Chapter 72:

Pythia POV:

As I was cleaning up around the house I heard a soft knock at the door, when I opened the door I was met with a very nervous Beth. "Hello Beth. How are you today?" I asked with a smile. She blew out a shaky breath before returning a smile. "I'm nervous, but I came to see if you could use some help?" Beth replied, lowering her head. "No need to lower your head here Beth, you are always welcomed." I said. Slowly she raised her head and a smile came across her face. "I apologize Miss Pythia, I am just really nervous and scared." Beth said. "Just call me Pythia. Don't be nervous or scared, this is a wonderful thing." I replied. "Well I was hoping I would be able to speak with you privately." Beth said shyly. "Of course, come and sit in the living room with me. Would you like something to drink?" I asked. "No ma'am thank you though." Beth replied quietly.

I motioned for her to sit down next to me and as she did I angled my body towards her letting her know she had my full attention. She messed with her hands in her lap and finally cleared her throat. "I um. Wanted to thank you for letting me come to dinner." Beth said. I tilted my head to the side. There was something deeper she wanted to say. "You don't need to thank me Beth but, tell me what is truly on your mind." I replied. "Is it true that Jasper and I are real mates? He said that you did a spell and I was curious." Beth finally said. "I did do a small spell, yes, and it showed your location. Now tell me, what does your wolf feel when you are with him?" I asked. A wide smile came across her face. "She purrs. A lot actually." Beth giggled. "She feels safe, serene and utterly happy. We only want him." Beth added. "Due to Jasper being half white witch he won't feel the effects fully which is why you guys don't feel the sparks or anything. Have the two of you talked about all of this?" I asked.

"We have. I just didn't want to have false hope, you know? I never thought I would be so lucky but your family is so strong and powerful and so respected and I am nothing more than a simple omega." Beth replied sadly. So this is what she is worried about. "Look at me." I said lowering my eyes to hers. I could see the fear within hers and I never in a million years wanted any family of mine to be scared of us. "Never fear me, or us. You are a part of this family and will be treated as such. You are stronger than any of us." I said. "How? My wolf is weak and I have no training." Beth whispered. "It takes a strong woman to love a man such as Jasper. Your wolf may be weak but if push came to shove she will be the strongest, you must understand that. As far as training, if you would like I could help you." I replied. Beths eyes snapped to mine as if she couldn't believe I even offered to help her.

"You shouldn't waste your time. I probably won't ever be in a fight." Beth said. "Maybe. Maybe not but don't you think you should learn how to defend yourself in case you ever find yourself in a tough spot?" I replied. "I don't want to get made fun of." Beth whispered. "Then how about we train privately until you feel comfortable? I will work something out with Alley too to excuse you. Now what else is bothering you?" I asked. "Nothing, I am just a bit nervous is all but talking about everything makes me feel a lot better." Beth replied. "Honesty is the key. I promise we are not scary people, now would you like to help me? We could get to know each other better." I said, smiling at her. Her shoulders finally relaxed a bit and a warm smile came across her face. "I would like that." Beth replied. As we stood and walked towards the kitchen Tye walked in holding Apollo. Jasper and Jenson were behind him but Jasper was looking at me.

"Thank you." Jasper said through our link. I smiled and nodded at him. I held my hand up, stopping them from walking into the kitchen. "You boys are to be outside grilling." I said. "I want to help here." Jasper replied. "No. This is girl time so find something else to do." I said, easily making Beth laugh. "I'll grab the steaks from the fridge." Tye muttered. "Jeez, you cave easily to her." Jenson said. "You will learn to never argue with your woman. Ever." Tye replied. "Smart man." Beth said, everyone looked at her and she quickly blushed and put her head down. I couldn't help the laugh that erupted from me. I raised her chin and looked at her. "Remember what I said." She nodded her head and smiled. "I am a very smart man indeed. Jasper could learn a thing or two from me." Tye said laughing. I heard Beth gasp beside me and I looked over to her and then to Apollo.

She looked unsure of what was happening but then it was as if all her worries went away. "What is that?" Beth asked. "That would be Apollos doing." I replied. Tye put Apollo on the floor to get the steaks out, as soon as the fridge door closed the boys went back outside leaving the three of us in the kitchen. I had everything laid out ready for us to start cooking when the front door opened. "Pythia?" Alley called. "We are in the kitchen!" I called back. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Beth tense slightly, when Alley walked into the kitchen she looked at both of us. "Do you ladies need any help?" Alley asked. "No you just relax, let William and Ashlee play with Apollo, I've baby proofed everything and you need to get off your feet." I replied. "You don't have to tell me twice. I am not in the mood to get yelled at by Julie." Alley replied. "I like the idea of a family dinner and all but it usually comes with some news so what is going on?" Alley asked.

