Chapter 456 A Small Request

It was hard enough to start walking upright again, and just a few days of relief before the doctor advised using crutches. The disappointment was too much to bear!

The doctor quickly explained, "No, no! Mr. Hendrix Long, you misunderstood. That's not what I meant. I just said that your leg was severely injured, and it's best to reinforce it to avoid unnecessary trouble. Mr. Brian Long and Mrs. Nola Long have repeatedly emphasized ensuring your safety. Last time, you insisted on walking, which was already a bit too much."

Afraid that he hadn't made himself clear and might leave hidden dangers, the doctor quickly voiced all his concerns, even bringing up Hendrix's parents at the end, fearing he couldn't bear the responsibility if something happened later.

Hendrix stared at his leg, constantly thinking about the kick from Damian. Damn it, he had to find a way to get revenge. "I know my leg well. Before it's fully recovered, I'll try to reduce its use and won't drive myself. Forget the crutches; after all, this isn't Europe."

Cold sweat appeared on the doctor's forehead. He feared being kicked out by Hendrix if the argument continued, so he nodded, "I'll prescribe some medication to help with bone repair and adjust your diet to ensure you recover as soon as possible."

"Alright."

After getting the items, Hendrix left the hospital.

"Mr. Long, where to now?" Kieran, the assistant and driver forcibly assigned to Hendrix by his family, asked.

Leaning back in his seat, Hendrix asked slowly, "My mom sent you over, under the guise of driving me and taking care of my life, but actually to supervise me, right?"

Kieran, a bit nervous, gripped the steering wheel and said, "Mr. Long, I'm just an employee."

Hendrix said coldly, "I don't care about her intentions. Since you're my person now, you have to listen to me and follow my instructions. As for how to report back to her, use your brain and don't cause me trouble."

Kieran nodded, "I understand, Mr. Long."

"You're a new face, which is a good thing. So, you keep an eye on someone for me. Wherever she goes, whoever she meets, whatever she does, report it to me."

Kieran felt immense pressure, being sent by Nola to supervise Hendrix and now tasked by Hendrix to follow someone else. "Yes, Mr. Long, who do you want me to watch?"

"Ashley."

"Press a bit longer."

The needle hole on Ashley's hand had stopped bleeding, and she wanted to let go, but then heard Damian's reminder.

So she continued pressing.

With her hands crossed, she looked at the expressionless Damian, "Did Hayden finish looking at the scans? What did he say?"

"Nothing serious," Damian answered lightly, as if it was really nothing.

But Ashley didn't think so. If it was nothing, Hayden wouldn't have reacted so strongly.

Before she could ask further, Damian said, "Did you ask him about ways to treat insomnia?"

The topic change made her a bit dazed.

"Oh, that... a long time ago." She had wanted to help him treat his insomnia back then, but after asking around, found no better methods.

Damian's deep gaze seemed to draw out all her secrets, "For me?"

It was a question, but the answer was already clear.

Ashley didn't deny it, "Your insomnia is so severe, not treating it early is really harmful to your health. Besides, I had something to ask of you back then, so I had to show sincerity. But in the end, I found they couldn't offer any particularly good suggestions, so I took you to Coastal City to see Mr. Collins."

What a pity.

Martin and his brother's feud had been resolved, but he still wouldn't come to Rochester City.

With her limited massage skills, how long would it take to cure Damian?

Damian, holding the steering wheel with one hand, spoke in a low, warm voice, "Your method is good enough, no need to consult others."

"But I can't give you a massage every day," she said, realizing the situation was getting awkward, and quickly added, "Like today, I'm almost out of it myself, how can I help you?"

Actually, Damian understood her meaning after her first sentence. Since she was willing to explain, he could pretend not to understand, "No problem, one deep sleep can provide several days' worth of energy."

Ashley was greatly shocked. What kind of constitution did he have? One sleep could equal several for others?

Seeing him start the car, Ashley hurriedly stopped him, "Don't drive, I'll do it."

"You're the patient, I'm afraid you'll crash halfway."

His voice was not loud, but it was irrefutable.

Ashley reluctantly put her hand down, not arguing with him, "When will Thomas be back?"

"If all goes well, in a week."

If not, it was hard to say.

What he was doing and where he was going were not questions Ashley should ask.

The car drove home, the blazing sun outside, the gentle air conditioning inside, making it lazy and comfortable, and soon she felt sleepy.

Unknowingly, Ashley fell asleep.

When the car reached the garage, Damian looked at the sleeping Ashley, parked quietly but didn't turn off the engine, as the air conditioning would stop.

She looked peaceful in her sleep, with gentle brows, pursed lips, and a clean face, like a child without any defenses.

Reaching out, he gently brushed her forehead.

Seeing her eyes move restlessly, Damian's mouth twitched, almost smiling.

She was quite cute.

"Are we home?"

Ashley woke up groggily, seeing the familiar garage, the quiet car interior, and Damian looking at her, seemingly attracted by something.

Damian said naturally, "The doctor said your arm shouldn't exert force, so I can't carry you upstairs."

He was stating a fact, but Ashley blushed a bit.

"Let's go! I'm fine."

No need for you to carry.

Damian's phone rang, he glanced at the caller, "You go up first, I'll take this call."

"Okay."

Some things, she still couldn't know.

In the empty garage, Damian answered, "Speak."

It was Thomas's voice, "Mr. Hearst, Ms. Peterson has woken up."

His grip on the phone tightened, almost crushing the metal casing, but Damian quickly calmed down, showing no sign of abnormality, "Did you see her?"

Thomas had gone later; he was one of the people Damian trusted most in this matter and could approach Selene. Only by sending him could Damian be at ease.

"I saw her, but couldn't talk. There are many people around Ms. Peterson, hard to get close. I'll find a way."

"How is she?"

"Weak, but out of danger, with the best doctors and proper care."

Really?

Damian grew more puzzled. Who exactly was Selene with?

"Don't let anyone discover you, and don't alert my grandfather."

Thomas understood, no one in the Hearst family should know this news, "Rest assured, Mr. Hearst."

"Call me anytime."

"Yes, Mr. Hearst."

Damian calmed down for a few minutes before going upstairs, seeing Ashley sitting on the living room sofa watching TV.

The movie channel, a legal-related film.

She was hugging a pillow, her slender figure curled up, looking small.

Damian cleared his throat, "Not going back to lie down?"

Ashley turned, her eyes sparkling, "Today I'm the patient, can I make a small request?"
