Chapter 529 Investigating the Truth, Identifying Suspicious Identities

Gentleness was not a label for Damian.

Just by raising his head and showing a cold gaze, he can shatter all the illusions that people shouldn't have.

Ashley said lightly, "Where's Natalia?"

Damian put down the document, raised his chin slightly, and indicated the sofa opposite, "Sit down first."

Tonight's matter needs a conclusion.

Ashley sat down as instructed. In the spacious and bright hall, the two of them seemed particularly empty, and the air in the good suburban area was somewhat lacking in oxygen.

The softness on Damian's face was gone, replaced by his usual sharp coldness, "Thomas has already said it."

"In that case, Mr. Hearst, what else do you want to know?"

The atmosphere was very stiff, and their words had no warmth, and the tone was even more unfamiliar.

Damian tried not to provoke her, using a kind tone he was not good at, "They have long known about our relationship. Undoubtedly, they are using you to confuse me."

Ashley sneered, "Their plan is wrong. We have nothing to do with each other. To Mr. Hearst, I am a thing of the past, and the same goes for me. So, no matter what they want from me in the future, I will not provide it. You can rest assured, I will not put you in a passive position to protect myself. Likewise, I hope you handle this matter cleanly and don't implicate me."

She analyzed very straightforwardly, very calmly distanced herself, and very decisively drew the line.

So much so that Damian's hand holding the teacup paused for a moment.

His deep eyes looked at her, able to clearly touch the deep river flowing between them, an invisible boundary that could not be crossed, "The enemy of the volcano is the Hearst family. I will try to minimize the impact of this matter on you, but until they are completely dismantled, your personal safety is still at risk. I will send someone to protect you."

"Your so-called protection is just following me, right?" Ashley looked straight at him.

It must be said that tonight Thomas suddenly appeared and helped her solve the problem, but it also directly indicated that Damian's eyes were surrounding her life.

Damian did not deny it, "They are only responsible for your safety and will not interfere with your life."

"Whatever, I have nothing to hide."

Damian heard her sarcasm and saw the coldness in her eyes, "Do we have to talk like this, Ashley?"

Hearing his sexy voice calling her name, Ashley's eardrum fluctuated for a moment, but only for a moment, "Mr. Hearst, please don't call me by my name, it's inappropriate."

Damian did not insist any further. He said to the outside, "Bring it in."

In a few minutes, Thomas filled the living room coffee table with dishes, a hot and hearty dinner, rich and homely.

Ashley glanced at Thomas, his mouth injury had been treated, with a bruise, "Does it still hurt?"

"Just a minor injury, it doesn't hurt. Natalia is with Mr. Collins, playing with the medicines. She seems very interested, so I didn't let her come over."

Thomas explained quite well, relieving Ashley's worries, "Got it, I'll pick her up later."

Thomas exited.

Ashley looked at the two bowls and two sets of cutlery, "You haven't eaten either?"

Damian took a few wet wipes to clean his fingers, holding a fork, "Hungry."

Ashley didn't know what to say.

Hadn't eaten, or was hungry again after eating?

Ashley hadn't had dinner and was too lazy to go back and cook. She washed her hands, came back, and started eating with a fork, taking big bites, just to fill her stomach.

Damian's eating manner was still so good, elegant and refined, chewing slowly.

After swallowing the food in her mouth, Ashley felt a bit embarrassed, her pace slowed down a lot by Damian, "You can't find out who the founder of the volcano is?"

She suddenly asked.

Because not talking would only make it more awkward.

Damian finished that bite of food before saying, "Can't find out."

His straightforward answer was quite unexpected, "Chad is the breakthrough point. He wouldn't not report his work to his leader."

Damian said, "Did you find anything after contacting him?"

Ashley shook her head regretfully, "Very little."

"What?"

"Chad looks pretty good." Ashley said.

Damian frowned, "Is that all you know?"

Ashley said, "I'm just a shallow person."

Damian suppressed his displeasure. "Are you attracted to him?"

"Not attracted, but having someone around who is attentive and flattering feels nice." Ashley pretended to be casual.

Damian's appetite was almost gone. "You shouldn't fall for such a lowly trick."

"Mr. Hearst overestimates me. I'm a simple-minded person." Ashley forked some food, tasting it, and eating very enjoyably.

Damian had high standards for food, the color, taste, and pairing were all first-class, much better than the three meals Ashley prepared for herself.

"Ashley, don't do something foolish just to anger me. You'll regret it."

"Not more than marrying you." Ashley directly retorted.

The light on Damian's face disappeared, "You..."

Rarely at a loss for words, he was speechless.

Ashley felt a bit satisfied, making Damian suffer, she felt quite good. "There's something I'm quite surprised about."

"Say it." Damian was still depressed.

"You are so gentle with children. I thought kids would only be scared to cry when they see you." Ashley said casually.

Damian's hand tightened around the fork, looking at her inquisitively, "Depends on who."

He wasn't so good-tempered with everyone.

Ashley was almost certain that Damian misunderstood Natalia's identity.

"Okay."

"Why ask this suddenly?"

"Just wanted to remind Mr. Hearst not to be too self-indulgent, lest you look back and find it's a joke."

Isn't Damian smart? She hinted this much, the rest was for him to guess.

Damian's subordinates spent two weeks looking for Hannibal's traces in Sylvania, repairing surveillance footage.

Generally speaking, surveillance footage in public places is only kept for three months to a year. No one stores massive amounts of video on a computer, as it consumes too much memory.

Locking down the time Hannibal appeared, they conducted a carpet search of the Skyline District and the surrounding area of the volcano. Through technical restoration, they finally found a suspicious figure.

He was the only opposite sex Hannibal met alone in Sylvania.

The man was wearing a baseball jacket, a cap with the brim pressed low, revealing a thin chin.

In his twenties, with a slim build, about six feet tall.

Thomas carefully identified the man on the screen, "The information is too limited, it's hard to recognize. Can't find a full face?"

Damian reminded him, "Look more carefully."

Thomas felt the embarrassment of having his work ability questioned by his boss, and identified more carefully, "All common features. But there are at least a billion people who fit these features."

"And?"

"Should be very recognizable, at least not ugly. If seen, definitely memorable."

Can't see the features, but can roughly identify the bone structure. This face shape wouldn't be ugly, and would be recognizable in a crowd.

Damian frowned, "What kind of eyesight?"

One Ashley, one Thomas, neither had good aesthetics.

Thomas coughed, "Mr. Hearst, what did you see?"

Damian said, "Should be Chad."

Thomas suddenly realized, "Now that you mention it, it does look a bit like him!"

The Chad he saw was in a suit and tie, with a meticulously groomed hairstyle, looking every bit the elite, while the man in the footage looked like an immature youth.

Five years can change many things, not easy to connect them together.

Damian enlarged the photo, staring at the only exposed part of the chin, as if his gaze penetrated Chad's skin and flesh, looking at his skeleton, "Flesh can change, bones don't. You lack experience."

Thomas fully accepted Damian's evaluation, he was still far behind. "When I fought him, I found his skills very good, definitely professionally trained. I couldn't beat him, but he's not your match."

Damian glanced at his unfeeling legs. "Not necessarily."
