Chapter 449 Mr. Hearst's Ex-Wife Ran Off with Someone
Victor got out of the car and immediately saw Damian's vehicle. It wasn't until his assistant reminded him that he noticed there was a woman sitting in the car in front.
As he approached and saw the woman's face clearly, a cold feeling surged in Victor's heart, but he quickly restrained his sharpness and put on his usual warm demeanor. "Ashley? Long time no see!"
Upon hearing Victor's voice, Ashley first glanced at Damian, thinking to herself, "You unlucky guy, nothing good ever happens when I'm with you." But her expression remained calm and elegant as she rolled down the window and smiled, "Long time no see, Victor."
During the morning rush hour, employees were arriving from all directions. Ashley didn't want to get out of the car with Damian and be watched by a crowd, so she quickly said, "I have a meeting nearby. I just happened to run into Mr. Hearst and got a ride. I won't disturb your work; I'll head over there."
She spoke naturally and fluently, but Victor understood very well. Would someone getting a ride sit in the driver's seat?
"Since it's nearby, don't rush off after you're done. Let's have lunch together; I'll make time."
His tone was firm and left no room for refusal. Ashley was about to find an excuse to decline when she heard Victor say, "There's something I want to discuss with you in person. Since we ran into each other, it saves us from having to arrange a meeting. Damian, if you're free, you can join us too."
Damian, who had been leaning an arm on the passenger window, slowly raised his cold gaze. "You might be free, but she might not be. If you have something to say, do it another day. I have plans today."
He gave Victor no face at all.
Victor's intentions were clear to Damian with just a glance.
Edward had been in big trouble these past few days, and Victor couldn't get away either. When he saw Ashley, he must have thought it was a good opportunity. If he could persuade Ashley, he might have a chance.
Wishful thinking.
Caught in the middle, Ashley said awkwardly, "Sorry, Victor. How about another day?"
What else could Victor say? He could only pretend not to care and smile, "Sure, no rush. I'll head up first."
After he left, Ashley asked, "Victor has such dark circles under his eyes. Is he in trouble recently?"
Damian directed her to drive into the underground garage. After passing the height restriction bar, he said, "He thought he was clever, trying to use Edward's power against me. Now he's been backstabbed, and the cleanup is tough!"
Ashley immediately thought of the negative news all over the media. Emperial Avenue Group was suspected of commercial fraud and was under investigation. Their stock had plummeted, and Edward and his son were in a mess, while Trinity, who was still in the hospital, was being cursed by netizens.
This family was in deep trouble and very eye-catching!
"KM and Emperial Avenue Group are so closely connected. Aren't you going to help them out?" Ashley asked sarcastically.
Damian unbuckled his seatbelt, pinched Ashley's chin, and smiled without warmth, "Help? He almost became my father-in-law. How could I not help?"
Ashley smirked, "Aren't you disappointed you didn't become Emperial Avenue Group's son-in-law, Mr. Hearst?"
Damian's lips brushed against hers, fanning the flames, "Someone disfigured my fiancée. I have to get even. Any suggestions, Ms. Astor?"
Ashley, afraid of being seen, shrank down, but Damian's arm extended, encircling her waist, his breath teasing her, making her ears turn red, leaving her nowhere to hide. "What kind of suggestion does Mr. Hearst want? From a legal perspective, report to the police, search for the culprit, do a disability assessment, hire a lawyer to file a lawsuit, follow the procedures, and the law will give a fair judgment."
Damian suddenly found her serious talk about the law amusing and said playfully, "What if I don't want to follow legal procedures?"
He pressed down so low that Ashley's shoes were already touching the front, her head sliding down the seat, almost lying down. "Mr. Hearst wants private revenge? Then I can't give you any suggestions."
Damian lifted her arm, pulling her up, "Victor wants to find a breakthrough from you and have you plead for him."
Ashley's mind raced, finally aligning with Damian's thoughts, "Edward's trouble is related to him?"
Damian pressed down on her upper body, disinterested, "You're quite smart."
With Victor involved, Ashley had to be cautious, "So what do you mean? Do you want to use this opportunity to suppress Victor or just a reminder?"
"I don't have time to play with him. This matter is up to you."
Ashley's head was about to explode. Damn it, why drag me into your brotherly fight? You're tough to deal with, and so is Victor. This is a lose-lose situation!
With a bitter smile, Ashley said, "I've never done anything bad. What if I mess it up?"
Damian's lips twitched, then he sneered, "How bad can it be? As long as no one dies, it's not a big deal."
Fine, she got it.
Ashley didn't know what grudge Damian and Victor had over Edward's matter, but it was clear that one had set a trap, and the other had fallen into it, one reaching out, and the other getting stabbed.
The one getting stabbed was obviously Victor.
Sitting in Damian's office, Ashley fell into deep thought.
Why was she here again?
In front of her was the laptop she used when handling his case, now with additional software, like various movie apps.
Ashley was puzzled. What did Damian mean?
As a frequent visitor to Damian's office, the staff in the president's office were not unfamiliar with Ashley, especially his secretary, Nancy. When she brought coffee, she even prepared Ashley's favorite snacks and whispered, "Ms. Astor, if you need anything, just call me."
Ashley smiled and glanced at Damian, who was seriously reviewing documents, and asked in a low voice, "How has Mr. Hearst's mood been lately?"
Nancy thought for a moment, "We can't really tell Mr. Hearst's mood, but the company is running well, so it should be good."
Ashley blinked, "What about personal matters?"
Nancy didn't dare gossip in front of Damian and whispered, "Wait a moment."
A few minutes later, Nancy added Ashley on WhatsApp and sent a message: [There's a secret you can't tell anyone, or I'm dead! Mr. Hearst was actually married. His ex-wife betrayed him and ran off with another man. It seems she recently came back, so Mr. Hearst's mood might not be great.]
Ashley looked at her phone in disbelief.
The gossip was about her, and it twisted the facts.
In the eyes of the few who knew, what kind of image did she have?
After replying to the message, Ashley noticed Damian's phone ringing. He glanced at it, picked it up, and turned to the suite.
The door closed, blocking all sound.
Inside.
"Speak."
"Mr. Hearst, we've found out."
"Really?"
"The person who took Ms. Peterson is a male, around thirty years old. His background is very complex, possibly connected to dark forces. They were last seen in Phoenix City. Our people have infiltrated major hospitals and arranged personnel in various neighborhoods."
Damian's sharp eyebrows furrowed, and his thin lips responded coldly, "What about her? Is she safe?"
