Chapter 437 Completely Treating Her as a Servant
With his "help," a meal was finally ready, but Ashley thought that if Damian's hunger was that kind of hunger, he might as well be full without eating.
During the meal preparation, her ears, neck, and collarbone were all nibbled by him. If she hadn't been holding a spatula and the stove wasn't on, he might have done something even more outrageous in the kitchen.
This was just the first day, the first meal.
A month was such a long time.
"What are you thinking about?"
Across the dining table, Damian, in a good mood, spoke up.
He took a spoonful of rice, as if the grains were infused with unique ingredients, tasting better with each bite.
Ashley snapped back to reality and said nonchalantly, "I heard Trinity's face got ruined. How bad is it? Did you send someone to check?"
"Do you think she's worth my special attention?"
Damian's implication was clear: he wasn't idle enough to care about someone irrelevant.
Ashley picked up some food, ate a few bites, and raised her eyebrows slightly, "She may not be worth it, but I want to know more. After all, if we don't get the desired result after all that effort, it would be regrettable."
She didn't want Trinity to be discharged in a few days, only to come back full of energy and cause more trouble.
"Simple."
After saying that, Damian made a call, "Check on Trinity."
On the other end, Hayden almost jumped, "Oh my God! Do you actually care about her? What got into you? Still have feelings for her?"
"Cut the crap and just check."
Putting down the phone, Damian said to Ashley, "Wait a few minutes."
Damian had the call on speaker, and Ashley heard everything, especially the part about lingering feelings. Honestly, she would have felt uncomfortable in the past, but today it made her want to laugh, "Do you really have no feelings for Trinity? After all, you were tied together for so long, feelings could develop over time."
Damian frowned slightly, his lips still moist from eating, leaned forward a bit, closing the safe distance, and the sense of urgency instantly transmitted across the table, "Am I that undiscriminating? Do I want just anyone?"
Even though she knew he couldn't come over, Ashley still leaned back in embarrassment, "That Jessica, overall, looks much better than Trinity."
Damian said playfully, "You think so?"
Ashley felt a bitter taste in her heart but forced a smile, "Yeah, she's pretty good. Her profession is decent too. To be a doctor, she must have been a good student, with looks, education, and ability. Even someone as picky as Mr. Hearst can appreciate her, so she must have many qualities I don't know about."
Damian took a sip of soup and said slowly, "Running into her last night was a coincidence."
Last night, he wanted to go to Ashley's place but saw her car on the way. He followed her to a bar and saw her meeting Sean. At that moment, he was so furious he almost smashed his car.
Coincidentally, Jessica knocked on his car door.
So everything fell into place.
Ashley shrugged indifferently and laughed, "Are you explaining to me?"
There are no such coincidences; if you're making an excuse, at least make it reasonable.
"You don't believe me?"
"Whether I believe it or not doesn't seem that important."
The phone rang, and Damian still had it on speaker. Hayden's excited and mocking voice came through, "Trinity is so unlucky, she's really messed up this time. Multiple facial injuries, a broken nose, glass cuts on her chest and arms, and blunt force trauma to her ribs. It'll take at least six months to recover. The surgeon just said she'll be transferred to Avalonia in a week for facial reconstruction. Even with advanced plastic surgery, it's unlikely she'll look the same as before."
Damian showed no emotion, "Good."
"Did you do this? Treating a woman like this isn't your style." Hayden teased.
Damian said, "You can think of it as my doing."
"Got it!"
Hayden's voice disappeared, and Damian asked Ashley, who was pretending to eat, "Did you hear everything?"
Ashley swallowed her food, "Why did you admit it was you? Letting Hayden mock you."
"Does it make a difference?"
Ashley was momentarily speechless.
For some reason, his tone seemed to suggest they were on the same team.
After the meal, Ashley conscientiously cleaned up the dishes and put everything in the dishwasher.
There were so many interruptions during the meal that she almost forgot the taste of the food. Thinking back, it seemed pretty good.
When she came out of the kitchen, she saw Damian sitting on the living room sofa, looking at his iPad, probably work emails. He held the tablet with his left hand, his fingers spread like an expensive stand, while his long right index finger slid across the screen, his gaze deep and focused. In the constant temperature of the air conditioning, the sunlight illuminated his profile, highlighting his tall nose and thin, shapely lips, making him look sexy and charming.
A faint halo surrounded him, exuding a particularly touching glow.
For some reason, Ashley suddenly thought that those lips were perfect for kissing.
Startled by her own thoughts, she quickly looked away and opened the fridge to get some fruit.
After arranging the fruit platter, she brought it out. The person outside was signing his name with an electronic pen, his writing posture elegant and composed, unbelievably good-looking.
Ashley put down the fruit, turning the handle of the metal fork towards him.
Damian glanced up, then opened his mouth.
Ashley was momentarily stunned, then understood what he meant, and forked a piece of mango to feed him.
Damian enjoyed it, and his efficiency in reading documents increased significantly.
For the next few minutes, he occasionally opened his mouth, waiting for her to feed him.
Ashley didn't disturb his work; it was a simple task anyway.
After finishing the emails, Damian put down the tablet and moved closer to her, wrapping his arm around her shoulder and pulling her into his embrace, "I have a video conference in an hour."
Being held like this made Ashley's blood rush, and her heartbeat quickened, "Then you can take a nap, you'll be more energetic for work."
Damian's nose brushed against hers, "I think so too, so, you accompany me."
His nose was cool, but touching hers felt like it was on fire. Ashley stuffed a throw pillow into his arms, "I still have things to pack, not now."
Damian's large hand held the back of her head, not letting her move, "It's just one suitcase, I'll help you pack later."
Ashley pressed her palm against his chest, "Mr. Hearst, in an hour, you can't do much, and it will delay your work."
She bent her waist and slipped out of his embrace like an eel, "Don't disturb your rest, good afternoon!"
Damian watched her leave, rubbing his temples with a bitter smile.
Ashley still stayed in the downstairs guest room, simply arranging her personal items, and an hour passed quickly.
Her phone buzzed with a message: [Brew a cup of coffee and bring it up.]
He completely treated her like a servant!
Ashley carried a steaming cup of freshly brewed coffee to the study door and heard his voice.
A very pleasant French, with an authentic accent. Closing her eyes and savoring it, it felt like being under the Eiffel Tower, with the wind blowing by the banks of the Seine, the air filled with the elegance of Chanel.
Ashley lightly slapped her own face, feeling pathetic for being mesmerized by him!
She quietly pushed open the slightly ajar door, intending to put down the coffee and leave.
But just as she was about to turn around, a large hand wrapped around her waist!
