Chapter 550 A Father Who Spoils His Daughter

Ashley lay in bed for a whole day and night, still unable to get up and walk. Samantha took Natalia to drink her medicine, while she stayed home and opened her computer to look at some information.

Sean sent her several emails, outlining the defense plan for the second trial, along with a few compressed files.

She read through them one by one, made annotations and revisions, and then replied.

After finishing her work, she turned and saw the gift box placed next to the coffee table, frowning slightly.

Yesterday, Jasper brought over a lot of supplements, saying it was Damian's intention for Sophie to cook them to help her recover.

But Ashley didn't want to eat them.

When Sophie was cleaning, she found the large, exquisite box and asked in confusion, "Ms. Astor, these are all top-quality supplements. Do you want to eat them? I can go to the kitchen and prepare them."

Ashley looked away, "I don't like these. You can take them home for your family."

Sophie was shocked, her eyes wide open, "This is too valuable, Ms. Astor. I can't accept it!"

"Take it, or it will be thrown away."

Sophie was uneasy. She had never eaten such expensive supplements in her life, "Alright then, thank you, Ms. Astor. My husband will be very lucky!"

Ashley smiled.

Ordinary couples are so good, occasional small happiness is enough.

Before long, the phone rang.

"Is it convenient to talk?"

On the other end, Sean's elegant voice, warm like the spring breeze in April.

Ashley, with her chin resting on a pillow, looked up at the screen uncomfortably, her arms numb. She adjusted her position, leaning sideways, and put the phone on speaker, "It's convenient, go ahead."

Sean said, "The defendant's wife has already settled in Rochester City, seemingly prepared for a long-term battle, but my client doesn't want to drag it out and wants a quick resolution. Our plan needs to be adjusted accordingly."

"What do you think?" Ashley looked back at the emails, trying to find a breakthrough point.

Sean said, "I hired a private investigator to check on his wife."

Ashley smiled, thinking that even someone as upright as Sean would do some underhanded things behind the scenes.

Sean coughed, "It's a work necessity, you understand. I found out that he and his wife went to a divorce mediation center three months ago. Their marriage had significant issues, and they planned to divorce, but this sudden incident interrupted the process."

Ashley thought for a while, "Since they were going to divorce, to prevent a large division of assets, he might have transferred some assets in advance. If his wife finds out he secretly transferred assets and plans to deplete their joint property, what would happen?"

Sean said, "At the point of divorce, the biggest disputes are usually over assets and child custody. His wife probably cares most about the assets she can get. I'll have someone track his financial movements."

Ashley said, "Also check if he has any other women around him. He might have been unfaithful during the marriage. No matter what means he used to temporarily move his wife to testify for him, once she knows about his despicable behavior, she will surely be disheartened and withdraw. At that time..." Ashley changed her tone, "Sean, you should meet his wife. I have a way to make her not testify."

Sean laughed, "You can come with me, and the credit will be yours."

Ashley wanted to go, but getting out of bed was a problem, "I played with Natalia yesterday and fell. I can't walk."

Sean's voice suddenly rose, "Is it that serious? Have you seen a doctor? What did the doctor say?"

Ashley suddenly felt very touched, her heartstrings being plucked.

This is the normal reaction of someone who cares, deeply concerned, even to the point of being flustered.

"The doctor said to rest, it's nothing serious. How about this, you come pick me up tomorrow, and we'll go together."

Sean wouldn't agree, "No, you need to rest. I'll go by myself."

"Do you have a capable female lawyer with you? Besides Lynn."

Ashley admitted she was petty and didn't want Lynn to take credit for her work.

Sean said, "There are female lawyers, but I don't work with them much to avoid causing any bad impressions."

Ashley admired Sean's character, he was too upright and clean, "I'll go with you, tomorrow at one in the afternoon."

Sean couldn't argue with her and had to agree.

After hanging up, Sean walked out of the kitchen, "Mom, have the nanny make some bone broth tomorrow and a few light dishes suitable for a patient."

Mabel Simpson put down the small gloves she was knitting for her granddaughter, "What happened? Is someone hurt?"

"Ashley, she said she fell and is resting at home."

"What? Is it serious? You should go see her. How can she manage alone?"

"Later, I'll bring the soup over."

Mabel quickly stood up and walked to the kitchen, "I'm best at making soup, I'll do it. How could Ashley be so careless? Injuries heal slowly in winter, so she needs to stay warm. We still have some lamb, I'll make some lamb stew to warm and nourish her."

Sean stood by the kitchen sliding door, smiling. "Mom, didn't you want me to not see her?"

Mabel, holding some greens, looked back at Sean and smiled bitterly, "If I didn't want to, would you listen? Cleo talks about how good Ashley is every day, how beautiful she is. Both you and your daughter like her so much, what can I do?"

At first, the Ross family's biggest concern was the Astor family's background scandal, worried that if Sean really got together with her, it would cause public pressure. But on the other hand, if they cared about everything, always considering face and practical benefits, would that still be love?

Over the past two years, they saw everything Sean did for Ashley. It was rare for Sean to be willing to open his heart again, and they had no reason not to support him.

Thinking of this, Mabel walked to Sean, handed him the greens, "Sean, let me ask you, do you really want to marry her?"

Sean walked to the sink, rolled up his sleeves, and turned on the water, "I do, but she has to be willing. She said she doesn't want to remarry."

Mabel said earnestly, "Even if I haven't met Ashley, as someone with experience, I know a woman's heart. What woman doesn't need someone to rely on? No matter how strong or brave, everyone has moments of vulnerability. Who doesn't want someone to be there when they wake up from a dream in the middle of the night?"

Sean carefully washed the greens, looking at Mabel handling the ribs, a slight smile on his lips, "Mom, thank you."

"Thank me for what? If you marry someone you truly love, give Cleo a home, and let your father and me be at ease, we should be thanking you."

Sean's hands were wet, otherwise, he would have hugged Mabel.

With Jasper and Thomas accompanying her, Natalia happily played for most of the day. Damian, worried about her getting too tired, had her stop midway to eat some fruit and desserts.

Damian personally wiped the sweat from her forehead and back and helped her change into a fresh new outfit.

In front of the mirror, Natalia was overjoyed, the pink puffy princess dress completely capturing her heart.

And Damian had prepared a whole wardrobe of such clothes for her.

Natalia twirled around, showing off the dress, "Thank you, Uncle. The clothes you bought for me are so beautiful!"

Damian smiled, "As long as Natalia likes them."

Thomas, on the side, was constantly having his worldview refreshed.

He was getting less and less familiar with Damian!

This doting on a daughter was too exaggerated.

Samantha was even more shocked. If she told her friends that Damian was a homebody, completely smitten by a five-year-old girl, they would all line up to bang their heads against the wall.

In the evening, after Natalia had a nice dinner, Thomas took her home.

Thomas carried Natalia, while Samantha leisurely carried the large bags of clothes and gifts.

Luckily, Natalia wasn't Damian's biological daughter, otherwise, he would have emptied an entire mall. Even so, the amusement park and children's clothing stores were practically reserved by Damian.

While grumbling, Samantha walked in and saw a shocking scene!

What! Was this possible?
