Chapter 511 Ashley Deduces the Mastermind
Receiving another call from Chad was not surprising, but Ashley's reaction was the same as last time, "Sorry, no time, not convenient."
After saying that, she hung up.
But Chad quickly sent a text message, "Ms. Astor, I found this at your old workplace."
In the picture, there was a cactus.
Ashley had left it on the windowsill when she resigned and didn't take it with her. She didn't expect it to be still alive two years later.
Rather than being impressed by the cactus's vitality, Ashley was disgusted by the fact that Chad had gone to the law firm!
Ashley immediately called Harold, "Harold, have you seen Chad? He went to the law firm."
Harold said, "Chad? What? I don't know this person. I'm at the courthouse. You should ask Hannah."
Hearing this, Ashley knew how shameless Chad was, "It's nothing, I was just asking. You go ahead and get busy, we'll talk later."
"Are you back in Rochester City? Heartless, you didn't even..."
Ashley interrupted him, "You and Amelia are both busy, one with becoming a movie star, the other with handling big cases. I didn't want to disturb you."
Harold was so angry that he made a dissatisfied sound, "I'm in court, we'll settle this later."
Then Ashley called Chad back, "Mr. Wilson, what do you mean? Explain yourself."
Chad smiled slightly, looking particularly innocent, "I just want to see you. Is it that difficult?"
Ashley gritted her teeth in anger. Damn it, how did she get involved with such a scoundrel!
"Fine, where?"
Chad mentioned a restaurant, and they agreed to meet at 7:30 PM.
Ashley angrily hung up the phone, thinking about putting a knife in her bag. If Chad acted shamelessly again, she would stab him.
About twenty minutes later, her phone rang again. Ashley picked it up and walked a few steps into the yard. "Sean?"
Sean asked with a helpless smile, "Why didn't you contact me when you came back to the country? Didn't say a word, are you deliberately avoiding me?"
Ashley felt a bit embarrassed. She didn't want to alert anyone when she returned to the country, not deliberately avoiding him, "No, it's just that plans can't keep up with changes. I originally planned to go to Coastal City. You know Natalia's condition. I came back this time to take her to see a doctor. The fewer people who know, the better."
Otherwise, why didn't she even notify Harold and Amelia?
Sean still smiled faintly. Ashley was willing to explain so much, and he was very satisfied, "I found out the cause of Hannibal's death. It was poisoning. The autopsy report came out today. The poison entered through the respiratory tract, causing instant death. This poison was previously used in military applications, indicating its extreme toxicity. Just a little bit of inhalation is enough to be fatal. The perpetrator was extremely ruthless to ensure his death."
Ashley frowned, carefully reviewing the matter, and after a moment, she said, "Is it possible that Hannibal hid some evidence? The perpetrator was afraid he would reveal it to reduce his sentence, so they simply killed him."
Sean said, "We have the same suspicion, so we have people secretly searching for Hannibal's secret hideouts. It's said that cunning people have many safe havens. We believe he wouldn't put all his eggs in one basket."
"I think so too. The urgent task is to find the evidence before those people do. If they get to it first, this clue will be completely lost."
Sean said, "Mr. Hearst is also investigating Hannibal, did you know?"
Ashley couldn't help but show a hint of coldness on her face, probably finding it too ironic, "What he does has nothing to do with me."
Sean was surprised by her attitude. He thought Ashley rejected his advances to leave room for Damian. Could it be that she really didn't want to get involved in any relationships, as she said?
Not wanting to think too much, Sean said seriously, "Ashley, this matter is very significant, so my father is also secretly helping. If... I mean, if anyone asks you anything, don't panic. It's unlikely, but I told them to contact me directly if anything comes up."
Ashley pursed her lips. She was worried that Sean would alert other members of the Ross family, but he still involved Lucius. However, his intention was to help her, so she couldn't be ungrateful, "It's okay, I'm always ready to cooperate with the investigation. Thank your father for me."
"You should thank him in person, it would make him happier."
"Then I'll treat you both to dinner another day."
"Okay."
After hanging up the phone.
Ashley pondered, thinking, her eyes looking at the mountains not far from the villa, with many clues flying around in her head. Hannibal was blackmailed, which in turn threatened Todd and Dorian, making them continuously extract large amounts of cash from KM Group. The biggest victims of this incident included the Astor Group and KM.
And throughout the process, it seemed the Astor Group was just a tool in their hands, with the goal being to gradually dismantle KM.
Back then, KM had a financial loophole, but fortunately, Damian managed to turn the tide, preventing a major upheaval. If the Hearst family had mishandled it, it could have led to KM's downfall, even bankruptcy.
Could it be that those people's ultimate target was KM?
Given Hannibal's methods, he could have chosen any company to achieve this goal. Why specifically the Astor Group?
Because she happened to be Damian's wife, in this way, the Hearst family would not only face company troubles but also internal turmoil, being attacked from both sides, and severely damaged.
Ashley suddenly thought of a possibility. The mastermind behind this probably hated the Hearst family to the core and wanted to completely destroy this enterprise!
Otherwise, why did KM's project suddenly explode three years later, plunging KM into another media frenzy?
Could this move be a continuation and escalation of the revenge against KM?
Thinking of this, Ashley's blood couldn't help but boil. She excitedly clenched her fists and ran towards Damian's study.
She had to talk to Damian.
Maybe Damian could narrow down the investigation and quickly find the mastermind.
Ashley clutched her phone and ran from the side hall's pharmacy to the front hall, but her steps halted just before entering the study.
She saw Jessica leaning against Damian's chair, bending over with her long hair draped down, presenting an enticing back view to the main door.
One was sitting, one was kneeling on one knee, one had legs spread, and one had their head down. From Ashley's angle, it looked like she was giving Damian a blowjob.
Ashley's stomach churned, feeling nauseous and wanting to retch.
She resisted the urge to curse out loud and turned to leave.
In broad daylight, even if they couldn't control themselves, they could go back to their room. Even if they didn't go back to their room, at least close the study door.
But no, they acted as if they were in their own home, with no sense of shame.
Did they forget there were so many people in the house? Did they forget she was there too?
Or were they doing it on purpose for her to see?
Ashley was utterly disgusted, completely repulsed, and any remaining tenderness she had for Damian was entirely gone!
In the study.
Jessica was leaning over, massaging Damian's leg with gentle fingers and delicate movements, "The muscles have atrophied a bit, but they can be trained back. You need to relax and massage regularly, or the muscles will lose vitality."
Damian's legs couldn't move. He wanted to push her away but withdrew his hand just before touching her shoulder, finally stopping her with his voice, "You can stop now. Jasper will help me tonight."
Jessica insisted on doing it herself, "I was the one who massaged you when you were in a coma. The doctor said my technique is excellent, not inferior to professional standards. Jasper is good too, but if he doesn't do it right, it could hurt your muscles and bones, which would be counterproductive."
Damian frowned, his voice colder than before, "I said, that's enough."
Jessica awkwardly stopped, still wearing a gentle smile, and stood up, "Mother asked me to come every day to help with your rehabilitation. She wants you to recover quickly. She actually wants to come herself. She cares about you a lot. She even asked about it yesterday when I couldn't come."
Her words implied how much the Hearst family elders liked, trusted, and valued her.
Damian said, "You don't need to come anymore."
