Chapter 410 Someone is Jealous
Last time on the mountain, there was plenty of space and many people, so she could easily hide herself. But today, every expression and movement was in plain view, and she had nowhere to hide.
Pretending to get along with Damian was something she couldn't quite manage.
Hearing Theo say that, her first reaction was to refuse, "It's fine, there's a breeze today, it's not too hot, and I'm not really..."
Before she could say "thirsty," a cup of tea was placed in front of her. The person who brought the tea said nothing, remaining silent and aloof.
Ashley tried hard to hide her discomfort, forcing a smile, "Thank you."
"No problem," came the indifferent reply.
Damian finished his own cup of tea and picked up the teapot to pour more. His long arms and the slight bend of his elbow, as he poured, were simply pleasing to the eye.
Sitting next to Ashley, Hayden cheerfully pushed his cup forward. Ashley thought of handing it to Damian, but his hand had already reached across her to take the cup.
She was caught in the middle, her nose almost touching his white shirt. Though there was still some distance, she could deeply inhale Damian's scent.
The intense tension made her feel a bit dizzy for a moment.
She had the illusion that today's temperature was suddenly very, very hot.
After pouring the tea, Damian used a wooden clip to place the cup in front of Hayden, fully mastering the essence of the tea ceremony.
It would be a waste if he didn't become a tea master.
Ashley glanced at him out of the corner of her eye, her heart skipping a beat.
Her fingers touched the small cup he had just held, the warm sensation feeling like his body heat.
Even though he said nothing and his movements were very elegant, she couldn't help but think of less harmonious things.
For example, the roughness beneath that perfect exterior...
Ashley secretly bit her tongue, forcing herself not to think wildly.
The tea room was clearly crafted by an artisan, with genuine calligraphy and paintings on the walls, and a set of tea utensils on the table that were quite valuable.
Ashley said, "I never knew Theo had such a place. The environment is very quiet, the exterior looks good, and the interior is also nice. Very tasteful!"
Damian remained expressionless.
Hayden, with a mischievous grin, said, "You like it?"
Ashley looked around the interior layout, "Who wouldn't like such a nice place?"
Hayden clicked his tongue and sighed, "If you like it, you can come often. After all, it's our own place."
They didn't distinguish much between each other, and entertainment facilities were basically "shared," so when he said "our own," Ashley didn't think much of it.
"Sure, I'll come over for tea when I'm free and bring you along."
Theo teased, "You can come, but whether Hayden can come might need to be asked of Mr. Hearst."
"What?"
Seeing Ashley's clearly puzzled look, he laughed, "I don't have the leisure to carve out such a nice place in the bustling city. It's Mr. Hearst's. You know his habits, right? Dining at Cloud ManHearston, tea here, and drinks at Blue Star."
The place belonged to Damian, but she had just said she liked it, and it was too late to take it back.
She could only smile faintly and say, "Yes, Mr. Hearst is known for being picky. He never settles for anything less than the best."
Damian leisurely sipped his tea, not showing any eagerness to join the conversation despite being the topic.
Calm and detached, he played the role of a non-essential character very well.
Hayden internally mocked, pretending, really good at pretending, with a cheerful face, "By the way, Ashley, what did you do at Limehof? Was it fun?"
Ashley sneaked a glance at Damian. Would he say something he shouldn't?
How much did Hayden know about their time at Limehof?
"The main attraction of Limehof is the sea and seafood. You've been there before."
Why did he ask? He made it seem like he'd never been out before.
Hayden grinned, "Ashley seems to be in a bad mood. Who upset you?"
Ashley figured it out; Hayden was doing it on purpose today, "You!"
"Injustice! What did I do?"
Ashley said, "Not saving lives at the hospital during work hours, but coming out to play?"
Hayden was quick to respond, "You're wronging me. I came specifically for a house call for Mr. Hearst, our super VVIP patient! Mr. Hearst's arm has gotten worse these past few days. We took an X-ray the other day, and it's dislocated again. If he keeps this up, no matter how good my medical skills are, I can't fix it."
That serious?
Didn't he have a steel plate and was recovering well?
Could it be from driving too much?
He was reckless, treating himself as invincible despite his injuries. Did he really think he was made of iron?
Knowing this, Ashley couldn't just ignore it. Looking at Damian's right arm, she asked, "Is it better?"
Damian replied, "It's fine, don't listen to him scare you."
"Scare you? I'm telling you, if you keep driving and moving things, you'll end up with one arm."
Ashley instinctively thought of the night she had slept in Damian's bed and realized that he must have carried her up. Consequently, his arm's deterioration was indirectly related to her.
Ashley felt a bit guilty. Instead of helping him with hypnosis, she had caused him trouble, "You should listen to Hayden and rest for a while. Wait until you're fully recovered before driving."
Hayden scoffed, "Do you think he'll listen to me? I told him to get an X-ray at the hospital, and he arrogantly ignored me. I don't know what changed this time, but he went straight to the hospital after coming back from Limehof."
She had told him to go to the hospital after getting off the plane.
Could it be that he had followed her advice, or was his arm hurting so much that he finally realized the seriousness of the situation?
Damian's cold, sharp gaze swept towards Hayden, "Is the tea too weak to keep your mouth shut?"
Hayden muttered, "I don't know who almost lost half their life. Fine, I'll stop talking, let's drink tea!"
Half a life? What was that about?
Ashley couldn't figure it out this time.
Theo waited until they stopped bickering before appropriately joining the conversation, "Ashley, what did you need to see me about?"
Ashley had documents in her bag. Today's task was work, but with Damian and Hayden present, she couldn't bring it up. She could only say, "Nothing much, I haven't seen you in a while and wanted to check on you. You seem even thinner than last time, not eating well again."
Damian's fingers tightened around his cup.
She could actually tell if Theo had gained or lost weight? How closely had she been observing him?
Why couldn't she tell his arm was almost useless?
Hayden's eyes kept drifting towards them, noticing Damian's actions, and he secretly smiled.
Someone was jealous.
Theo said, "It's the quarterly settlement, the company is quite busy. But things will be relatively quiet for a while, so I was thinking of going on vacation."
Vacation? That would mean being away for a long time, and she wouldn't see him.
"When are you going? Where to?"
Theo saw her anxious look and laughed, "Do you want to go too?"
"I don't have that much time. The law firm has a lot going on, I might have to work overtime."
Hayden couldn't resist butting in, "What overtime? It's just a small law firm. Ashley, if you want to go, go. If you don't want to, you won't starve, right, Mr. Hearst?"
