Chapter 166 Ashley Cries in the Bathroom

Trinity slowly reached out her hand, trying to grab Damian's slender big hand. "Love is between two people, but marriage involves two families. Especially in a big family like KM Road. Without enough power to be with you, I would be out sooner or later. Ashley will never enter the Hearst family's gate in her lifetime. Anthony made it clear to me that as long as he is alive, Ashley could never step into the Hearst family."

This was her confidence, so she was not afraid of Ashley being with Damian.

Damian withdrew his hand, avoiding contact with her. "You can't enter the Hearst family's gate either."

Trinity was extremely panicked.

She thought as long as her father and the Hearst family reached an agreement, there would be no trouble in this marriage.

But she forget how Damian's stubborn. He may against their decision.

'What should I do?' Trinity hesitated, not knowing how to handle this situation.

"Mr. Hearst, I..."

"All the legal documents for this collaboration have been prepared. Whether to continue or not is not up to you. But I remind you, exchanging marriage for benefits is doomed to fail. I advise you to stop early and not waste time."

Trinity blurted out, "Are you going to call off the wedding?"

Damian sneered, "There is no engagement, so there is no calling off the wedding."

"But you have met my parents, and Anthony has always talked about our marriage."

Damian coldly stated, "I never say that."

Trinity slumped in the chair, her face was as white as paper. "You're fooling me."

Damian took one piece of napkin and wiped his mouth. "In business partnerships, each relies on their abilities. Miss Bezos, I will naturally accept the resources you offered with both hands. It's just that you are a bit presumptuous. With just a few words from others, you unilaterally decide on marriage. Do you remember any promises I made to you."

Too much shock and blow to her, Trinity was completely dumbfounded. "Your intention was to get the resources of the Imperial Avenue Groups!"

"It wasn't at first. But Miss Bezos, you have been using my name to flaunt around. I received it as compensation for loss of reputation is not too much to ask."

Trinity, who was already at her wits' end, had a blank mind. She had lost the ability to think and instinctively asked, "You've taken advantage of me from the beginning."

Damian pulled out the chair and stood up. "You should be grateful that you still have some utility. Also, mind your own business and don't disturb my grandfather's peace. If I find out you're scheming behind my back, I won't hesitate to take action."

Under the onslaught of anger and despair, Trinity stood up abruptly. "Damian!"

Damian stopped without turning his head. "Miss Bezos, is there something else?"

Tears streamed down Trinity's fair cheeks. She shuddered, silently choking. "Why? Why are you treating me like this? I love you so much, but you are so heartless."

"You don't love me."

Damian turned slowly. "You were in a hurry to use my name to connect with the executives of Charlotte Harbor International Bank, to secure a fifty billion dollars loan for Emperial Avenue Groups. Do you think Matthew Anderson is a fool? Will he trust you from words you said?"

Trinity's steps faltered, tears swirling madly but not daring to fall. "How did you know?"

"I certainly know," Damian answered her, then sneered, "You've checked Ashley's law firm out. What did you find?"

"I can explain that. I was just curious about her work environment, not scheming anything. How did you know?"

Ashley was her potential threat, and she needed to know everything about her. She didn't want to be constantly overshadowed by Ashley. But she was sure the private detective she sent over hadn't revealed anything suspicious. Damian shouldn't know.

Damian's look turned completely cold. "I was just guessing before. Now I'm sure."

Regret gnawed at Trinity. She had fallen into Damian's trap. With Damian in a rage, she couldn't confront him head-on anymore. Softening her tone, she negotiated with Damian, "No matter how, we are at least in a business relationship now. There should be some explanation to Anthony. Even if you don't want to marry me, we still need to finish the project first."

Trinity planned to yield for now and discuss with her parents later on what to do next.

She must become Mrs. Hearst. If necessary, she could resort to any means.

Damian said, "I will find a time to explain to him."

Wiping away the traces of tears from her eyes, Trinity forced a smile, showing her understanding and patience. "Alright, your grandpa is old and isn't in good health. Think about how to tell him without upsetting him too much."

Ashley reached up to touch the tear on her face, and her heart ached sharply and urgently.

She thought that after saying so many harsh words, her heart was strong enough to match her tough attitude, but as soon as she turned around, she felt heart bleeding.

Ashley cupped cold water and splashed it on her face, washing away the tears and revealing a pale face.

The complex network of blood vessels crawled all over her eye sockets, mirroring her turbulent emotions.

Ashley closed her eyes again, and the salty liquid continued to flow out, leaving her feeling powerless and sad. The relationships were broken down. She could never be involved with Damian, and she became an enemy of Trinity.

She had no choice but to move forward; there was no turning back.

Ashley, it's not bad. Finally, no more hesitation, it's a good thing.

"Ashley, what's wrong?"

Ashley was immersed in her emotions when suddenly she heard Mr. Moretti's secretary, Cheryl Perez, spoke. She splashed some water on her face again, then casually said, "Nothing, I'm just a bit tired. Jet lag hasn't worn off yet."

Cheryl had been with Mr. Moretti for several years and could read people's expressions. Ashley's eyes clearly showed signs of crying. She took out a tissue from her bag and said, "It's been a long journey. You sitting in first class would be much better. Economy class is terrible."

Ashley took the tissue and thanked her. "If we win the lawsuit, I'll help you get a first-class seat on the return trip. Men can endure it, but girls shouldn't suffer this."

Gratefully, Cheryl hugged her arm and said, "That's great! I'll assist you well."

Ashley casually asked, "Does Mr. Moretti arrange this meeting? He's been busy all the way and still has to worry about so many things. He's the tiredest."

Cheryl had heard complaints from Kevin and the others about Ashley. They are quiet dissatisfied with Ashley. Having just met each other for the first day, she didn't know if Ashley was a friend or foe. She said casually, "Mr. Moretti is always busy. He can't sit still. If you need anything, you can ask me."

Ashley nodded, and then took out an unopened bottle of perfume from her bag. "I bought this at the airport. I feel like it would suit you."

Cheryl was a bit surprised. Ashley was actively trying to befriend her.

The gift placed in the bag was meant to give her, but she didn't expect to meet Cheryl before the meeting. Ashley candidly asked, "Do you like it, Cheryl?"

Ashley was her superior right now. As a subordinate, she couldn't say she didn't like it. "I like it. It's the brand I like. Thank you, Ashley."

"I just thought it would suit you. Don't overthink it. I'm straightforward and don't have many ulterior motives. If you have problem in the future, feel free to tell me. We're all women, and I understand the challenges in the workplace. I have a meeting now. I'd go."

Holding the gift Ashley gave her, Cheryl hesitated.

Mr. King and the others had demonized Ashley too much. She thought Ashley seemed not that bad from the talk.

As Cheryl waited for the elevator to the meeting room, she ran into Kevin, who had just finished eating. "Mr. King."

Kevin smiled. "Did you see Mr. Moretti?"

Cheryl replied, "Mr. Moretti was in the meeting room. I went to the bathroom and saw Ashley crying in there."

Kevin, adjusting his collar, turned his head in surprise, unable to hide his smile. "Ashley was crying?"
