Chapter 528 Demanding a Kiss, Getting Beaten Up
Ashley's mind instantly recalled Damian's warning, 'absolute power disparity,' and her heart tightened. She quickly glanced at his hand with cold eyes, "Mr. Wilson, are you planning to use force? There are surveillance cameras all around the restaurant. If you dare to touch a single finger of mine, I'll make sure you end up in jail with shackles on."
Chad wore a confident smile, looking suave and dashing. He leaned down close to Ashley's ear, "Let me guess, you still care about that scumbag Damian?"
Ashley gritted her teeth, weighing whether to scream for the waiter or continue to outwit Chad and find a way to escape. Hearing his sudden remark, her body involuntarily tensed up.
It was quick and handled naturally, but Chad, who was tightly restraining Ashley, noticed it. He smiled provocatively, "Did I guess right? I thought Ms. Astor had gotten over her love-struck phase. After all the losses, you're still stubborn. If it were me, I'd have banged my head against the wall and died."
They say attacking someone's psychological shadow is the most painful.
Chad was very good at hitting people's sore spots.
Ashley returned a more disdainful smile, "Mr. Wilson, are you so eager to provoke me and my ex-husband because you're afraid your camp is too weak to confront him and desperately need me as an ally?"
Putting aside emotional issues, Ashley addressed the matter at hand.
But Chad was relentless, "Don't change the subject. What do you feel about Damian?"
"I don't need to answer you."
Whether she had feelings or not, Chad had no right to know.
Chad's curiosity was further piqued, "If you don't tell me, I'll just have to enjoy the pleasure of holding you. I'm more curious about what it feels like to kiss your lips."
As he spoke, he leaned in to claim her lips.
Ashley raised her hand, feeling a cold sensation on the back of it.
Instantly, she felt nauseous!
"An ex-husband is just an ex-husband. To me, you're all the same, disgusting male creatures. Let go before I throw up!"
Chad was once again utterly frustrated. Damn it, he was a standard handsome guy, so why did Ashley always feel like throwing up?
He couldn't believe it!
"Ashley." He straightened her arm, locking it behind her, creating enough space, and bent down to kiss her again!
A dark figure suddenly rushed over. Before Ashley could see clearly, she heard the sound of a fist hitting a body.
Immediately, Chad staggered back two steps.
Thomas threw a hook punch, aiming for Chad's face a second time. As his arm hung in the air, it was firmly held by a pair of fists. He squinted, switched hands, and delivered a hard punch to Chad's abdomen!
With a loud thud, Chad was hit again.
Chad wasn't one to take a beating. He lifted his leg and kicked Thomas in the abdomen, throwing a series of punches. The two fought fiercely.
Every move was ruthless and fierce.
Ashley only knew Damian was good at fighting, but she didn't expect Thomas to be just as formidable.
With punches and kicks exchanged, the two men in black suits demonstrated what professional brawling looked like.
Several tables were affected, glasses shattered on the floor, chairs and tables scraped against each other, and people fell to the ground, only to get up and pin their opponent down.
After dozens of moves, Thomas was slightly at a disadvantage. Chad's punches still landed solidly, determined to knock him down completely.
Ashley shouted, "Enough! Stop!"
She spread her arms, recklessly standing between the two, forcing them to stop.
Thomas, still holding his fists ready to fight, immediately withdrew his attack when he saw her, bowing his head, "Did he trouble you?"
Ashley shook her head, then looked at Chad, whose hair was disheveled and looked even more wild, "Mr. Wilson, tonight is not suitable for dinner. Before my friend beats you to a pulp, please turn right and leave."
Chad's mouth curled up in a carefree smile. He was used to Ashley lying even when she knew the truth. The one about to get beaten up was the other guy, "You and your servant have a great relationship, calling each other friends."
Ashley frowned. As expected, Damian's people had been thoroughly investigated. "You just need to know that Rochester City is my home turf. Think before you act. Don't have the guts to do something if you can't handle the consequences."
Chad straightened his slightly disheveled suit, took a step forward, and raised his hand to pat Thomas on the shoulder. "Thomas, why doesn't Damian come out himself?"
Thomas avoided his hand, expressionless, "Obviously, you're not worthy of Mr. Hearst's personal attention."
Chad laughed, "Tell your master that picking up what he threw away will cost him double."
Ashley had a gloomy face. She was speechless. What did the feud between volcano and KM have to do with her? Why did she have to be the sacrificial lamb?
"Tell your boss to be a man and not use women as pawns. It's disgusting!"
Thomas had already turned on the main light in the restaurant, revealing all the furnishings and making everyone's expressions particularly clear under the light.
So Chad could see his provocation and disdain.
"As long as we win, the means and process don't matter. My boss likes to take unconventional paths."
With that, he put his hands in his pockets and swaggered away.
When the restaurant was left with just her and Thomas, Ashley asked, "Did Mr. Hearst send you?"
Thomas didn't answer directly, "Did he threaten you?"
Ashley asked, "Has Mr. Hearst found out the relationship chain behind volcano? They're targeting KM, and their goal is likely the entire group."
Thomas had received information from Damian. The secret Hannibal couldn't reveal before his death had been uncovered by Damian. The truth was now clear enough, but the only uncertainty was who the founder of volcano was.
"Volcano has been targeting KM for years. The exact reason for their grudge against the KM Group is still unclear, but it's evident they're constantly challenging us. Over a decade ago, they kidnapped a very important friend of Mr. Hearst, then used the Astor Group to transfer KM's money, dragging both the Astor Group and KM into the fray."
Ashley urgently asked, "Is there a way to prove the Astor Group's innocence?"
She admitted she was selfish, most concerned about the Astor Group and her family.
"To prove the Astor Group's innocence, we first need to find the founder." Thomas emphasized.
Ashley nodded, "What do you need me to do?"
Thomas gestured for her to leave, "Your safety is the most important. Let's get out of here first."
Ashley looked at the injury on Thomas's mouth, feeling guilty, "Sorry for the trouble. I'll help you treat the wound later."
After all, the injury on Thomas's face was because of her.
"A minor injury, I can handle it myself." Thomas spoke as if he were used to getting hurt.
They got in the car and drove to the suburban villa.
Ashley couldn't hold back her curiosity, "You're very skilled, like a professional fighter. Were you in a gang before?"
Thomas choked on his saliva, "No, no, don't say that. It could get me in jail."
Really?
Ashley always felt Thomas had a complicated background.
No, it was Damian who had a complicated background.
They were both very good at fighting, with a particularly fierce and ruthless style, carrying a bloodthirsty aura.
Before long, the car stopped outside the villa.
Ashley adjusted her state and walked into the yard.
Damian was sitting on the living room sofa, holding a document. With the door open, the indoor temperature was a bit low. He was wearing a brown cashmere cardigan, his tall figure shrouded under the floor lamp, making him look particularly gentle in the dim light.