I laughed lightly, "I will let Jasper tell you the news but there is something I want to ask you if you don't mind." I said while I cut up the lettuce for a salad. "You can always ask me anything." Alley replied. "I would like to privately train Beth everyday after hours of course if that is alright with you." I said. "I don't see a problem with that, we have so much extra help lately. I am glad that you want to start training Beth, you are a strong young woman." Alley said happily. "I'd like to feel as if I am." Beth replied. "You are, I will get you to believe it soon enough." I said winking at her. While we made small talk Beth relaxed a bit more. Alley got up and started to set the table since dinner would be ready soon, just as she set the last plate Ambrosia walked in looking rather upset. "Hello ladies, I hope your day is a lot better than mine." Ambrosia said. "What happened?" I asked. "One of the builders fell off the roof and has been injured." Ambrosia replied.

"Oh no, not one of the humans I hope." Alley said. "It was one of the humans, I've had to talk with police all day about it and show them the safety procedures and everything." Ambrosia grumbled. "Will the human be okay?" Beth asked. "Yes, he will be fine. As much as I agree with them I often forget how fragile they are." Ambrosia replied. "I am glad you were able to make it for dinner." I said. "Me too, even though I am late, which I apologize for, but every time we have a dinner something has happened so what is going on?" Ambrosia asked, making me and Alley laugh while Beth blushed. "She said she will let Jasper explain. I have already asked that." Alley said giggling. "Alright ladies, steaks are done" Tye announced as he walked in the door.

We all took our seats and as everyone started eating we made small talk about different things we have been doing lately. "Pythia kicked Tyes ass that's all I know." Jenson muttered. "Hey I let her win, '' Tye stated. "Yeah I heard about that, I heard she gave Rex a run for his money as well." Alley said giggling. "Rex has a soft spot for her." Jasper replied. "He has a hard spot too." Tye muttered loud enough for me to hear. I choked a little on my water making him laugh. "Pervert." I whispered. Tye didn't look at me, just gave me a crooked grin. "Alright everyone I do have something to say." Jasper said, clearing his throat. I reached under the table and rested my hand on Beths arm to try to relax her a little better. "What did you do?" Ambrosia asked. "I didn't do anything jeez, why would you think that?" Jasper asked. "Well each time there is a dinner like this some shit pops off." Jackson replied.

"It's good news this time I promise." I said smiling. "We are listening." Alley said. "Well I found my mate." Jasper said proudly. I felt Beth shift a little in her seat and she lowered her eyes. I squeezed her hand encouragingly. "That is great news! Who is she?" Ambrosia asked with a smile. "It's Beth." Jasper said with a smile as he looked at her. Beths entire face turned bright red, she knew my reaction to it but she didn't know anyone else so I understand why she is so nervous. "Really? That is so wonderful!" Alley said happily. "Congrats man." Stephen said with a smile. "Welcome to the family sweet girl." Ambrosia added. I patted Beths hands before I smiled at her. "You guys don't know how relieving it is to hear you all be so welcoming." Beth said.

It took a moment for everyone to process what she was getting at. "Just because you are an omega doesn't mean you are not welcomed in this family." Alley said. "Never think less of yourself, you are a wonderful young woman." Ambrosia said. ''You gotta be one tough little chick to deal with his dumbass." Jenson laughed. "Why don't the two of you go spend some time together." I suggested. They quickly stood from their seats but Beth paused and looked at me. I quickly held my hand up to her, "You will not clean or do any chores, go on now." I said. She smiled at me before her and Jasper walked out of the front door. "She is a great addition to the family I must admit." Ambrosia said. "Why was she so nervous?" Alley asked, looking at me. "Well, in her words we are powerful and strong. She doesn't see herself that way so I offered to train her privately." I replied.

"That is just crazy, she deals with so much stuff. We must do better at making sure everyone feels comfortable." Alley said, determined. "We will do that this weekend, that is the entire point of it." I replied. "It is nice to have good news for a chance though." Jackson said. "Well let us all enjoy the night while it is still good." I replied. The front door burst open and Jasper and Beth ran in making me regret my words. "Some of the people have been poisoned!" Beth said breathlessly. We all jumped to our feet. "I will stay with the children but you all are being summoned." Beth said. "Thank you Beth. Jasper, stay with her." I said before I ran out of the door. I knew things were going too smoothly the last few days.
