Chapter 490 Arrogantly Laughing at Him

Damian flipped through the pages of the documents and confirmed one thing, "The explosion was not an accident."

The purpose was clear: to create an explosion, causing chaos within KM Group, leading to unstable stock prices, and then buying up shares in large quantities.

Initially, Damian suspected Victor of poor supervision, but now it was evident that there was a mastermind behind it.

Thomas tensed up, with many chaotic clues flashing through his mind, but he couldn't piece together a complete chain of evidence. After all, those daring enough to target KM Group were few and far between, even nationwide.

Who would be so fearless to commit such a crime?

Edward had a motive for revenge, but he didn't have the capability!

"Mr. Hearst, do you have any suspects?"

Damian flicked the cigarette between his fingers, his eyes narrowing slightly, "It should be an overseas company."

Thomas's vigilance heightened again. Since Mr. Hearst said so, he must be ninety percent sure.

Targeting KM? As an established domestic company, he couldn't understand why overseas assets would insist on causing trouble.

After a moment, Damian leaned back in his chair and said coldly, "I suspect the same group that attacked KM Group also took Selene."

Before coming across the hostile takeover documents, Damian had suspected someone was stirring up trouble in the shadows but hadn't considered external forces much. Now, he could basically conclude that the hidden power was finally surfacing.

Thomas blurted out, "Volcano!"

This company was making waves in Sylvania, having quickly risen by seizing the internet boom over a decade ago. In recent years, it had amassed wealth rapidly, climbing the ranks of the rich list with a ruthless and domineering style, acquiring major companies like a shark hunting prey.

Damian pondered, unable to figure out why Volcano would capture the defenseless Selene or why they would suddenly attack KM after so many years.

The only certainty was that both Selene and the company were directly connected to him.

Perhaps this wasn't just a simple business conflict but a personal vendetta.

Thinking of this, Damian made a decisive decision, "Arrange a private jet. I'm flying to Evercrest City tomorrow."

With things developing to this point, he had to get to the bottom of it. It was time to meet the person hiding behind the scenes.

"But we can't do without you here in the country."

Everyone had been on high alert these days, with no one getting a good night's sleep. If it weren't for Mr. Hearst's steady leadership, many would have already collapsed.

Damian said, "Victor is still the vice president. This happened under his watch, and he will do everything he can to fix it."

As for the consequences he would face after this was over, the chairman would decide.

The next morning.

Damian took a private jet to Evercrest City.

The plane landed at the airport in Rainbow District, and as he stepped out of the cabin, it was drizzling outside.

Thomas opened a black umbrella and silently accompanied Damian down the steps. Soon, Damian took the umbrella and walked briskly on his own.

A security guard handed Thomas another umbrella, and he followed a few steps behind.

This was where Mrs. Hearst was.

Mr. Hearst's feelings must be complicated.

Evercrest City.

The city where Ashley lived.

She didn't like rainy days, so her mood was probably affected today.

But being with her family, she would likely be happy despite the weather.

Damian clenched his fist in his pocket, forcibly suppressing the impulse in his mind.

After getting in the car, Damian's phone rang.

"Dad."

Bryan didn't exchange pleasantries with his son but straightforwardly said, "Volcano's CEO is elusive. I've had people investigate, and they say he never plays by the rules. Since the company's founding, they've repeatedly engaged in illegal operations but always managed to avoid trouble. He is also a supporter of the current president of Sylvania, with covert government backing."

Although Bryan no longer worked at KM Group, his connections were still there, and his eyes and ears were everywhere. But this was all the information he could gather.

Damian said, "I know."

He had already seen this information in the database.

However, the founder's gender was still unknown.

Quite a disadvantage.

After a pause, Bryan said, "Damian, KM Group is the result of generations of hard work by the Hearst family. A madman must not destroy it. Your grandfather believes in you, and so do I."

Victor and Nathan's mistakes had left an indelible bad impression on Anthony. Now, only Damian could turn the tide.

"No one can destroy KM," Damian said firmly.

A few petty tricks weren't enough to throw him into complete disarray.

Bryan felt reassured by his son's confident response, "I've discussed it with your grandfather. While you're away from the company, I'll temporarily take over as Mr. Hearst. When you return, I'll hand it back to you."

"We'll talk about it later."

A cold response, showing no emotion for his father's willingness to step back in, nor any anticipation for when the CEO position would return to him.

Thomas was somewhat shocked, "I didn't expect Mr. Hearst to return to the company."

Damian remained silent, his face cold.

Upon arriving at the hotel and checking in, Thomas immediately went to Volcano Group to schedule a meeting with their CEO.

Damian said, "He won't see you, but their vice president might provide some useful information."

Damian opened his laptop, closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and then quickly started typing, his fingers creating a blur on the screen.

After waiting for over half an hour, the secretary from the president's office finally called.

"Sorry, Thomas, the president doesn't accept any visits. You can schedule a time with the vice president."

Damian had predicted this outcome, "Alright, please arrange a meeting with your vice president."

After another half-hour wait, Thomas was finally invited into the extravagant and luxurious Volcano office building.

This high-end office building in Digital Valley was entirely made of glass walls, with transparent elevators offering a view of each floor's bustling, efficient, and high-tech environment, blending all the most advanced and youthful commercial forces.

Under the dome of the lobby stood a life-sized replica of a rocket, so realistic it seemed ready to launch into space at any moment.

Finally, the elevator reached the penultimate floor, and to Thomas's surprise, the vice president was a young, beautiful blonde woman!

With clear, translucent skin and strikingly aggressive features, she held what seemed more like a dagger than a pen, ready to strike at any moment.

The nameplate on the desk read "April."

April? Was she born in April?

Thomas steadied himself and said, "Hello, I'm Thomas, assistant to Damian, CEO of KM Group."

April's disdainful gaze swept over him, her eyes arching in a mocking curve, clearly displeased that Damian hadn't come himself, "The almighty KM Group, coming to us voluntarily, I'm quite flattered."

Her cold, indifferent voice was laced with sarcasm.

Thomas chuckled, "Volcano is a strong new force, dominating the young market with a distinct corporate style. KM rarely visits others unless we deem them worthy."

"So, I should thank your president for thinking so highly of us?" April crossed her arms and legs.

Thomas said, "Miss April's understanding shows you know us well. Respect is one thing, mutual admiration is another."

April sneered, "No need for outdated pleasantries! Thomas, you must have something important to discuss, coming all the way to Sylvania. Let's hear it."

Hotel.

Damian paused his attack on the opponent's defense network, looking at the message that popped up on the screen.

Each word seemed to have a mocking expression, laughing at him.

[Finally, you're here, Damian.]
