Chapter 383 Acquired Bad Habits
Here, Jessa sat in the nanny van, kicking and punching in anger, "I must find that person and tear her face apart!"
Jessa's agent, Liliana, rushed over after her meeting. Seeing Jessa's state, she became even more anxious. For an actress, if her face is ruined, her life is basically over. "What should we do? We need to get to the hospital quickly. You should have been more careful about who gave you the drink."
There was a hint of reproach in her tone.
Jessa didn't dare to lose her temper with Liliana, as that person sent her. Tearfully, she asked, "Where's Benjamin? Where is he?"
Liliana looked at her swollen, deformed face and sighed, "You'd better not let him see you like this."
"Why? Will he feel sorry for me? He should! If he feels sorry for me, he'll buy me bags, jewelry, and take me out to relax."
Liliana frowned, sneering internally, "Benjamin is only interested in your face. Do you think he'll still be interested if you look like this?"
Jessa cried, the tears making her face hurt even more. "It must be her! It must be them!"
"Who?"
"Amelia! I was teaching her how to act, and she retaliated against me!"
Liliana thought about Amelia's beautiful face and her behavior on set. It didn't seem likely, but in the entertainment industry, with all its hidden battles, no one is purely innocent. "Do you have any evidence?"
Jessa, thinking about not being able to see Benjamin and possibly being rejected because of her disfigurement, felt even worse and directed her anger more towards Amelia. "One of her friends came to the set today, and he didn't look like a good person!"
Liliana said, "I'll keep an eye on it. For now, don't worry about it and focus on healing your face."
After taking Jessa to a private hospital, Liliana called Benjamin. "Mr. Johnson, about what happened on set today..."
Benjamin's voice was stern on the other end, "I told Garry, if this isn't resolved, the show won't go on."
"You know? That's good... Jessa's face is badly injured, it's all swollen, almost to the point of disfigurement."
She said this to give Benjamin a reference and to see if he was still willing to put effort into a woman. Jessa's future depended entirely on Benjamin's mood.
Benjamin laughed, "Say what you will, but she's obedient."
Liliana understood. The entertainment industry isn't short of beauties, but obedient, simple-minded ones who are easy to control are rare.
And Jessa was one of those successfully brainwashed by Benjamin, obedient like a poodle, never doing something as foolish as forcing the original wife to divorce.
Rich people keep pets for fun, after all. No one wants their home to be truly chaotic.
In important public appearances, it's still the one on the marriage certificate who stands by their side.
On set.
Amelia finished her scenes for the day, and before she knew it, it was sunset.
She changed out of her heavy costume and headgear, humming a little tune in a good mood.
Ashley rubbed her neck and stretched her legs, giving Amelia a thumbs up in admiration. "You guys have such a heavy workload. Just the outfit alone could crush someone."
Amelia ran her fingers through her hair, looking pitiful. "Do I look bald? The headgear is full of metal accessories, it's so heavy. I hang it on my hair, and my scalp feels like it's being torn off."
"This part of your hair isn't in great shape. When we get back, I'll personally give you a hair treatment, it'll be even better than a salon."
"Great!"
As they walked out, Ashley looked at the increasingly eerie sunset in the west, her expression momentarily dazed.
Has Damian been discharged? Did he really get a concussion?
Should she call and ask?
But what would she say?
After a moment of hesitation, Ashley put down her phone and linked arms with Amelia. "This time you drive, want to give it a try?"
"Sure! Let's take a spin."
Amelia got in the car, started it, and drove off.
Not far behind them, Damian said, "Follow them."
The driver was sitting stiffly, wanting to ask Damian when they would leave countless times, but Damian was like a statue, sitting there for most of the day without even needing to eat.
The driver had heard rumors about Damian before but didn't believe them. Today, he witnessed it firsthand and was convinced.
The two cars were about 15 feet apart in the after-work traffic. After a while, the driver saw the passenger window of the vehicle in front roll down, and a slender arm reached out.
Was that a cigarette in her hand?
Damian also saw the cigarette in Ashley's hand.
In his memory, Ashley only drank a little but never smoked. When did she pick up this bad habit?
At that moment, Damian's phone rang.
"I'm at Limehof, where are you?"
Damian snorted, "Here to watch a show? You're late."
Christian laughed, "As long as the actors are still here, the show can go on anytime. Where are you staying? I'll come find you."
Damian said, "On the road."
"Fuck, I came all this way, and you're brushing me off? I brought good news."
Damian said, "Spill."
"Do you know who's behind Jessa?"
"Don't want to know."
"Benjamin, the same Benjamin who used to hang out with Alexander, who's now in prison. Benjamin got off scot-free thanks to his wife's powerful connections. He used to declare his love every day publicly."
Christian had no impression of Jessa. After looking into it, he found out that Benjamin was her backer and almost slapped himself. Damn, he didn't want to be friends with someone like that.
He couldn't even trick Damian.
Damian let out a long "Is that so."
"So where are you?"
Damian said, "Not sure, head towards Fisherman's Wharf."
Christian complained, "Since when are you so unreliable? This isn't like you."
But Damian had already hung up.
Christian straightened his clothes and walked down the ladder, feeling quite pleased. He had someone call Benjamin, telling him that his woman had some trouble on set and to deal with it.
What did Benjamin say at the time?
"Mr. Young, we're on the same side, please take care of it."
Take care of it? No way.
Christian drove off at high speed.
Amelia parked the car at Fisherman's Wharf and jumped out. "Ashley, do you want to swim? I've been wanting to jump in for a while."
Ashley had a lot on her mind too. A dip in the water may help. "Then what are we waiting for? Let's go!"
"We don't have swimsuits though."
Ashley looked around and saw no one. It was getting dark, so no one could see who was who. She boldly said, "Just take off our outer clothes."
"Exactly what I was thinking."
The two moved in unison, and soon they were standing in the shallow water, their slender arms and long legs illuminated by the pale moonlight.
Like fish, they slipped into the water.
When Damian stopped the car, he saw them undressing in the water.
The distance wasn't far, and the dimming light didn't affect his vision.
He clearly saw Ashley's back facing the beach, the curve of her shoulder blades.
"Close your eyes!"
The driver, squinting to see the two figures in the water, was about to roll down the window for a better look when he was suddenly startled and covered his head.
"I... I closed them."
Damian opened the car door, slammed it shut, and coldly said, "Keep them closed," before leaving.
