Chapter 523 Natalia Suddenly Faints

Jessica's beautiful face lost its smile.

The calm she tried to maintain was shattered by the tears in her eyes. She tightly gripped the handles of the wheelchair, the veins on her hands bulging as she suppressed her grievances and sadness. She softly said, "Mr. Hearst, I never hoped to become someone important to you, nor did I want to forcefully occupy a place in your heart. I just really like you. From the day I became your psychologist, the moment I first saw you, I was deeply attracted to you. At that time, I thought, such an outstanding man should be matched with the best woman in the world, and I am far from qualified. So..."

Her voice had a faint sobbing tone. She looked down at Damian, who was still sitting there with his usual calm expression, and continued, enduring the sharp pain in her heart, "So I never had any presumptuous thoughts. I just did my duty, helping you whenever you needed it, no matter how late or how tired I was. As soon as I received your call, I would immediately perk up. I swear, I never hoped to become your wife, just a dedicated and responsible doctor."

"Two years ago, when I heard about the arranged date, I admit I was overjoyed. I was so happy that I almost forgot who I was. But I was also mentally prepared that you wouldn't accept an ordinary woman like me, and it was impossible for you to love me. I was ready to treat that meeting as a ceremony to say goodbye to my fantasies."

"Later, Nicole contacted me again, saying you had a severe car accident and were in a coma. Without thinking, I told her I was willing to take care of you. Whether you had any feelings for me or not, I was willing to take care of you. Even if the doctors said you might never wake up again, I still wanted to guard you and accompany you."

Jessica's eyes were filled with tears, and her voice had a noticeable sobbing tone. "Thank God, you finally woke up. At the moment you woke up, I thought it might be time to leave. That day, I said goodbye to Nicole, and she asked me to stay a little longer to accompany you through rehabilitation. During those days, Anthony was also unwell and was in the hospital's intensive care unit. She was exhausted, and I couldn't bear to refuse her, so I ran back and forth between Anthony and you."

She lowered her head, letting her tears silently fall to the floor, and gently sniffed. "You were eager to draw a clear line with me. To be honest, I felt a bit wronged because I didn't cling to you, nor did I want to claim any title, let alone think of marrying you. I thought after going through so much, we were already friends who could accompany each other, joke around, and share happiness and sadness. It turns out, I was wrong."

Damian listened to her in silence, his gaze distant as he looked outside the door.

The leaves were falling, and the trees were withering.

Perhaps the decline of the season had an impact on him, and he couldn't bear to say harsh words to push her away. Instead, he said as calmly as possible, "Don't waste your time on me. I won't give you what you want."

"What I want is just to be by your side. I'm not that greedy," Jessica emphasized seriously.

Damian said, "You want more than that."

His words were sharp and decisive.

Jessica felt embarrassed as if her secret had been exposed. She bit her lip and said, "Is my affection such a burden to you?"

Damian's Adam's apple moved slightly, and he thought of Ashley from back then.

Her persistence was much stronger than Jessica's, to the point of creating countless coincidences to meet him, always smiling and clinging to him, trying to please him in every way.

His reaction back then was much more cruel and decisive.

But Ashley never cried or complained. Instead, she would look up with a smile, pure and innocent, and ask him, "Mr. Hearst, what kind of girl do you like? I'll become her for you!"

Perhaps that was a privilege of youth, to express love without restraint.

But Jessica and he were already adults, understanding restraint and control.

Damian said, "I have someone I like."

Jessica's fingers curled up, and her tears flowed even faster.

She had guessed right.

Damian's change in attitude was because he had someone he loved.

Jessica wiped away the tears from her eyes, forced a smile, and said, "Who is it? Do I know her? I'm curious about which woman has captured Mr. Hearst's heart."

Damian said, "You don't need to know."

"Why wasn't she by your side when you needed her the most?" Jessica was unwilling to accept it. She found it hard to accept!

Damian wasn't a reckless person, nor would he suddenly like someone. So why wasn't the woman he loved by his side during his most difficult times?

Damian's cold gaze looked at her, as if reminding her to watch her words.

Jessica nodded, seemingly resigned. "I understand. I'll try not to bother you in the future, but I made this meal especially for you today. Even if you don't like me, at least have a good meal."

After saying that, she forced herself to take a step, picked up her bag and car keys, and looked back at him when she reached the door. "Mr. Hearst, your deep and devoted nature will only make those who love you love you even more."

Watching Jessica leave the hall, Damian pinched the bridge of his nose.

In the end, he owed Jessica's feelings.

"Mr. Hearst, why did Jessica leave? Didn't she say she brought lunch to eat with you?"

Damian was holding a book, looking down at it. "She had something to do."

Jasper didn't quite understand. Didn't Jessica specifically make time for this? How could she have something to do and leave?

"The kitchen made lunch, but it's not as sumptuous as what Jessica prepared. Mr. Hearst, have your meal here. I'll go to the kitchen with the chef."

Jasper entered and saw the well-presented dishes, feeling a bit tempted. The chef's food was good, but it didn't look this nice.

Damian said, "I'll go to the kitchen dining room. Throw these away."

"What? Throw them all away?" Jasper was silently swallowing his saliva, and Damian wanted him to throw them away?

Damian got into his wheelchair and went to the kitchen alone. Jasper couldn't bear to waste the food, so he secretly put it in the kitchen fridge, wrapped up the Mont Blanc, and saved it for Natalia.

Meanwhile.

Natalia was having a rare moment of fun, and Ashley didn't restrict her.

Around three in the afternoon, the wind picked up. Cleo took her to fly a kite, and Natalia ran hard to keep up with Cleo's pace.

"Natalia, keep going! Our kite is flying!"

Natalia was struggling to run. She clenched her little fists and tried her best to keep up. "Cleo, wait for me."

Natalia stumbled and fell on the grass. She didn't cry out in pain, using her hands to push herself up from the grass, trying hard to stand up.

When she finally managed to stand, there was a patch of blood on her white dress.

Ashley was about to praise Natalia for being strong when she saw the blood flowing from her nose. Her face turned pale with fright, and she ran over. "Natalia!"

Natalia squinted her eyes with difficulty, stubbornly saying, "Auntie, I'm fine."

As soon as she finished speaking, her small body went limp, and she fainted in Ashley's arms.

Seeing this, Sean quickly rushed over, his strong arms lifting Natalia and holding her securely. He took big strides towards the parking lot. "Ashley, Cleo, grab your bags. We're going to the hospital right now!"
