Chapter 496 He Appeared

April said, "You've been hiding for so long because you didn't want him to find out. Sending him a photo now is like giving him a clue."

Chad sarcastically replied, "The first time I video-called him, I used a virtual voice, and it still took him a year to figure it out. Don't think so highly of Damian."

April reminded him, "Don't forget, he was in a coma that whole year."

Chad laughed, feeling rather pleased despite her jab, "It's a pity he even woke up."

"There's a skilled doctor and a psychologist by his side. Do you know them? Are they really that amazing?"

Chad sneered, "Can a quack doctor really save anyone?"

The computer's notification suddenly flashed.

Chad quickly minimized the video and cursed, "He's actually trying to trace my ID."

April's expression tightened, "So fast?? Be careful, don't let him find you!"

Rochester City, Hillside villa.

Damian sat in a chair, holding a nearly finished wood carving. The delicate and slender figure, with flowing long hair, had taken shape. The small figure was lifelike, but it only had a nose and mouth, no eyes.

He focused on the wood carving, gently brushing the wooden figure's hair with his fingers, warming the unfeeling wood with the heat from his fingertips.

There was a knock on the door.

The door was knocked twice, and Damian said, "Come in."

Jasper entered with a tray, carrying a glass of water and some fruit.

As usual, he put down the tray and stood aside, waiting. "What are we learning today?"

These days, Damian had been teaching him close combat. Jasper was learning diligently and progressing quickly. His happiest time each day was when Damian wasn't busy, and they could spar.

Damian said, "Today, we're still working on reaction speed. Come and try to take the wood carving from my hand. Let's see how long you can last."

Jasper shook his head decisively, "Pick something else. You worked so hard on this wood carving, I'm afraid I'll break it."

It was just a wood carving, but it was something Damian had painstakingly carved bit by bit. He took it out to admire it every day, it was very precious.

Damian said, "Talk big after you manage to touch it."

Jasper raised his head defiantly, "You said it, if I break it, I won't pay for it."

Not that he could afford to anyway.

With that, he spread his legs, stretched out his hands, and started moving his legs, jumping up and down.

But Damian just sat in the chair, not even moving his position, easily countering all of Jasper's attacks with one hand. Jasper gritted his teeth, sweating profusely after just ten minutes, but he couldn't even touch the shadow of the wood carving.

In the end, he panted, holding his knees, feeling both frustrated and increasingly impressed.

So amazing! He had been learning for so long, but he couldn't even touch Damian's hand. Yesterday it was an apple, the day before it was a phone, and the day before that it was a fan...

How long would he have to learn to be even a third as good as Damian?

Wiping the sweat from his face, Jasper curiously asked, "Is the wood carving in your hand Ashley?"

Damian didn't answer.

Jasper was puzzled, "You've carved several, each with different clothes and hair, but none of them have eyes. But I think they're the same person. The nose is similar, the mouth too. Even without eyes, they look like Ashley. But why don't you give them eyes?"

Damian answered irrelevantly, "Where's your master?"

"Master is reading medical books. He's trying to find a way to cure you. He said since Ashley helped him so much, he must repay you both," Jasper said, becoming more confused, "Why hasn't Ashley come back? You're injured, why doesn't she come back to see you?"

Damian's fingers paused, gripping the wood carving tighter, "Because she's more hurt than I am."

Jasper, with his limited understanding, thought he meant physical injury and was shocked, "What? You were almost dead, if Ashley is more hurt than you, can she still be alive?"

Damian put the wood carving in a drawer and closed it, "Our injuries are different. Mine is on the outside, hers is on the inside."

Jasper half-understood, "Ashley's heart is hurt? Who hurt her? Shouldn't you help her?"

Damian turned his head to look out the window, his eyes darkening, "I'm already helping her get revenge."

Jasper nodded, not fully understanding but satisfied to hear about revenge. At least Ashley wasn't physically hurt. After a moment of silence, he asked, "Are you with Jessica now?"

Jessica came to Hillside villa every day, almost like the lady of the house.

Jasper, as a boy, might be slow to understand romantic feelings, but he could see Jessica's unusual feelings for Damian and instinctively thought they were a couple.

But wasn't he dating Ashley? How could he switch halfway?

Damian looked at him sternly, "Kids shouldn't talk nonsense. Don't ask again."

"Got it!"

Jasper, long accustomed to being overpowered by Damian, obeyed him completely.

Left alone in the study, Damian picked up his teacup, drank the bitter tea without a frown, and didn't touch the fruit tray beside him.

At that moment, a new email notification appeared in the bottom right corner of the computer.

Damian opened the email.

He froze in his chair, his fingers gripping the mouse so tightly he almost crushed the ceramic shell.

The image showed Damian and a man in a close embrace, with a very familiar casino hallway in the background.

The largest casino in Golden City, its decor unforgettable. He had only been there once, but he would never forget it.

Ashley, in a tightly wrapped dress, looked like she was dressed for a night out.

In his memory, Ashley would never go to such a place.

As for the man in the photo.

Damian's anger suddenly vanished, replaced by the sender's virtual address.

He realized with alarm that someone had hacked into his email.

Almost instinctively, Damian's first suspect was volcano.

He had previously instructed his subordinates to compare the masked man's voice, only to find it was a virtual fake voice, and the technology couldn't filter out the original voice, temporarily halting the investigation.

Since waking up, he had never stopped investigating the masked man, but it was as if the man had vanished into thin air, leaving no trace, and Selene's hiding place was lost in the crowd.

When someone disappears without a trace, they are either dead or have changed their identity and gone into hiding. To find the person behind it, he had challenged the volcano again, planning to use an international lawsuit to bring him out.

Today's email had once again triggered Damian's keen instincts. Could it be that the other side was finally losing patience?

Without further thought, Damian's fingers flew over the keyboard, typing furiously.

After the car accident, he had been in a coma for too long. His physical agility had recovered to eighty percent of its original state through intensive training, but high-intensity operations were still somewhat strenuous.

However, this time the trace didn't take him long. Within minutes, a red dot appeared on another computer.

In less than a second, the map around the red dot zoomed in rapidly, finally locking onto Las Vegas.

The red dot moved quickly, making it impossible to tell if it was traveling by car or plane.

He's still near the casino?

So, he took the photo and couldn't wait to send it, deliberately provoking him.

As the map zoomed in to pinpoint the street, the red dot was suddenly interrupted by a jamming signal, ending the trace.

Damian picked up his phone and pressed a speed dial button. "He's appeared, near the Golden City casino. Hack into the casino's surveillance system and check who has been in contact with Ashley. The person closest to her is likely the one we're looking for. Ensure Ashley's safety and make sure she's okay."

"Yes, Mr. Hearst!"
