Chapter 342 A Chance Encounter on the Tennis Court
"So, I just smacked the heiress of Emperial Avenue Group? The one who's supposedly with Mr. Hearst?" Hannah flopped onto the couch, her eyes blank for a moment.
Ashley chuckled, "Scared?"
Hannah tried to be brave but then slumped again, "Emperial Avenue Group... they're pretty powerful. I think they even do business with my family. Do you think she'll come after us?"
Ashley wasn't sure if someone like Trinity would hold a grudge. "It's fine. She had it coming. If anything happens, I'll have your back. I won't let you stand up for me for nothing."
Hannah had been spoiled and carefree since she was a kid, often causing minor troubles, but hitting Trinity made her uneasy, "Does she have a grudge against you?"
"Yeah, a big one," Ashley replied.
Hannah licked her lips. "Should I call Harold? Maybe he can send someone to pick us up. I'm scared she'll get help and block us."
That was a possibility, but bothering Harold about this didn't seem right. "Harold has a court case tomorrow, so let's not disturb him."
Hannah put down her phone and bit her nails, "Then I'll ask my dad. Isn't a father the one who's supposed to clean up the mess for us?"
Ashley don't know whether to laugh or cry at her words.
If Hannah's dad heard that, he'd probably faint from anger.
"Let's go. Maybe today isn't the best day for beauty treatments. We'll come back another day," Ashley said.
Mainly, they weren't in the mood anymore.
Hannah also thought leaving was the right choice; staying here would only make her more upset, "But Ashley, we can't just go home like this, right?"
Ashley said, "Of course not. I brought you out to have fun, and I can't let you go back with a sad face. I need to cheer you up first."
Hannah's eyes lit up, sparkling like stars, "So, what are we going to do?"
"Work up a sweat!" Ashley said.
Hannah thought she meant a sauna, but when they arrived, she realized it was tennis.
Looking at the fitness enthusiasts sweating on the indoor tennis court, Hannah pouted, ready to cry, "Ashley, are you serious?"
Ashley nodded, "Sweating releases dopamine, which makes you feel happy. Besides, when you become a lawyer and read case files, it takes a lot of physical energy. You need to be in good shape."
Ashley also increasingly realized how important a strong body was. It could give her an edge in a fight, for example.
Hannah was successfully persuaded and nodded enthusiastically, "You really have foresight."
Ashley and Hannah were about the same in terms of physical strength. They encouraged each other to keep going for half an hour.
Hannah collapsed on the ground, dropping her tennis racket, "Ashley, I can't do it anymore. I'm exhausted."
Ashley propped her hands on her knees, sweat dripping from her nose to the ground, her ponytail strands damp with sweat, "Rest for a bit, then play for another half hour. Our stamina is too poor. If we encounter unreasonable clients in the future, we'll only get beaten up. Do you want to get beaten up?"
Hannah struggled, "No!"
Before the second half started, Hannah's eyes were drawn to a tall figure. She stammered, her finger trembling as she pointed with excitement, "Ashley... Ashley!"
Ashley looked up and glanced over. Not far away, a man in sportswear was none other than Sean.
Was he here to play tennis, too?
Sean was Hannah's idol. As soon as he arrived, she was instantly rejuvenated, happily swinging her racket, "Ashley, Ashley, can you invite him to play with us?"
Ashley frowned, "You sure you can handle it?"
Hannah grinned, "I can't keep up with you, but with my idol, I think I can!"
Ashley didn't want to interact too much with Sean privately. Ever since she sensed his feelings for her, she wanted to stay far away, "He might not be available."
Hannah clung to her arm, "Ashley, please, please... Can you at least say hi to Sean?"
If she weren't too timid to approach Sean herself, she wouldn't be begging Ashley like this.
Ashley couldn't bear to see her disappointed and nodded, "Alright, I'll help you this time. Next time, you'll have to approach Sean yourself."
"Yes, yes, yes, Ashley, I love you!!" Hannah watched Ashley step by step, her eyes following her every move as she talked to Sean. Then, Hannah watched her walk back with Sean following behind.
Ashley really brought Sean over.
Hannah swallowed, gripped her racket, and smiled at him, "Mr. Ross, are you here to play, too?"
Up close, she could clearly see Sean's lean arms and well-proportioned legs. In a suit, he was a refined and elegant gentleman; in sportswear, he was sunny, handsome, and approachable. He looked charming in any outfit.
Sean smiled and nodded, "Want to play together?"
Hannah had been hoping for this and shyly said, "I'm not very good at it; I don't know many techniques. Mr. Ross, could you teach us?"
"Of course," Sean said.
Hannah was overjoyed.
Ashley stepped back to rest, "You guys play; I'm out of energy."
Sean didn't say much and started seriously coaching Hannah. He was patient and attentive, correcting her mistakes and repeatedly guiding her on common moves to avoid injuring her arms and knees.
Hannah was over the moon, her happiness written all over her face, "Mr. Ross, you're amazing. You're great at law and great at tennis, too."
Sean smiled lightly, "You're too kind."
Hannah wiped the sweat from her face, beaming, "I'm Hannah, an intern at Sky Balance Law Firm. Mr. Ross, you don't know me, but I know you. I've watched all your cases; each one is super classic."
Sean said, "I remember you. I saw you with Ashley at the court for the KM case."
Hannah's face turned red to her ears, her eyes sparkling with surprise, "Mr. Ross, you remember me so well?"
Sean smiled lightly.
Anything related to Ashley seemed to leave a deep impression on him.
After about twenty minutes, they took a break. Sean walked to the rest area.
Over here.
While they were playing intensely, Ashley tried to minimize her presence, occasionally looking up from her phone.
She liked Hayden's social media posts, and then switched to a case analysis website for some of her studies.
Suddenly, a long, well-toned arm appeared in front of her, connected to clean, slender fingers.
"What?" Ashley said.
Sean said, "No water?"
Ashley was startled, thinking Sean wanted to hold her hand, "Yes!"
She took a new bottled water from the shopping bag and handed it to him.
Sean deftly unscrewed the cap and handed it back to her.
Ashley was puzzled, "You're not drinking?"
Sean turned, reached over, and grabbed another new bottle, "I'll drink this one."
Ashley took the bottle, "Thanks."
Sean drank a few sips, his Adam's apple moving up and down as he swallowed, sweat trailing from his jaw to his neck, then down to his collarbone.
Ashley quickly looked away.
Sean said, "I've never seen you here before. First time?"
