Chapter 163 Softer Than Ever Before
Damian's private jet had a direct route to Dreamvale, and he shouldn't have taken a commercial flight.
When Ashley saw him appear in the cabin out of nowhere, even in the luxurious interior of the first-class cabin, Ashley was still surprised. "I remember Mr. Hearst never took a commercial flight when traveling."
Should she repeat Damian's original words?
In the past, he would say, "I don't have time to check in, let alone have the mood to squeeze into a narrow space with a group of people who don't know if they are lowly or noble, fighting for a breath of oxygen."
Damian crossed one leg, elegantly blending into the seat, his temperament just right. He replied, "The famous investment guru George Clark never takes a private jet for work trips. Firstly, because large planes are safer. And secondly, you can meet all kinds of people and understand social dynamics."
Ashley sneered. No matter what Damian said, he had his reasons.
Ashley sneered, "But when George Clark travels with his family, he always arrange a luxurious private jet because he says he wants to give his family the best enjoyment. Mr. Hearst, bringing your fiancée on a long journey this time is not a traditional work arrangement."
Damian looked down at his phone, neat English text on the screen. After browsing, he replied with a line of letters, and when he turned to look at her, his eyes inadvertently swept over her earlobes. The red marks were gone, but it helped him recall the feeling of her skin under the corridor light that night. "She is not my family."
Ashley didn't know what had gotten into her, her tone sounded a bit jealous. "She will eventually become your family."
Everyone said that Damian and Trinity would travel to Eirondia together this time, but she didn't see her.
But with Ashley's status, she'd better not ask.
After a while, a slender figure appeared at the boarding gate. The flight attendant politely nodded and greeted, "Miss Bezos, welcome aboard. This way, please."
Following the flight attendant's voice, Ashley saw a slim white dress with a waist-cinching design, accentuating her curves, her exquisite Korean-style makeup in shades of orange, almond-shaped eyes, and eyebrows; it would be a waste not to showcase such a stunning outfit.
It’s more than twenty hours of flying. She shouldn't dressed so lavishly.
Trinity saw Damian sitting near the aisle and smiled. "I thought you might be late. I just received a call from Anthony downstairs. He's worried you haven't left yet, so he asked me to remind you."
Ashley focused on the documents. Since Trinity treated her as if she were invisible, there was no need for her to greet and assert her presence.
Damian turned his face slightly, giving her a smile that was neither cold nor overly warm. "I'll let him know."
This smile wiped away the displeasure Trinity had when she saw Ashley, and she sat down with a smile, leaning towards him. "I saw Mr. Moretti and Mr. King on the way up. Their lineup is quite large. Mr. Moretti should be handling the trial defense this time."
Damian told her that he was flying to Dreamvale on a commercial flight and that he would be discussing matters with the legal team on the way, including Ashley.
Trinity was eager to spend time alone with him. Even if the Hearst family's private jet was unavailable, she would arrange for the Emperial Avenue Group's private jet to come over. Over twenty hours of flying was enough to nurture their relationship.
She didn't expect that Damian would choose a large plane and have Ashley on board!
Trinity thought, 'Ashley's poor ability couldn't handle the transnational lawsuit for KM Road. Just show up there.'
Damian said, "Ashley."
Trinity almost lost control, turning her confusion into a sword aimed at the woman by the window. "It shouldn't be her."
Ashley held a thick file, unable to loose it, so she just held it. She turned and said, "Miss Bezos, you shouldn't be surprised. Mr. Hearst should have told you."
Trinity's fingers tightened around the American alligator skin belt from Hermès. "I think he was joking with me. I didn't expect Ashley to handle the case on your own at such a young age. You're really impressive."
Both of them had a strong sense of hostility in their eyes, speaking to each other with fake politeness. "Thank you for the compliment, Miss Bezos. Your outfit today is very beautiful."
Trinity glanced at Damian sandwiched between them, gritting her teeth in frustration. "Thank you, same to you."
Damian lowered his eyes slightly. His thick and long eyelashes covering the feeling in his eyes. In a voice only Ashley could hear, he said, "In terms of acting, you don't lose to anyone."
Ashley also whispered, "Mr. Hearst, since you enjoy watching plays so much. You can live in the Eirondia Opera House for shows."
Damian remarked, "You perform better than them."
Kinds of emotions appeared in Ashley's eyes. She hinted at something she shouldn't have. "Mr. Hearst, your fiancée is around. Please be cautious with your words."
Damian's lips curved slightly, without response.
After the check-in, the captain introduced the flight details in bilingual. Stating that the flight would arrive at Lindwell International Airport in fourteen hours and have an eight-hour layover before continuing to the largest airport in Dreamvale, Charlotte Harbor International Airport, with a total duration of 22 hours and 25 minutes.
As the plane ascended through several gradients, encountering turbulence twice, Ashley tried to steady herself, avoiding leaning towards Damian.
On the other side, Trinity made several attempts to reach across the aisle to grab Damian's hand, softly pleading, "Mr. Hearst, I'm a bit scared. Could you come over to my side?"
With three empty seats beside Trinity in the first-class cabin, Damian first reminded her with his gaze to watch her words, then said, "It's just turbulence, nothing to worry about."
Trinity felt aggrieved. Her hatred towards Ashley growing stronger.
As the plane entered cruising altitude, the flight attendant approached gently, inquiring about passengers' beverage preferences and offering blankets. While speaking, her eyes never left Damian's face. Her cheeks blushing and her voice softer than ever.
Having flown for several years and being the exclusive flight attendant for the first-class cabin, she believed she had seen all kinds of handsome and wealthy men. Still, the young man before her, with an aura of authority and star-like looks, completely changed her perspective. Compared to him, those praised male flight attendants were like weeds.
Ashley changed into the airplane-provided slippers, pulled out the tray table, and lowered her head to look at documents. Before she could speak, Damian requested, "Please bring me two cups of warm water and a dessert."
Being soon-to-be bedmates, he were considerate towards Trinity. Not only asking for water on her behalf but also thoughtfully requesting dessert. She raised her head and said, "Could you get me a cup of coffee and some fruit, please? Thank you."
The sunlight outside was too strong, and Ashley didn't pull down the shade, half of her body immersed in the shadow, her expression unreadable to others.
Suddenly, Damian raised his hand, his long arm reaching over Ashley's head. She was startled and turned abruptly. "What are you doing?"
In a moment, a warm reading light illuminated the area as Damian turned on a lamp. "If you don't want to open the window, turn on the light. Reading like this will strain your eyes."
Ashley struggled to say, "Thank you."
After she finished speaking, she continued to read the documents. A while later, the flight attendant approached with a tray full of cups and plates, saying, "Madam, here is your drinks and snacks."
"This isn't mine." Ashley said.
Damian took it for her. "I didn't expect you to have such a good appetite."
Ashley looked at the full tray. "These must be for Miss Bezos, right?"
Damian replied, "I wouldn't do such a thing."
Ashley was puzzled, 'What did he mean?'
Trinity requested a glass of water, quietly reading a book. She smiled at the flight attendant, "Could you please bring me a blanket and get one for this gentleman as well? Also, fetch a clean neck pillow for him."
The flight attendant was a bit puzzled. What exactly was the relationship between these three?
Trinity unbuckled her seatbelt and gently draped the blanket over Damian's legs. "Are you available now?"
Damian put down his phone. "What's up?"
Trinity pursed her lips. "Why don't you come sit next to me? I need to talk to you."
