Chapter 404 Where to Find Such a Handsome Man

Besides delivering it herself, Ashley couldn't think of a better way. After all, it wouldn't be appropriate to hand over the food meant for Damian to someone else.

The luggage was already packed and ready to be loaded into the car.

The room was clean and tidy, with nothing left behind. Ashley took a deep breath as she looked at the food box on the coffee table.

The top floor arrived quickly, and Ashley raised her hand to press the doorbell.

"Come in."

Through the thick door, Damian's deep voice could be heard. Ashley noticed that the door was not locked, just slightly ajar.

No wonder the voice was so clear.

"These are some snacks from Freya for you. They've been in the fridge, so the taste should still be good."

As Ashley entered, Damian was just heading into the inner suite, so she simply spoke towards the suite door.

Unexpectedly, Damian came out holding a phone, clearly still on a call.

Ashley felt a bit awkward. Who was on the other end of the call, and would they overthink hearing her voice?

Damian said a brief "Let's leave it at that" to the person on the other end, then hung up and put the phone in his pocket. He looked at Ashley, who had changed clothes, and asked, "Leaving?"

"Checking out, staying at Amelia's tonight." She deliberately took a half-step back to maintain a distance of 3.2 feet from Damian.

Damian stopped walking towards her, his gaze not on the snack box but instead asking, "When are you heading back to Rochester City?"

Ashley's first thought was, is this guy planning to hitch a ride again? "Tomorrow."

Damian replied, "Alright."

After speaking, she noticed that Damian's room was already packed. The living room had only a small suitcase, and his suit jacket was hanging on the coat rack. "Are you leaving today?"

"Yes, there's work at the company that I need to handle."

Of course, with his busy schedule, he wouldn't stay out for long.

"Is Mr. Young going back with you?"

"Him? Not sure."

So, he was flying back alone.

Ashley looked at the still-healing wound on his forehead. "Have you talked to the doctor? Should you go to the hospital for a check-up after landing? If you're not in a rush, you could visit the hospital first when you get to Rochester City. I mean, just to make sure there are no lingering issues."

Damian didn't show any impatience and cooperatively said, "Alright, I'll go to the hospital after landing. Anything else?"

"No, that's all."

As she walked out of the room, Ashley felt something was off.

She was just being polite, but why did Damian make it feel like she was saying goodbye to her husband?

The next day, Ashley drove back to Rochester City.

She spent half the day at work, mostly listening to gossip.

Especially the chatterbox Hannah, who didn't stop for a moment, filling her in on everything that had happened at the law firm over the past two days.

"Lynn finally left! And guess what, she somehow got hired by my dream law firm! I seriously suspect the interviewer was blind!"

That was the first piece of news.

Then Hannah said, "Mr. Brin went to see Mr. Long yesterday. It seems they're planning to rebrand the firm and partner with big corporations to get into more major companies' legal teams. Isn't that exciting?"

This was indeed good news. Ashley asked, "Do they have a specific plan? Like which companies?"

"First, they're aiming for the Jones Group, like NovaTech Solutions and FusionForge Technologies."

Hearing this, Ashley's attention was fully captured. Hendrix wanted to collaborate with the Jones Group?

The Jones Group held a significant position in Rochester City, naturally a big corporation. More importantly, the CEO of the Jones Group was Theo, someone she knew.

If they really collaborated with the Jones Group, wouldn't she get to see Theo often?

But with so many big companies in Rochester City, why did Hendrix and Harold specifically choose the Jones Group as their first target?

Hannah, with a dreamy look, asked, "Ashley, do you know Theo? The youngest CEO in the history of the Jones Group, used to be a pianist, then left the stage to join the family business. He's said to be the Schubert among corporate executives, elegant and gentle."

Ashley scratched her brow silently, "He's alright."

Harold heard that Ashley was back and rushed over, "Ashley, you're back just in time. There's a project proposal here for you to look at."

Ashley grinned, "A bid proposal?"

Harold flicked Hannah's forehead with his long finger, "Was it you again? I knew you'd spill everything."

Hannah stuck out her tongue, handed the document to Ashley, and said, "Well, I'll leave you two to talk."

Then she ran off.

The document detailed the advantages of Sky Balance Law Firm, listing the victories over the years and its compatibility with the Jones Group.

What gave Ashley a headache was that the proposal prominently featured her, packaging her as the firm's star.

Ashley awkwardly smiled, "Mr. Brin, who made this document? It's biased."

Harold said, "I've discussed your concerns with Hendrix, and Lucien has no objections. Although you've been here a short time, your achievements are evident. Placing you after the three of us seems reasonable."

Ashley declined, "In terms of seniority, I can't compare to the firm's veterans. This might hurt their feelings."

Harold, taking a leadership stance, said coldly, "This is my decision. Anyone with objections can come to my office."

Seeing his determination, Ashley had no choice but to agree.

After discussing work, Ashley chatted with him about Amelia's good news. Harold was naturally happy but couldn't help but tease, "After all these years, she's finally the lead! If she doesn't play the lead now, she'll end up playing the lead's mom."

Ashley threatened to tell Amelia what he said.

Then she asked, "With Lynn gone, do we need to hire a new person? Do you have any candidates?"

Harold didn't see Lynn's departure as a loss for the firm. They had said everything that needed to be said that day. Lynn didn't want to stay in the same company as Hendrix to avoid awkwardness, and he had politely tried to keep her, but they ended up happily signing the resignation letter.

As for new hires, Harold had people looking for suitable candidates outside. They had received a few resumes but weren't satisfied.

"I've arranged for recruitment, but if you have any suitable candidates, you can refer them."

Ashley said, "We have a lot of connections among the lawyers here. It's better to hire externally."

KM Tower, President's Office.

Damian had been out for two days, and a lot of work had piled up. He spent the whole day catching up and finally finished the documents on his desk.

When Thomas came in, Damian was busy facing the window.

The setting sun cast a golden-orange glow, enveloping him in an elegant halo.

If he weren't afraid of getting in trouble, Thomas would have loved to take a picture and post it on Twitter, just for Ashley to see.

Where else could you find such a handsome man?

"Mr. Hearst, here are the documents you requested."

Thomas had long adapted to Damian's workaholic style. Over the past three years, he had almost never left on time, and the entire floor often worked late.

But in those three years, the company's performance had skyrocketed, and everyone's bonuses had increased. Despite the hard work, no one complained.

Today, Damian had once again asked everyone to work overtime. In the president's office, there were only hurried footsteps and no complaints.

Damian turned his chair, holding an unfinished wood carving. He put the wood and carving knife into the drawer, and the vacuum system had already cleaned up the wood shavings. "Is Victor still in the office?"
