Chapter 380 Standing Up

The camera slowly zoomed in on Jessa's face. She glared, gritting her teeth, and said, "You bitch, take your punishment!"

Amelia looked up, her seductive eyes filled with grievance and hypocrisy. "Your Majesty, why would you..."

Before she could defend herself, a burly soldier suddenly pinned her down and kicked her hard in the back of her knees.

Amelia's knees hit the hard stone floor. The sudden pain made her body go numb, and tears streamed down her face uncontrollably.

The director was initially pleased with the intensity of her kneeling, but when he saw her tears, he got angry. "Amelia, what are you doing? Hold back those tears!"

Amelia reached up to wipe her tears, accidentally smudging her heavily applied eye makeup, leaving one side of her face a mess.

Jessa chuckled, "Looks like we won't be able to shoot the next take for at least half an hour. Starting work and already causing delays, what bad luck!"

The director waved his hand, calling out, "Makeup artist, hurry and fix her makeup! What's going on?"

Others surrounded Jessa, flattering and apologizing, "Ms. Greer, it's okay, it's okay. Don't mind the newbie; she doesn't know the rules and clearly hasn't put in the effort to study the script."

Jessa crossed one leg, "It's so hot."

Her assistant quickly moved the fan closer, lowered the sunshade, and someone even prepared iced coffee.

Jessa took a sip and angrily said, "Don't you know I'm watching my sugar intake?"

The person who bought the coffee bowed and apologized, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'll get another one with no sugar and no milk. I'm sorry, Ms. Greer."

Amelia was in so much pain from being pinned to the ground that she couldn't stand up at first. She finally managed to stand, trembling, with her hands supporting her.

The makeup artist saw her pale face and whispered, "Are you okay?"

Amelia bit her lip, "I'm fine."

"You can't fool me. That sounded painful; your skin must be broken."

Amelia smiled, "Please just fix my makeup. We need to keep shooting."

Ashley arrived just in time to see Jessa's smug face.

How could someone like the public idolize her?

She needed to be put in her place!

Ashley waited by the roadside for a while and finally saw the girl who had gone to buy coffee.

"Give it to me. Ms. Greer might start yelling again."

The girl looked at the unfamiliar face warily, "Who are you?"

Ashley, wearing sunglasses that only revealed her beautiful chin, said, "I'm her cousin. I'm here to visit the set. Only I can handle her temper."

Feeling relieved, the girl handed the coffee to her with both hands, saying, "Thank you... Miss! Thank you!"

Ashley nodded and smiled, "Do you enjoy this job?"

The girl looked down and mumbled, finally saying, "What choice do I have? It's hard to find a job these days."

Ashley smiled, "Better opportunities will come."

While waiting for Amelia's makeup to be fixed, Jessa kept making snide remarks, belittling Amelia. Finally, with nothing left to say, she snapped at her assistant, "Where's my coffee? Why is it taking so long?"

Ashley handed the coffee to the assistant closest to Jessa.

The assistant quickly brought it over, "Ms. Greer, your coffee."

Jessa rolled her eyes and slowly sipped through a straw. The iced coffee slightly cooled her temper. "I don't know how some people got into this crew. No acting skills and causing delays. Who's going to compensate for everyone's time?"

Amelia kept her eyes closed while getting her makeup fixed. The makeup artist whispered, "Just bear with it. She has powerful connections; we can't afford to offend her. The bruise on your face from yesterday still hasn't healed. I'll apply more powder."

When the makeup artist touched the bruise on her face, Amelia winced in pain, "Do you believe she'll get her comeuppance eventually?"

"Don't say that. Jessa has great resources, which means someone powerful is backing her."

After her makeup was done, Amelia saw Ashley standing behind the crew, wearing stylish sunglasses, and greeting her.

Feeling more confident, Amelia thanked the makeup artist and said, "Ursa, there's going to be a good show today."

The second take began.

Jessa still maintained her domineering attitude, "You bitch, take your punishment!"

Amelia tried to defend herself, and the soldier pressed down hard.

"Director, please wait a moment."

This time, Jessa suddenly called for a stop. Her face alternated between pale and flushed, and she was clearly struggling with something.

Garry Glenn stopped filming, "What's wrong, Jessa?"

Jessa couldn't answer and rushed to the restroom, losing several heavy accessories from her head along the way. She nearly tripped several times, with her assistants anxiously attending to her, only to be scolded.

Laughter could be heard from behind.

Garry also suppressed a smile.

Amelia walked into the dressing room amidst the chaos and met up with Ashley, who had arrived earlier. "What's wrong with her?"

Ashley feigned ignorance, "Maybe she ate something she shouldn't have?"

She then took out two soft pads from her bag, "Put these on your knees. It won't hurt as much when you kneel later. You should have thought of this earlier, knowing today's scene would be tough."

Amelia felt the thick, soft pads, "I didn't think of that. You're so smart."

After putting on the knee pads, Amelia covered them with her heavy costume, making them completely unnoticeable.

When Jessa returned, her makeup, hair, and costume all needed to be redone, so her scenes were pushed back.

Meanwhile, Amelia, fully made up, was ready to shoot the next scene.

During this time, Jessa had already run to the restroom five times and was nearly exhausted.

"Something's wrong! That coffee was tampered with!"

Jessa recalled the only thing she had consumed since joining the crew and identified the coffee as the suspect.

Her assistant immediately went back to the set to find the remaining coffee, but the cup was nowhere to be seen. Finally, she dragged the girl who had bought the coffee over and scolded her harshly.

Jessa, clutching her stomach and gritting her teeth, asked, "Did you buy the coffee?"

The girl, already afraid of her, was now even more terrified, her legs trembling. "Yes, I bought it, but I just followed your instructions, no sugar."

The assistant raised her hand and slapped the girl hard, "Stop lying! Is this your first day with Ms. Greer? Don't you know the consequences of lying?"

The girl's eyes were red, filled with fear and anxiety, and she shook her head frantically, "I really didn't do anything. I gave the coffee to Ms. Greer's cousin right after I bought it. She said..."

Jessa interrupted her, "What cousin? I don't have a cousin!"

The girl looked at her in shock, tears blurring her vision. The beautiful face in front of her looked like a witch ready to devour her. "The lady with the sunglasses. She said she was your cousin and came to visit the set."

Jessa, mustering her strength, ordered her assistant, "Take her to the set to identify the person. I want to see who dares to mess with me!"
