plotting an attack." I said calmly looking around at their expressions. "That is blasphemy!" A male elder shouted. "Is it? I call it plotting. You will not kill me here and now, you know you can't so you want to start a war instead." I replied. "We never said anything about a war." A female retorted. Her eyes widened when she realized she just admitted what I was saying. "I don't want a war to happen but it seems one shall take place. Now the real question is who among you will stand with me? Or stand against me." I said. No one moved for a moment until my dad, my aunt and Kathrine stood to their feet and walked towards me. "You three dare turn your backs against us?" The front elder seethed. "First off, you are too stuck in your ways to realize death is knocking at your front door. There is nothing wrong with unity and I pray the goddess grants you mercy. Secondly we have a secret that we have been keeping for some time now." My dad replied easily.
Oh crap is he about to spill the beans on the family details? I guess he has to if we are now at war. "What secret?" The female elder asked. "You see, this is how I know the remaining of you are stupid. If you look close enough you would be able to tell that I am Pythias father." My dad announced proudly. Shock registered across their faces before anger sat in. "And I am Pythias Aunt. We will die to protect her. We want you all to see the good in this." Olivia said, stepping forward. "Before any of you say anything please hear me out, since we have joined together everything has been amazing, we have started so many good things that benefit us. No fighting among the races, people have turned to us for help rather than hunt us down and kill us on the spot. These are all good things, why can't you all see that?" I said. I really didn't want to fight with them but I can already see that nothing I say or do will change their minds.
"We do not bow to other races, we rise above and conquer, those who stand in our way shall perish." The female elder seethed. "This is war!" The front elder raged before they all disappeared. Well that didn't go how I thought it would.
