Chapter 544 I like you, clearly and plainly like you.

Sean put down the file and said coldly, "Who else have you told these things to?"

Lynn couldn't see Sean's expression, but his indifferent tone sent chills down her spine!

So, Sean was angry with Ashley? Finally realized she wasn't a good person?

Lynn said softly, "I haven't told anyone else. After all, we're colleagues, and I don't like gossiping behind people's backs. I couldn't help but tell you because I didn't want you to be deceived by her, Mr. Ross. I sincerely hope you won't be used by her, just like Hendrix before. After he broke his legs, Ashley just walked away without any regard for their relationship. Hendrix helped her so much, she should have at least visited him."

Lynn spoke like a moral guardian, crusading against Ashley on behalf of the world.

Sean's face grew darker. He put down the file and sternly warned, "These words end here today. Do not spread them to a third person."

During her time as his assistant, Lynn had been diligent, attentive, and never sought credit. She was also generous and considerate to her colleagues, which Sean had no complaints about.

But her slander against Ashley had almost wiped out two years of goodwill.

He hadn't expected her to harbor such a despicable heart.

Lynn quickly smiled and said, "How could I? I only told you these heartfelt words."

Sean interrupted her, "Pull over to the side."

Lynn, not understanding, stopped the car.

Then she heard Sean's serious tone, "Thomas, when you interviewed, I asked why you left Sky Balance Law Firm to come to Justice Peak Law Firm. You said you wanted to learn from me, to have better development, and to excel in divorce cases. But during your time at Justice Peak Law Firm, you never actively sought cases, only handling my miscellaneous tasks day after day, with no progress in your career. Now I ask you again, what is your true purpose for coming to Justice Peak Law Firm?"

Lynn finally understood why Sean had her stop the car. If they were on the road, she might have lost control and caused an accident.

The blunt question hit her heart, leaving her flustered and embarrassed.

"I..." Lynn took a deep breath, looked at the desolate winter street, then turned back, her burning eyes fixed on Sean, "After all this time, can't you see?"

Sean rarely had a stern face, but at this moment, he showed no more expression, "Your target is me?"

A questioning tone, a certain guess.

Lynn no longer hid it, nodding pitifully yet firmly, "I thought after all I've done, you would have noticed my feelings for you. The whole firm knows about my feelings for you, only you choose to ignore them. I haven't made much progress in my career, but I have no regrets. Being the woman behind you, solving all your life and work troubles, letting you move forward with peace of mind, is my greatest joy and satisfaction. It may seem unambitious, but I have no regrets. Mr. Ross, I like you, clearly and plainly."

Sean had noticed, but his attitude had always been clear: no acceptance, no favor, and no ambiguity.

Lysander had asked him why, knowing Lynn's feelings, he didn't let her resign.

He said everyone has the right to like someone, and as long as they don't cross the line, they deserve respect. He couldn't blame her feelings on her job and make her lose it.

Besides, he had frequently visited Sylvania to see Ashley during those two years, barely noticing Lynn. She handled his logistics, and he gave her a considerable salary in the industry, which was a natural balance.

But today, Lynn's words had hurt him, making Sean reconsider whether Lynn was still suitable to stay at Justice Peak Law Firm.

"Thomas, liking someone is not a crime, and doing things for the person you like is not a crime. But fabricating slander to achieve a certain goal is a crime. You saw my attitude towards Ashley and developed a resistance and framing mentality, trying to make me completely disappointed in her through slander. Do you know that this approach ultimately harms yourself?"

Sean used "innocent" and "guilty" to judge this matter. In his heart, the bad words against Ashley had reached the level of a crime?

Lynn didn't dare to look Sean in the eye. She suddenly felt uncertain. For two years, she had always thought Sean was warm and tolerant, but today's conversation was so cold and harsh.

"Mr. Ross, do you trust her that much? Don't you trust me at all?" Lynn's eyes filled with tears, large drops rolling down her cheeks, making her look pitiful.

Sean's face softened for a moment, then he continued, "I know very well the relationship between Ashley and Hendrix, and I also know the relationship between you and Hendrix. You know what I'm talking about. If you want to maintain your last bit of dignity and stay at Justice Peak Law Firm, I can pretend today's incident never happened and give you another chance. But if something similar happens again, Justice Peak Law Firm will not keep you."

Lynn was almost stunned.

She had disguised herself so well, how did Sean know?

Ashley, it must have been Ashley who told him! Otherwise, who else at Sky Balance Law Firm could have done it?

Her resentment kept growing, almost exploding in her head, but Lynn held it in. She couldn't fail, couldn't give up; she still had room to maneuver.

Tears streamed down her cheeks silently. Lynn took a deep breath, "I'm sorry, Mr. Ross. I swear I didn't intentionally deceive anyone. My feelings for you are as clear as day. I like you, I love you, and I'm willing to silently protect you by your side. Liking someone sometimes feels like a terminal illness. Even knowing there's no way out, I still go forward without hesitation. It's a good thing you said liking someone is not a crime, or I would be a hopeless death row inmate."

Sean's throat tightened.

He couldn't bear to blame Lynn.

Because what he was doing at this moment was no different.

He loved Ashley, even though he had been clearly rejected, he still couldn't let go, like a death row inmate clinging to the last hope, expecting a miracle.

He couldn't do it himself, so how could he expect others to?

After a moment, Sean pulled out a few tissues and handed them to Lynn, "Get out, I'll drive."

Lynn sobbed painfully a few times, wiped away her tears, and calmed down for a moment, "It's okay, Mr. Ross. I was mentally prepared; nothing would happen."

Sean leaned back against the rear seat, pinching his brow.

He vaguely felt that he and Lynn were somewhat alike.

He thought he was great, but in reality, he was pathetic.

Hannah didn't stop talking throughout the meal, recounting the anecdotes of Sky Balance Law Firm over the past two years.

Samantha ate while trying to hold back her laughter.

At the end, Ashley was stunned, "You said Harold's ex-girlfriend Savannah Summers is back?"

Hannah casually replied, "Yeah, after Lynn left, the firm was short of divorce lawyers. Harold was recruiting everywhere, and eventually, a candidate was recommended, Savannah. She went to Eirondia for a one-year master's degree, acting all high-end. I don't know how she charmed Harold, but now they're in a superior-subordinate relationship. So far, she hasn't done anything too outrageous, but she looks disgusting, especially when she tries to act cute. It makes me want to puke."

Ashley was also speechless. The world was so big, there were so many lawyers, couldn't Harold find a normal one?

Could it be that he still had lingering feelings for the soft and sweet Savannah? Even if she cheated and came back?

Shaking off the shivers, Ashley pouted, "No wonder Harold didn't tell me about this. I would definitely mock him."

Hannah suddenly straightened up, frantically signaling to Ashley.

Ashley turned around and saw a couple walking gracefully towards the entrance of the restaurant.

The man was in a black suit, tall and handsome. The woman wore a knitted long dress, her figure curvaceous, with a nude makeup look, her eyes full of a broken charm that could easily evoke a man's protective instincts.

"Harold." Ashley smiled and waved.

Harold visibly flinched, then forced a dry smile, "You guys are eating here too?"

Savannah beside him nodded weakly, showing a cute smile, "Ashley, you look so beautiful now, I almost didn't recognize you."
