Chapter 537 Should Be Beautiful Alone

As her vision gradually focused, she finally saw a clean and elegant face against the light, very clean.

This face certainly did not belong to Damian.

Ashley struggled to pull the corners of her mouth into a smile, "Theo? Sorry you have to see me like this."

Theo caught her just before she was about to fall, supporting her wobbly body against his shoulder, "Drink some water first to settle your stomach. I'll take you home in a bit."

So considerate, so comforting.

Ashley obediently nodded.

She held the water cup, sipping it slowly, and occasionally sneaking glances at Theo's expression, afraid he would be disappointed in her indulgence.

To her, Theo was a very magical presence. He spoke very little, rarely initiating conversations. Unlike Damian's cold silence, Theo was genuinely sparing with words, but he was very warm to everyone, like a piece of warm jade, both warm and noble, making her not dare to do anything too outrageous around him.

After vomiting most of the contents of her stomach and drinking some warm water, Ashley felt much better and finally dared to speak, "Theo, are we going back?"

The luxurious private room was a mess because of her, and she really didn't want Theo to stay in it.

Sitting in the passenger seat, Theo personally drove her to the villa without a word.

No need to ask, the address was given to him by Damian.

The servants hadn't come to work yet, and the house was cold and quiet. Ashley awkwardly chuckled, "I'll make you some coffee."

Theo guided her to sit on the sofa to rest, then looked at the open kitchen, "You rest well, give me a few minutes."

Ashley hugged a pillow, quietly sitting there, watching Theo roll up his sleeves and take ingredients out of the fridge.

Her vision blurred, and through a layer of vague mist, she seemed to see Damian cooking again.

Rubbing her eyes hard to bring her vision back to normal, she thought she was going crazy, thinking of that person everywhere!

In just a few minutes, Theo had cooked a light and refreshing noodle soup. "Your stomach is too empty, eating some soup noodles will feel better."

Ashley, like a child caught doing something wrong, obediently held the fork. "Did you see anyone else?"

Otherwise, when did Hendrix leave?

Theo said, "You mean Mr. Long?"

Ashley scratched her head, "That's right."

"Met him in the lobby on the first floor."

Nothing more, no further explanation or questions.

After eating the noodles, Ashley regained some energy and wasn't as restrained.

She looked at the upright Theo, "Did Mr. Hearst send you?"

"Yes, he was unavailable."

Ashley sneered, "Unavailable is a great excuse, but I still want to tell him, there's no need to go to such lengths. I don't think he's helping me out of kindness, maybe he can't stand seeing me with someone else, driven by possessiveness, wanting to teach me a lesson."

Damian was interesting too, divorced for so long, where did he get the right to demand she stay pure and avoid other men?

Theo smiled gently, looking at Ashley like an elder doting on a willful child, "I don't know what he means, but he really was unavailable. I thought you knew."

Since Ashley often went to Damian's place, she should know he was paralyzed, right?

Why did she seem completely unaware?

"Is there something I should know but don't? Even if there is, it's because Damian deliberately didn't let me know. In that case, I just don't know!"

Theo took a sip of water and smiled, "A lot has happened in the two years you were gone."

Ashley said, "A lot has happened to me too. People aren't stone lions at the park gate, everyone has their own things to do, of course, there will be many changes, it's not surprising at all."

Hearing the faint bitterness in her tone, Theo asked, "Have you changed?"

Ashley turned to face him, their eyes meeting, both exploring, "What do you think?"

"Yes, quite a bit." But he knew Ashley was still the kind-hearted girl at her core.

Ashley propped her chin with her fingers, trying to alleviate the lingering dizziness in her head, "You haven't changed at all. All these years, you've always seemed very detached, as if you're not interested in anyone. Sometimes I even wonder if your orientation is a bit special. Even if it is, it's okay. In some countries, same-sex marriage is legalized, you can go abroad to register."

Theo almost choked on his water, coughing several times before speaking, "Do I look like I have an orientation problem?"

Ashley carefully examined the high and mighty Theo, the piano prince, the heir to the group, the epitome of elegance. Many adjectives for male protagonists could be applied to him. He was truly God's favored child.

"Not exactly, just that you're so perfect, no man or woman is worthy of you. You should be beautiful on your own."

Theo was both amused and exasperated, "Are you complimenting me or cursing me?"

"I'm not saying you should be lonely forever, but you haven't liked anyone all these years." Ashley's head hurt when she thought, but she still tried to recall several times since she met Theo, never finding any woman close to him.

Theo said, "I did, a long time ago, but one day she suddenly disappeared, her life or death unknown."

Ashley's mind buzzed, her first thought was Faye.

Could Theo have liked Faye?

Theo continued, "After she left, I tried to connect with others, but I never found that feeling of excitement. Maybe being devoted isn't such a good thing, because I can't bear any loss."

Ashley's drunkenness completely dissipated, her mind becoming clear, magnifying the past bit by bit. In her memory, Theo was indeed very indulgent and loving towards Faye, always fulfilling her requests!

Then he must hate her, resent her deeply.

He, Damian, Christian, and Hayden all knew that Faye's last contact before her death was with her. She was the indirect cause of Faye's death.

Damian hated her to the core, and Theo, loving so deeply, must want to tear her apart even more, right?

Ashley suddenly felt very panicked, very scared, her back hunching involuntarily, "Theo, I..."

She lowered her head, her eyes red.

Seeing Ashley's panic, Theo smiled bitterly, "I don't like to preach, but having experienced losing a loved one, I can't help but want to remind those who still have a chance to love, as long as it's not a matter of life and death, try to reconcile, to accept and forgive each other again. Don't end up like me, separated by death, never having said 'I love you'."

Ashley's mind was a mess.

When Damian accused her back then, she wasn't this upset. Just thinking about Theo losing his loved one forever made her heart feel like it was being cut open by a scalpel.

Theo gently patted her shoulder, "I'm leaving now, contact me if you need anything."

The living room suddenly felt empty, the cold wind constantly sweeping through, washing away all the warmth.

Theo was so good to her, she really felt unworthy.

But the low mood didn't last long, a phone call interrupted Ashley's sadness.

"Ashley, it's me!"
