Chapter 379 Mastering the Art of a Coquettish Expression

As Ashley expected, Damian hadn't even finished one examination when the dean personally came over to accompany him throughout, being extremely attentive and deferential.

Seeing that the time she had agreed upon with Amelia was approaching, Ashley couldn't wait for Damian, who was still undergoing tests inside, and took the elevator downstairs.

More than half an hour later, Ashley finally arrived at the house Amelia had rented in the film city.

It was a spacious two-bedroom apartment, likely used for private meetings. The place was clean and tidy, with brand-new furniture and a pleasant view of the unique blue sky of Coastal City outside the window.

After putting down the spare key she got from the property management, Ashley walked into the kitchen and found that the fridge only had green vegetables, a few low-sugar fruits, and some semi-prepared meal replacements. There was no high-carb food at all.

Not to mention flour.

The only thing she knew how to make, pancakes, was out of the question.

"Ashley!"

Amelia excitedly shouted as she saw the women's casual shoes at the entrance.

Ashley came out of the kitchen holding a salad bowl and almost burst into tears with joy when she saw the slimmer, heavily made-up Amelia. "Amelia, I finally get to see you."

Amelia gave her a bear hug and held on for a long time, reluctant to let go. "Ashley, you're so sweet, coming all the way to see me despite being so busy."

"Wait, wait, wait, I have something in my hands."

Amelia pouted and whined, "I don't care, I just want a hug!"

Ashley surrendered and said after the hug, "Go take off your makeup, and I'll make you something to eat."

Amelia put down her bag, changed into slippers, tied her hair up, and dashed to the bathroom like a whirlwind. "No need! Let's go out for seafood. We're by the sea, so we have to eat seafood! Plus, seafood doesn't make you gain weight."

After removing her makeup, doing basic skincare, and putting on a mask, sunglasses, and a baseball cap, Amelia was ready. "Let's go!"

Ashley blinked in surprise. "When did you get so fast? It used to take you at least an hour to get out of the bedroom."

Dressed in a loose T-shirt and shorts, showing off her slender legs and wearing white sneakers, Amelia looked nothing like a celebrity and more like a college student. "Our assistant director used to be in the military. Anyway, let's not talk about that. Show me your new car."

Seeing Ashley's new car downstairs, Amelia felt a bit distressed. "This is it?"

"What's wrong? Don't like it?"

"No, no, no, I just think it doesn't suit you."

But once inside the car, Amelia quickly noticed something different. "Oh my God, the seat comfort is amazing, and the shock absorption is fantastic. Was that acceleration real?"

"Yeah, it's just okay."

Amelia clasped her hands in admiration. "Ashley, I'm impressed! What big case did you take recently to splurge on a car like this?"

Ashley gestured with her hand. "This much, interest-free loan."

Amelia was so envious she almost choked. "I want one too!"

At the seafood restaurant, Amelia excitedly introduced, "Don't be fooled by the small storefront; the value for money is incredible. Last time I came alone, I had a huge bowl for just a hundred dollars. It was amazing."

After discussing the meal options with the owner, the two sat by the window to wait.

Amelia asked, "How did you handle that last issue?"

Ashley, resting her chin on her hand, replied to a few messages. "Damian quietly compensated them. Their future is secured."

"He must have felt guilty."

"Who knows," Ashley said indifferently, not wanting to discuss him further. "What about you? Did Jessa bully you again today?"

"No scenes with her today, thank goodness. But tomorrow, I have a punishment scene."

Ashley said, "No way, you can't keep letting her bully you. I'll go to the set and keep an eye on things."

When the seafood arrived, the two of them started peeling shrimp shells with their hands, not caring about their image.

As Damian passed by on the street, he happened to see the people inside the restaurant through the window and said, "Stop."

Sven, who had been assigned as his driver, was so cautious that he almost panicked at the sudden command and slammed on the brakes, causing them to lurch forward.

The driver turned pale with fear. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry..."

Damian didn't respond, his eyes fixed on the small restaurant by the roadside, looking focused.

The driver, confused, looked over and saw two beautiful women inside.

Long hair, slender figures, delicate features, and they were eating a large, affordable seafood meal with gusto.

Did Damian like this style?

Since Damian didn't say to drive, the driver didn't dare to move. They just sat there quietly.

Until the people inside finished eating and happily walked out of the restaurant, arm in arm, heading towards the pedestrian street in the sea breeze and sunset.

Damian closed his eyes and said, "Go."

Halfway through, Damian said again, "Turn around."

The driver was puzzled but didn't dare to ask, so he obediently complied.

Soon, Damian saw Ashley's car parked by the roadside. "Here, get out."

The driver thought Damian was getting out and hurried to open the door, but Damian said, "Leave."

Without a word, the driver quickly left.

He had thought accompanying Damian for these two days would be life-threatening, but to be off duty after just a few hours was incredibly lucky!

About three hours later, Ashley and Amelia returned, a bit tired, carrying shopping bags mostly filled with food and some inexpensive souvenirs.

As Ashley started the car, Damian quietly followed behind.

After entering the community and confirming the building and floor where Ashley and Amelia lived, Damian turned around and left.

Immediately after, he made a phone call. "I need you to do something for me."

The driver, still thrilled about narrowly escaping a disaster, tensed up at the sudden task. "Yes, sir, what do you need?"

The next day.

Amelia got up early to go to the set. She needed a lot of time to do her makeup and change clothes, so she didn't wake Ashley, wanting her to sleep a bit longer.

When Ashley woke up, Amelia was already gone.

There was a sticky note on the fridge: [Ordered takeout for you. Eat well! I'm off to work!]

Holding the warm porridge, Ashley felt a surge of warmth in her heart.

At that moment, she suddenly thought, if Amelia didn't plan to get married, she could stay single forever and grow old with her.

After getting herself ready, Ashley drove to the set, determined to see just how arrogant Jessa was!

Amelia, dressed in a loose costume, stood under the shade of a tree, memorizing her lines. She barely moved, but her clothes were already soaked with sweat.

"Amelia! Come over for blocking!"

Amelia quickly put down her script and dragged her long costume over. "Director, what do you need?"

In the show, Amelia played a villain who, seeking revenge, used her beauty to seduce the king, harm others, and was ruthless and manipulative.

But the character was a seductive fox spirit, alluring and full of wicked charm.

With her makeup done, her eyes extended and upturned, she looked like a bewitching fox spirit. A single deep gaze could melt anyone's bones.

The director paused for a moment, cleared his throat, and said, "In this scene, it's mainly about punishment and inner conflict. The heroine discovers you secretly drugging a pregnant royal member and interrogates you, but you refuse to admit it. Then the king appears, and you plead for help. You need to nail the pleading expression."

Amelia had rehearsed this scene several times and knew how to act it. "Got it, director, I understand."

The actress playing the heroine, Jessa, walked over in a grand outfit, looking regal. She was followed by four assistants—one holding an umbrella, one carrying a chair, one with a hot water cup, and one clearing the way. Her entourage was even bigger than the director's.

Seeing her, the director cheerfully said, "Jessa, let me explain this scene to you..."

Jessa impatiently glanced over. "I know, director. Let's start and not waste everyone's time."

"Alright! Jessa, you're always so considerate."

The director returned to his position behind the camera. "Lights, camera, sound... everyone ready, action!"
